Dude is under contract with the Sixers for 4 years. If he doesn't show up, he doesn't get paid or accrue time in his contract.
Which means, he'll have the same 4 next year. He's in the unenviable position that his replacement works better for the team.
The examples you are using involve players with 1 or 2 years left on their deals. They had leverage. Either trade me or get nothing.
What leverage does Ben have? Sure Philly may not get the AD deal, but they'll get a good deal. Especially is they are patient.
Which they can be if Maxey continues to grow. Ben & his agent have backed themselves into a corner.
If they sit, they get no money. If they show up, they look like they loss. Other than losing a regular season all star, Philly will be fine.
