while I agree that tmo has been dropping the ball phone wise, I think they are setting themselves up for a breakout year. the gphone is going to be their flagship droid joint plus they are building out their network in a big way. hell I've been waiting for the G2 as long as anyone, and who knows, the passion/dragon is just a code name. when I hits they just might brand it the G2. it'll be interesting to see if they can finally step it up..................
yeah but they rn't dropping their bigger better network til mid 2010...and the gphone won't be exclusive every carrier(cept for att it seems) will have a ultra powerful gphone...tmo will just get it 1st which will mean the next carrier who gets it will make it better. see how they got the g1 and mytouch then the hero which is the same thing as the mytouch dropped and no one mentions the mytouch anymore. the cliq is a nice phone but after the droid came in and smashed all others no one mentions it except to say it looks cheap made...
thats my main issue with tmo they have cutsy style phones round edges pleasing to the eye...nothing really stands out...
thats the main reason i jumped to vzw...the droid looks different its not cute its steel and metal with a power engine...it set the new standard for vzw in terms of smart phones now so much so they r making a line of droids....
tmo coulda took the android os and made it their flagship selling point....dropped different variants of an android...no reason on earth why they should have passed on the droid. NONE. that form factor plus their rate plans woulda been a winner.
sprint is doing the same shit with the web os...only vzw is like we'll drop a different phone for different people...droid for power users with ads aimed at men and geeks...and the eros aimed at people who want a smartphone with some power but who aren't geeks.
tmo is aiming at teens and older people and forgetting the 21 to 40 age group...if u want an adult looking phone on tmo u get a blackberry which to me is fucked up no reason why the droids out couldn't be on tmo too...
and abandoning the keyboard is pure bs to me...
I hope tmo does something to get an identity other than being the cheaper rate mobile company....
its a shame that a year after being the only android carrier that they aren't even a serious mention anymore...whereas verizon dropped 2 androids the same day only a month ago and stole all that android thunder from tmo...
fucked up thing is if they do bend over to apple and get the iphone android will get buried on tmo....
shameful shit.
