Can anyone put up detailed directions on how to root 1.5 and get the 2.0 os? alot of us noobs are struggling
root guides are on here a few pages back but it depends on your phone...so far only 2.0 phone is droid so u can't put 2.0 on anyother device unless its a rom.
i never rooted so my advice is go back a few pages or search g1 root or whatever device u use. so far only the htc devices have root and the droids...no one has rooted the samsungs so if u have a samsung android ur outta luck and i dont think the hero has been rooted yet its an htc but i dont think yet...so only the early tmo's g1's and mytouches...

The Hero has BEEN rooted for a quite a while now...and the samsung moment has gotten rooted as well

Far as the the 2.0/1 roms go..They have ported them over to work on the G1/MT3G and just about any phone that has root and recovery. Sad part about em is that they are full of bugs and half of the OS doesnt work correctly. Cyan just recently started adding bits and pieces from 2.0 into his rom and the have custom themes to make your phone look like 2.0[I have one]
what type of phone do you have...from there we can guide you to the right place for what ever you wanna do

[ROM] Eclair_2.0.1-v1.1 G1/MT3G 32B Nexus Bootanimation!
And i must say the shit is niiiiiiiceeeee...Im about to see if i can install a advanced laucher seeing as I only have the standard 3 screens...if this lets me use the overclock apps and this...im sticking with this for a while to show off muahahahahah

What doesn't work on that ROM? I know there are probably a ton of things nonfunctional like when they came out with the Hero ROMs...
So far its just the camera that's not active...the SU permissions are broken so you can't use rooted apps on this rom. But other than that everything is perfect working order

I appreciate this thread but agree with some posters that for some reason can't make this root thing happen. I tried to root my g1 phone twice and have been unsuccessful, unlockr method has me stuck at same screen dude has, with replace application. any suggestions or should i start over by unrooting?

It will more than likely depend on the phone. If its a newer phone you woukldnt need to simply because they come with 1GB of internal memory. If its an older phone you gonna have to activate Apps2SD manually. Reason being most stock 2.0/1 roms don't run that program because its not as stable just yet. But ill keep you updated on the issue
What network are you on? If your sprint then your update will come in Jan. When they release the rom you can manually install it. Ill post a tutorial for this as well.
Far as verizon goes, I haven't heard anything about them yet but ill keep you posted
