So, my receptionist caught it while she was attending a church retreat. I'm glad her girl snitched on her to me and I asked her to take a test before coming back to work....
Good catch. If she test positive, and didn't tell her employer, could that could be grounds for discipline, does HIPPA cover her?

I have no idea. I was just so lucky that I made her get a test with written results. She threatened to quit when I told her to do it. I can't afford to lose her , so we have worked out a deal for her to stay.

Got a shitty text about 15 mins ago from my mom.

"I'm in hospital. Got a nasty hip fracture. Need surgery."

She elaborated afterward ... turns out she was getting a little covid exercise. A friendly game of beginners pickleball. Calm. Nothing strenuous. Took a hard fall. On standby surgery either later today or at the latest tomorrow.

What the fuck, man?

She turns 70 next week.

Fuck you Corona!

:angry::smh::curse::hithead::scream:

Pickleball is a paddleball sport (similar to a racquet sport) that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.[2] Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, with 26-40 round holes, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports: the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules somewhat similar to tennis, with several modifications. Pickleball was invented in the mid 1960s as a children's backyard game.[3]

The sport is growing internationally too. Many European and Asian countries have started adding pickleball courts.

Dam hope everything goes well with her? Isn't she in B.C? That's a lot better than being here in the states if so

Sorry to hear about the family losses in this thread, stay up brethren. Here's hoping shit gets better soon.

This push to reopen schools is so fucking retarded. My cynicism about ppl has gotten even worse lately :smh:
:smh: You? I already despised these creatures. This shit made it much, much worse. Cisco family sitting this out COMPLETELY and we all cool with it. Spent a few bucks and upgraded everyone's entertainment options. Added pets(delivered). We were close to putting a bid in on 30+ acres but decided to wait until 2021 to see if the market goes down thanks to these greedy fucks not doing a stimulus.

Home prices seem inflated right now, but the bottom line is this Covid taught us going to the stores ain't needed. We get all our shit shipped here, so Corona finally made it clear we can buy a lot of land and live way out without missing shit.

Covid allowed me to focus on business more since jump offs are a no go. :eek2: Had to turn that energy somewhere else. Hired some sale people and expanded.

No one close to me has got sick. We talk to fam via video call. We all agreed to chill until a vaccine. We've been fortunate. Fucked up that covids killed people, got some on the verge of financial ruin, but this year been better to me than crypto boom of 2017 and that's saying a helluvalot. Made family much, much closer.

Just weird how life works. Covid taught me a lot.

That's really dope to hear fam... good shit! It's a luxury to be able to do that and I'm glad that your family is doing well in these fucked up times. Ditto on the business stuff, that's amazing. This year has made me reevaluate a lot of shit in my life but luckily haven't had much turbulence to deal with - things are steady and I'm working from home and getting errythang delivered to my little fort like some kind of middle eastern despot lol. Feel lucky in some respects but need to make moves so I can legit say I've made progress on some important goals at the end of the year.

I'll take what I've got tho! No complaints

Thanks for the positive energy, guys. Haven't heard back today, though she noted surgery would either be later today or sometime tomorrow. I'll add more info (hopefully all good) in the days ahead. Definitely one of those notes that sort of derails your morning. Fractured hip? Huh? Damn.

Here's the latest. She was on standby for the surgery on Saturday, or at the latest Sunday morning. Texted with her a bit on Saturday to help keep her mind off things. Ended up getting the surgery later in the morning Sunday. Checked in with her Sunday afternoon & she noted she would hit me up later. Called me around 7pm and we talked for 15 mins. It was her left hip that was fractured. She chased down a volley & lost her footing. Went down pretty hard. Realized it was bad when she couldn't get up on her own. Luckily her friend was with her & there were nearby tennis players in the area, so they stayed by to make sure she was calm until the ambulance arrived. Looking back - I'm really glad it didn't happen at home as things could have been worse. You never know. At least it was daylight outdoors @ a park. She hadn't had a chance to check in with the surgeon re: an update as of yesterday evening. Hopefully she gets that today. Gonna do a general check-in with her shortly. Hopefully a call later on. Can't really have visitors there - restrictions and all. Her room has 3 beds. Only 1 other person in there though - a 97yo woman. Said she feels pretty safe while recuperating.

She turns 70yo tomorrow.

A birthday to remember, huh?

Texted with her earlier. She noted she was getting a blood transfusion after 1:30pm PST. Hemoglobin count was too low. Same was contributing to her lightheadedness & rapid pulse rate. Said this will help with the "physeal appointment" eventually so that they can stand her up without her feeling like she might pass out.

Updated some family & relatives by phone & email today. Wanted to have further information from her so that I could pass along updates properly without snippets of texts, etc. Make it more clear for them.

Wearing a mask but not covering your nose? You’re doing it all wrong

Not only does it fly in the face of common sense, but it’s even more concerning in light of recent research showing COVID-19 has an easier time infecting people through the nasal passage than the mouth.

The market in the NW is crazy here too. Waiting until next year to buy one too. Great low rates, but people are asking for way too much
Really hope shit crashes, but If Covid is pushing this with telecommuting and people realizing how much house they can actually get if they leave the city, prices might stay high for a minute. I'm preparing for that reality too.

WIRED goes in-depth on the risk of contracting COVID-19 from surfaces

Early on during the pandemic, many people spent significant amounts of time carefully scrubbing and disinfecting surfaces out of fear of contracting COVID-19. Studies by scientists and experts now suggest that the risk of contracting the virus from a surface is quite low — though washing your hands regularly remains essential. WIRED looked into the latest research.
