T-Pain Exposed! Dude can't sing

Why are underdogs so quick to pull down a brother making a come-up? I don't care wether he can sing or not it still takes creativity to come up with a good musical composition. I applaud all my brothers who can find creative non-destructive means to survive. Bump the haters and crabs waiting for somebody to fall so that they can feel better about their own failings and shortcomings, like the creator of this post and those that follow him! :hmm: :smh:

Damn how old are you?

This is a hip-hop discussion. T-Pain is a "hip-hop singer". A hook man. They are not uncommon in hip-hop. See Nate Dogg for a better illustration. They are called "singers" for lack of a better words. They are more of moaners or some rap/chant hybrid shit.

People are not that stupid. To compare Aaliyah to Chaka Khan is a fucking joke to anybody who knows anything. The argument is that we have as much love for Aaliyah as your generation had for Chaka Khan.

The reason music sucks now is because of three very important reasons...

1. The record companies do not spend the type of money or have type of time to "develop" artists. They are not going to discover a Whitney Houston and train her to become the "next". They are not going to give him/her two years to put together a album. They do not have millions to pour into one person/group because the tens of millions are not on the backend anymore.

2. Carry on of number one...Producers are getting paid out the ass right now. The only way to get a track cheap is to give a producer a label and let him produce his own talent. Take Timbaland for example. Missy and Ginuwine first couple of albums he was all over it. Now he may drop a track or two. It's because the demand for a "hitmaker" is high. So now you are depending on producers to find talent. Do you think they have the time or money to "develop" acts?

3. Records are not selling. It's not that slow grind anymore. It took Nas almost two years to go platinum with that first album. That shit is unheard of today.

You got a catchy song, then record companies don't have to push for radio play. Get a buzz, less promotion. Dollars are made right there. Damn if the man got something to say or is any good at music.

That shit is universal. Back the hell off the South. They'll be in Iowa doing the same thing if Iowa could make it hot.
I understand and this is a valid point but still kind of flawed. You are still thinking that these artists are getting paid and they are selling records. Neither is the case. Radio and club spins do not equal sell through at the store. It used to be a given if a rapper would sell a million or not, now thses dudes are barely pushing 150,000 out the door. and they are lucky if they sell 500,000.

Record sales also do not equal money in the pocket for the artists. Most of them don't even make back their advances and wind up owing the label. If you see flashing, you have to know it is either rented or on lease, not owned by the artists. If they do own it they blew their advance on it and they have to borrow from the lavel to pay for their album, which their advance was supposed to cover.

So if the album comes out and doesn't sell and the have a3 album deal, they owe for the first one, the advance on the second and the second album itself. This is called Cross-Collateralization. Where you are paying for your first album with your second album. All property bought with advance money is property of the label (Cars, Jewelery, House, etc.) If they sue you they can take all of that back because it's theirs. Suge did this to 2pac with stuff other artists bought, like Michel`e's house and car.

You should really check those soundscans you'd be surprised just how much stuff is not selling as opposed to the radio play it gets.

So the question is: If this stuff isn't selling on any level, why aren't we hearing better skilled artists in any genre on the radio and video? The answer to that is a topic for another discussion.

New York was immune to the talented musician disease for about five years before it's demise. I call it the "Jiggy/Puff Daddy" phase. Anybody remember that?

The "them" I am talking about was in response to the line..."Don't think about the people from either coast who had long lasting careers with classic material." AKA the gimmick rappers. People tend to confuse those.

I don't give a damn how much you liked Shabazz the Disciple, Blahzay Blahzay, Craig Mack...I could go on...they did not leave a lasting impression on hip-hop, but had hot flashes of talent. Those people are gimmicky to me. They caught something that was hot and rode it.
Craig Mack was garbage anyway so that's not valid.

Who Ever Said He Could Sing?
If Its Somebody On Bgol..please Expose Them :hmm:

the only reason he's popular is because the production is good and he got a few dance moves.
kinda remind me of ciara...cant sing worth a dam but got good production and can dance good

Nigga please. I respect those who can show skill. If he's a good writer as you say he is then let stay off the mic because as I have shown you, he sucks. You guys are so quick to throw out the hater word when you don't have a valid point to make.

