update works! 1st reboot after update may take a min but after that its gravy...here's hoping for some recovery keys and custom roms...with FLASH lol....that experian theme is smooth...would look good on DROID.

Is the performance any faster...even though it was already fast enough

Found a ROM even FASTER than cyanogen...its uses cyan as the base and uses other tweaks to make it MUCH faster with out taking a toll on the battery. Ill post soon

yeah its performance is much improved and the home replacement I use its much better with it.
I notice with 2.0 home replacements work better(except for better home)....
Now I need to root this weekend get a recovery key and a rom with flash built in and app2sd and a nice theme...

I have tested it by just flashing over from Cyans 4.2.7.1 ROM and everything is still in perfect working order.

The speed is on "Bat outta Hell" level and the zip-align feature+10MB hack really speeds up the performance of the phone.

Just flash the 8.2r1 build and then pick which version you wanna flash [10MB RAM Hack
No RAM Hack (for 3D Gamers)]

Then Flash the Build 8.2r2.2 (Incremental update)

It took the normal amount of time to reboot like any other ROM or theme [5-15min] and then go from there.

Far as the MetaMorph themes go some of them arent working with this but its being worked on as you read. And I dont know about the Lockscreens either. Ill PM him and ask about it.

If you guys like cyan then I would defo give this a try

With T-Mobile promising to roll out HSPA 7.2 by years end, and HSPA+ 21Mbps by the middle of 2010, a few lucky residents of Philly have already been blessed with T-Mobile’s ultra fast 3G network. A lucky individual over at jkontherun was kind enough to share his hands-on experience with T-Mobile’s HSPA+, currently live in the Philadelphia area. Using a T-Mobile webConnect USB stick the individual started out and tested T-Mobile’s current 3G network, which resulted in speeds around 1.11 Mbps download and 0.67 Mbps upload speeds. Then the individual used the same hardware in the HSPA+ test network, and noticed speeds noticeably increased, yielding, 5.58 Mbps download and 1.23 Mbps upload. That’s some blazing fast mobile speeds! The individual also tested the HSPA+ network out on the Nokia N900 which supports T-Mobile USA 3G bands. Easy way how to improve 3G(2G) troughput

UPDATE: it seems that for some users is needed to do two reboots after each change of prop file.

It seems that is work for most users with rom based on DRC83. It seems that works in US and EU region. Therefore I decided to start separate thread (something was discussed in cyanogen's thread).
I tested it on cyanogen 4.2.7.1 but it should work with other ROMs too. I think that improvement is depedent on presence of HSUPA feature in your network.
Try it and let us to know....

I have found that my cyan G1 is much slower in uplink in 3G network than official TMO EU G1. Same radio but "primary band" (phone info menu) was different....
Cyan (and other US ROMS):
62.50S.20.17H_2.22.1.26l
TMO EU:
62.50S.20.17U_2.22.1.26l

I found difference in build.trout.prop (build.prop - TMO) which make this difference.

Cyan (TMO US):
ro.ril.hsxpa=1
ro.ril.gprsclass=10
TMO EU:
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.ril.gprsclass=12

I changed values in build.trout.prop.... TADAAA
62.50S.20.17U_2.22.1.26l is showed in phone info. Uplink is almost three times faster. It seems that is some improvement in EDGE too (gprsclass).

THEORY:
US ROMS has disabled HSUPA feature.
ro.ril.hsxpa=0 - UMTS r99
ro.ril.hsxpa=1 - HSDPA
ro.ril.hsxpa=2 - HSDPA/HSUPA

I have the build.trout.prop with the new entries, and two shell scripts included to do the work for you. Unzip the contents of trout.zip to the sdcard on your phone. Open the terminal and enter

su
sh /sdcard/troutswitch.sh

Once this done it will create a back up of the old prop to the sdcard and reboot.

To restore the original .bak file...open the terminal and enter

su
sh /sdcard/troutrestore.sh

and once again it will reboot and restore the original file

Edit: Both scripts are made to reboot the phone when finished running. This is supposed to happen, so do not worry.

As far the root process goes, you can actually do it yourself seeing as the process itself is pretty easy. There a many different ways to ROOT your your phone in this thread or on XDA. Ill be more than happy to help you out and walk you the process. Trust me its VERY painless.

i know the droid is slated for 2.1 in january as are other devices(based on carrier) so far tmo and vzw deliver those updates i have no idea how sprint does updates.

just installed the genie.apk from 2.1 since the 2.1 os was dumped...lemme telle y'all this shit is incredible!
