Official Man Of Steel reviews! Love it or Hate it! Discuss it here! MERGED! SPOILERS

Re: Official Man Of Steel reviews! Love it or Hate it! Discuss it here! MERGED! SPOI

Shheesh.. You keep assuming that Jor-El (or his ghost) had to actually be ON THE SHIP for the Superman suit to be made.

If he was using the drone, then Jor-El (nor his ghost) did not have to be 'physically' onboard to make the suit. :smh:

He could have easily stored the drone commands on the ship's computer long before it ever left Krypton. (i.e. while he was building the spaceship)

Somehow your dinner is ready, but you were not in the room when it got made.
Somehow a Superman suit is ready, but Jor-El was not on the ship when it got made.

Same principle.

Did you actually pay attention to any dialogue in the movie or are you one of the idiots that see explosions and buildings crumbling so you crown it "best movie eva"? You seem hard of understanding so let me put it this way:

The ship was on Earth 20,000 years before present day.
- I think we can both agree that there was no Superman suit onboard for that period, right?

You: "Jor-El command key blah blah blah had the instructions for the drone bullshit"

What I take issue with is that even with the slightly plausible notion that the suit was made by the protective drone that we see guarding the ship when Clark finds it.......Oops but Clark destroyed it when it attacked Lois....okay, well fuck that notion.

My point being, without Jor-El's consciousness on the ship, the suit doesn't get made.

The sequence of Clark inserts key, ship flys away, he meets Jor-El, *opens door #1* "Here's your suit" seemed too convenient to me. The movie failed in explaining how that suit could materialize on a 20,000 year old ship by way of Jor-El's "hacking" into the ship.

Fuck, I'm so tired of discussing this, I'll even accept Kryptonian sewing machine chamber at this point.

Take all of that scrutiny of details, now apply it to the first two movies you love so much.

Now, tell me, how does Superman orbiting the Earth cause it to change its spin and considering that time has nothing to do with the Earth's rotation, how does that cause time to go backwards.

Now, after beating the suit argument to death, please don't have the unmitigated gall to say that it's just a movie so it doesn't matter.

We eagerly await your response.

Why the fuck are you trying to argue a point that has nothing to do with the conversation?

Not just naming actors simply because they're bald. But we also can't trust actors simply because they won Academy Awards either. Didn't turn out so good last time
Lex_Luthor_Kevin_Spacey.jpg

I agree Tical, as I posted earlier that this version of Luthor needs to be dead serious, whoever plays him. Like when I posted about him a few pages ago, done right I think he could be even more memorable than "The Dark Knight" Joker.

That means no bullshit real estate schemes!

Completely agree another important point is the following: I think whatever plan Luther comes up with needs to be self-sufficient once put in motion. We as an audience shouldn't be thinking,

"Why doesn't he just punch Luther in the throat and be done with it? Threat Neutralized"

I've always hated when Luther is written as a physical-type of nemesis to Superman. His unwillingness to hurt people is the main bases for the plans traction. That won't fly anymore, especially now that we've seen this Superman WILL kill to save lives.

This Lex Luthor needs to attempt to beat Superman with his mind and it needs to look and feel very authentic and plausible. Luthors mind has always been his greatest asset and something that has been very poorly(Superman 1 tried) depicted in the live movies.

The Joker in "The Dark Knight" is one of the closest I've ever seen to a highly intelligent bad guy truly being several steps ahead of anyone. You felt genuine fear for "The Batman" and you felt genuine fear that he was easily the smartest person in the room. Lex Luther needs to be this TIMES 10!

The only problem is I think writing a character to that level is extremely hard for most of Hollywood. How do you write for a character that's X-times smarter than most of Hollywood writers combined and still have it feel authentic?

Lex Luthor is considered one of the smartest most calculated person on the planet.I challenge you Hollywood to SHOW US THAT, If you can?

The fact that Superman in this series will snap necks, takes away from his character. If Superman in MoS was shown to really have a love for life/humanity, then Luthor psychologically defeating him would have a greater effect. Since Superman (in this iteration) will kill you if you're a threat, the writers will really have to find ways to make Superman vulnerable to Lex.....

If you were just a little bit more intelligent, you might understand critical thinking and reasoning.

Thinking critically, if you proclaim that MoS is inferior to the original two Superman films, then assert that the main qualifiers of this position are percieved breaks in narrative continuity, and then try to bolster your arguement by introducing examples of said inconsistencies, then, any retort to your original assertation of the superior quality of said original films that then use your own interjected and self qualified criteria of consistancy of narrative or absense thereof are entirely valid and any arising doubts of the validity of all of your claims certainly are founded on solid footing.

Also the irony of you claiming I am changing the question while you completely danced around my question and changed the subject.

good points

With all tha being said I still prefer The Dark Knight to any superhero flick that has hit the screen.

One thing I see people mention is that this MOS is too moody. I certainly didnt get that feel from watching it

That's the rub though. Plotholes and inconsistencies was never my reasoning for liking the original two films over this one. I wasn't the one to bring up those aspects of said films. M'fuckers need to take time and read. If you had any intelligence at all, you would know that. This IS BGOL though, reading comprehension is few and far in between

Amazingly Superman 1 & 2 hold up pretty well. Seems they are timeless. Unlike movies like Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. I watched that the other day like "why was this shit so critically acclaimed?" It didn't age well at all.

Star Trek is MUCH MORE electronics driven, much the same way "Star Trek:TOS" doesn't hold up to "Star Trek:TNG", things just don't seem realistic when things YOU own like your smartphone are more advanced than 80% of the equipment on a ship from 200 years in the future!