Get over that shit. So all you have to is be out and it don't matter if you have any business being there? That' beyond ignorant.

What do you think the kids that are seeing this are thinking? They say T-Pain can't sing and he got a deal, so why can't I and they don't bother to learn anything about music, which is a vital part of our history as a people.

Enablers like you are the reason why music sucks today. You don't hold any artist to any kind of standard and just accept everything as is.

All you listen to is the beat anyway. So what do you know about music? Nothing.

well you know t-pain said in an interview that he couldnt sing at all. he said that he was told that his album was going to be singing instead of rapping. he was on the radio here in the atl a while back. that shit was funny as hell tho...

He was on Miss Jones in NYC (hot 97) and she asked him if he could sing without the effects and he said "of course".

Here's a demonstration of the software he uses to get the effect on his voice.

[FLASH]http://www.youtube.com/v/RYiN2N_JADg[/FLASH]

Now as further proof, here he is "singing" on Jimmy Kimmel Live without the effect.

Honestly I don't know who's worse, him or his back ups. Oh and the comments on the You Tube page are hilarious.

This is no mystery but funny I was talkin about this with someone yesterday.

MelodyneStudio-large.jpg

Melodyne works also. Its what I use on my less talented vocalists. But never that extreme.

You can even change the melody after the singer has left the building.

Everyone knows that you don't need talent to make it in the music industry. :smh:

Please. You trying to compare Roger and Zapp to T-Pain? You know nothing about music.

Roger and Zapp could sing without the effects, many people who have seen them live will readily confirm this.

I just posted factual proof that this dude can't and I'm hating? Boy you guys use that term very loosely, learn what it means before you throw it out there.

Please try to.

all t-pain is the modern day Roger Troutman for those who don't know who he is. Here you go Vocoders been around for years did we forget about Teddy Riley. But heres more on Roger Troutman and can the hate stop after this.

Innovative funkster Roger Troutman was the master of the vocoder -- a keyboard synthesizer that created robotic-sounding vocals through the simultaneous use of a piano-like interface and a breath controller (breath tube), somewhat like a guitar talk box. What James Jamerson did for the bass, Jimi Hendrix for the guitar, and Stevie Wonder for the harmonica, Troutman did for the vocoder.

Like I said before....Roger could actually sing & play several instruments...It's an insult to even say T-Pain & Roger in the same breath.

You have to be stupid as fuck if you didn't know he couldn't sing. But he makes some hot as songs that's all that matters. There are alot of rappers that aren't really gangsta, but they still make good music. Look at 50 Cent.

You said GOOD music right? :smh:

You need to work on your analogies bruh.

dayum... that dude could make money for that song RIGHT NOW... lol. Hope it aint only me ... im luvvin it and can't get that chorus out of my head.

Been looking for something like this for a long time
I got a bunch of songs that i would like to record not for me to sing them.I want them to sound good the way i want them to be sung by someone else .
Where can i get this program can anybody upload it

I was really waiting for this to happen. I predicted it when he first came out, but nobody believed me. He's not even a singer, and he never was. He sounds like a goddamn munchkin singing about the lolly-pop song. This is as bad as the Milli Vanilli fiasco of 1990. :smh:

Now it's time for a real R&B singer to emerge on the scene.

5-STAR POST!!!!

It's agreed that Tpeezy cant sing,
All he did was use the same effect that "Cher" made famous years ago and made it his signature sound unlike cher who did not want to have sound as her way of singing
I will say his style of singing will NOT last BUT his songwiting will keep him in the just watch

50 Cent doesn't make good music. Horrible example. Not every rapper has to make gangsta rap, look at Common.

Again you're missing the point. I said in my first post in this thread. "As if we didn't know." Reading is fundamental, and comprhension is key.

Secong as I said this is a joke thread, not to be taken seriously, just to have some fun.
