iTrapped: All the things Apple won’t let you do with your iPhone

What type of PC is decent to you though? Cuz I got a XPS 8940 with a I5-400, 1660K, 256 mb, 8 gig for 619.99 months ago. I posted the dell on the board.

and that comes with keyboard and mouse so I don't know what you're talking about. You must be on some high end hardware.

I was thinking about copping a Macbook air, i couldn't afford the pro but instead I got a P14 second gen for the same price.

I'm talking about laptops. All of the pc laptop deals are on laptops with awful screens, battery life, keyboards, touchpads etc. Once you manage to find one that actually is decent, it costs the same or even more than a MBP or Air. I'll be damned if I am spending $1,500 + to remove bloatware and also have to deal with windows.:smh::lol:

That is my main point with all of this. You have to spend close to $1,000 to get a PC with a decent screen/battery/keyboard when I can spend around the same on a retina MBP. I had bullshit Toshiba's and hated Apple before I made the switch to the G4 Powerbook :lol:Not looked back since.
How much does one have to pay to get a mac with a decent screen/battery/keyboard? Not close to a grand? I'm not sure what point you're making here.

I feel like you don't realize that all you're saying is that a certain quality of computer costs about the same no matter which platform it is lol

Also not sure about bloatware, I had literally zero shit on mine when I got it. You sure you are speaking from experience and not just buzzwords + talking pernts?

How many replacement pixels did you get though? :roflmao: Don't tell me otherwise, do let me pull up that build quality issue over the years.

I know a dude with a damn 6s in 2021 and it still works:D

Still rocking my original Pixel 2XL from 2017

Had a battery issue with my Nexus 6P. They sent me a brand new replacement Pixel XL which I traded in days later to cover half of the 2 XL

I just picked up a m1 air for $899 on sale. Way cheaper than the 16" MBP I wanted but still good for what I need it for. My point is people say that Apple is overpriced when I am paying similar prices to get a better Mac than I would PC and I don't have to deal with a lot of the shit that comes with a PC. The comparable PC was the XPS 13 which can be configured to have a better screen than the Mac for $350 but also has a worse battery and much lower benchmarks than the M1 is putting up. It made no sense to pay more for the PC I didn't want when I could get a better Mac for cheaper. The only advantage I could see with the Dell is the port situation. I didn't find anything PC with an IPS display or comparable battery life /build quality for $899. I haven't bought PC in more than 15 years so maybe I am looking in the wrong places or something.

I had a laptop that needed to “upgrade” from Windows 8 to 10. Drove me crazy. I’ve been Mac every since.

agree, i have only a spigen tough armor case on mine, and it still fits perfectly in my pocket.

Be careful with that case. That used to be my goto for my phones until I realized it traps the heat of the phone, eventually causing the battery to bulge. After it happened to three different phones I stopped buying the case and it hasn't happened since.

So you're saying...your $899 mac was better than a pc that cost more than that? Literally never heard anyone say that lol sound like cap

Macs have never even tried to be the cost effective solution. They've evened out a bit recently, I'll say that. You bought an M1?

It didn't just do it by itself? That was like 6 years ago and all my joints just asked if I wanted to and I clicked yeah and that was it lol

The XPS 13 was around $1,100 and had a worse battery and screen in addition to having a slower processor. I got the m1 air for $899 but I have seen them as low as $750.

thanks. i've had it on there for like 3 straight years now. Its just a regular skin case.

Glad yall Apple Wizards spoke up! Wuz saving up for the 13, but I might can do more with a Surface Pro-Mobile or Pixel if I need a small phone.

Yeah the M1s making it hard out here on pc laptops lol

What about the thinkpads man? I’ve seen a few thinkpads with the new i5 and it’s pretty good I have one now.
Thinkbooks can be had with the i7 and 512 sad and 16 gigs of ram for 700 and dell just ended a special for the Inspiron 5402 with good specs for 550.

I didn’t want to get the air it looked too flimsy if I couldn’t get the pro I’d get a pc again.

This is why these takes get me

When people say apple, they mean one thing. When people say android/windows, they mean one thing when it refers to about a thousand things. There are shit android and windows devices and there are amazing android and windows devices.

I have a windows laptop that blows the fucking doors off an identically spec'd MacBook (which didn't exist, but the highest spec'd MacBook that WAS available was still over a grand more, for less performance), so that's one reason to not get a mac. They are not always the best option.

I also think pc's are still fighting the "windows bullshit" stigma from back when people still got viruses and shit in the 2000's. I can't even remember when I last had to deal with any OS weirdness.

Some people don't mind paying more for less performance and the virtue signaling thing has always been a part of apple culture. Not even making a judgment on it, just stating the fact.

I think it just comes down to use case

I do processing-intense graphics, audio, and video. A fringe benefit of buying a machine that can handle that well is I game again now.

But for people who don't need all that, the range you mentioned can be perfectly good machines.

There's a reason when they benchmark this stuff with pro video production and graphic intense games. If you don't do all that then you don't need all that. I think any machine with an i5 and 16gb of ram and ssd should run like the wind for 85% of the computer using public.

Just make sure you're comfortable with display and build quality and I'd also say consider how well rated their customer support is.

10 is the bomb...

I’m not a huge fan of it. My daughter has it on her computer and laptop. Her gaming desktop is smooth with it.

Her laptop hard drive crashed it long ago and I had to buy a new one and reinstall Win10. I created an usb boot for installation and didn’t have to buy a key because it was stored on the cloud. That was the best thing ever. No bloat ware or anything. Desktop is running smooth as fuck.

That being said, I’m a Linux guy. I need my operating systems to give me troubles for a few days (weeks) [months].

I feel you fam, I have dabbled in a few of the hundreds of Linux distros too. It instantly makes me feel better about Windows 10.

we are the worse. Don’t ever tell us to pay for some software. Well look at you like you’re crazy.

I rock my laptops until the wheels fall off. At that point I install Ubuntu the stretch it out for a few more months while I'm buying the next one.

My biggest issue with Linux is that it's incredibly difficult to get drivers for DJ controllers. Especially controllers that are custom built for a particular kind of software.

You ain’t never lied about those drivers.

I had a ridiculous issue occur recently.

Not long after I built my new PC, I installed Linux Mint 20. Everything seems like it’s good and I’m doing all the stuff I need to do so far. Then the computer would just freeze randomly without warning. I had to do hard shutdowns to get it working again. I’m working with the intel i9 processor, so all my bios and everything is updated. After researching into the abyss of google results, I came across this forum. Told me to change some line in a configuration file that I don’t remember where it’s located. I would have never found it unless told to go there. After that, I had to sacrifice 3 goats and chant the spiritual hymns to the ancient dark lord.

Since then, the computer hasn’t frozen. Runs like a champ. All that to not have to pay for some shit. :smh:

Windows lost a lot of people when they dropped 8.

Im still running windows 7. Doing everything I need it to do with no issues. I won’t upgrade until I decide to get another laptop.
As someone who manages desktops for an entire city, I find this HILARIOUS...

That's the whole point, to keep their market share by making things difficult for customers to leave that iPhone ecosystem.

lol, how so?

There's a guy in the place that I work for thats pretty high up, and he insisted that he keep his Windows 7 pc for whatever reason [before I got there]....said PC got infected with ransomware and part of the network was affected. No biggie as the files were restored.....