I felt that it was good, 3 out of 5, but as pointed out you have NO reason to care for the characters, Jackie Cooper ran circles around Fishburne's Perry White because the ONLY scene he got a chance to do anything was when he was looking @ the trapped girl, and in terms of chemistry Superman could've hit up Lois Lane for sexual harassment, the kiss they had was waayyy too forced, it was on some well we're a man and a woman that have been thru a lot soooo... type ish, and I'd STILL like to know exactly WHY did Zod want Lois Lane along if he never even hinted @ using her to get what he wanted from Kal?!?

The Writers already explained why they had him kill Zod how his morals will play into the next flick.

Re: Official Man Of Steel reviews! Love it or Hate it! Discuss it here! MERGED! SPOI

That bullshit was stupid as hell. :hmm:

Sound like it was written by an angry 'hater' who knows very little about Superman cannon.

---------------------

For example, the author writes:

Superman: What do you need the planet for?

Zod: Enh, we’re going terraform it and kill all the humans to make it more like Krypton.

Superman: Really? You know that as it stands, the planet gives us super awesome powers, right? I mean, you feel shitty for a little bit first, but then you get used to and it’s awesome.

---------------------

This snarky jackass writer thinks that Superman gets his powers from PLANET EARTH.... and not the YELLOW SUN. :hmm:

And that's the problem with his entire article.
He's soo busy hating on MoS... he can't even get his 'super' facts straight. :smh:

It's like someone who writes a diss article about Game of Thrones.... while saying stupid shit like.... 'Tyrion is Jon Snow's brother'.

Even without that, Zod is genetically programmed to protect kryptonians. To protect them and ensure the survival of their race. So he doesn't give a fuck about superpowers, he doesn't give a fuck about superman over his people, he doesn't give a shit about humans over his people. He has ONE goal. Hell, he didn't even want Kal, he just wanted the codex. If superman said fuck it, lets do this there'd really be no conflict between the two.

Since you're maki a lot of assumptions, allow me to make some of my own.

It could very well be that one kryptonians started to genetically engineer their people they reached a technological plateau and their tech remained constant for 20,000 years. Therefore everything would be the same.

Or, they could've hit a wormhole which had them crash 20,000 years in the past. They can fuck around with the time in many different ways. You focusing on the suit as a plot hole is foolish.

He killed a kryptonian who was thisclose to killing humans.

So his whole no killing thing can very much be intact. He killed someone because he had no choice. Fighting Zod is like a man fighting another man.

But killing humans? A race of people he can kill with absolutely no effort? Also he can be bothered by killing Zod to the point where he absolutely resists killing anyone or anything.

So while Luthor can do something that can kill a million people, he still is a man and Superman wont kill him.

Re: Official Man Of Steel reviews! Love it or Hate it! Discuss it here! MERGED! SPOI

And I think no one was talking to you...
The argument is valid. If you're this critical over something like the suit, he can then question you about your opinion regarding a plot point in the original, if you're making a comparison between the two. You're deflecting his argument because you have no response.

Now go ahead with a simplistic reply to me to continue to deflect.

Lois published an article about how she had found him. She told Kal Zod had gone into her mind to get info and then they showed up at the Kent ranch. They were looking for the ship Kal landed in and perhaps were not able to get Kal to reveal info about his mother, but could get the info fom Lois.

It's no stretch @ all for a suit that went thru the battles Kal had against his fellow Kryptonians UNSCATHED to exist for over 20,000 years, hell even Earth materials can do the same in an airtight environment, that being the ship itself.

The writers of a flick shouldn't have to explain something after the fact, they should let their film speak for itself.

I've already said the films writers were lazy. This thread is proof of that. (example: the Superman suit question). The audience shouldn't have to fill in the blanks for a 2+hour modern blockbuster film, especially when the writers of said film had enough time to do so.

I don't know WHAT THE FUCK you're talking about.

I think the best thing to do would be to have Luthor, and have him introduce Bizarro.

There was actually a version of "Bizarro" in "Superman 3"

Actually that's just Superman on Red Kryptonite.

Nuclear Man in Superman 4 was suppose to be Bizarro.

It's not.

It really isn't.

Not every little thing needs to be spelled the fuck out for viewers man. They don't need to go into that detail. It's a kryptonian ship. That's enough. How he got his clothes doesn't add nor take away from the film- it's just a thing. A detail that's small.

And this is my field, filmmaking. You're splitting hairs.

Let me ask you. Does showing the exact manner in which he got his suit - showing how its created and taking the time to explain why add ANYTHING to the film, except take away one thing to bitch about?

Mark Strong as Lex Luther? What do you think? I don't know anything about him.

Man of Steel is a genuine box office hit for Warner Bros., with the studio announcing last week that Man of Steel 2 is already in development and director Zack Snyder will return to helm. Today, insiders close to the production are claiming that Mark Strong is wanted by both Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. as Lex Luthor for this sequel.

I understood why they brought her, my point was that once she was on board they never did, they didn't even refer to her, they could've used her as a chip against Kal, that would've @ least qualified her for being there, they simply threw her in a room that conveniently had a terminal for the "key" to go into, which she of course subsequently escaped from, which then brings you back around to my initial question!

No one is arguing that it's impossible for Kryptonian clothes to last for centuries.

But lets entertain your comment though, if that's the case, how would a suit, that I'll assume was made specifically for Kal and his mission of bridging the peoples of Earth and Krypton, exist on a scout ship that arrives 20,000 prior to Kal getting there?( whose arrival is predicated upon Krypton's circumstantial demise)

Superman actually flew around the world, turned time back 20,000 years, got the suit, then revved time back up to present day.

In the grand scheme of the film, does it matter? Nope. But would it matter to someone that feels that the story lacked depth and concentrated on CGI to the extent of the movie drifting into generic blockbuster territory....yep.

You in filmmaking though, you should know that viewers pull different things from their movie viewing experience.
