i don't buy all these supposedly secret excuses. face it, brock is the guy who always relied on brute strength. because of his physical prowess, and just the image of a fighter that is something like 270 lbs of muscle people never concentrated on the fact that as a fighter he is very inexperienced. he was brought into the UFC not because of his fighting background, but because Dana White knew it would bring over a lot of his pro wrestling fans. it wasn't until the carwin fight that we saw anything even remotely suggesting that he was working on the technical aspects of MMA (the choke), and even then we only saw that because of carwin's gassing out. all of his previous fights he relied on brute strength and the fact that he outweighed his opponents sometimes by 50+ pounds (Randy Couture?? dude was approaching 50 and has at times in his life fought at light heavy weight!). even against Randy he was getting pushed around, controlled against the cage etc. people were just too caught up on the size difference (even i thought that if brock took cain down that it might be over for cain), and this was a great fight to kind of show everyone that most of the time technique will conquer strength.
if brock was really not 100% there is no way in hell that dana would have pushed him to come back early. brock is the UFC's cash cow. bringing him back early and potentially injuring him after one fight is silly when, if you were under the impression that he couldnt lose (as the UFC seemed to think), you could have had him fighting 2 times a year for the next 2-3 years.
