Anyone claiming GSP whipped Diaz's ass last night is bullshittin' themselves. Once again, GSP got his face more busted up than an opponent he rode for 5 rounds without doing ANY significant damage too. On the feet, Diaz broke his nose with a fuckin jab! :eek: Yes, he clearly won the fight on points, but it was ugly and boring. The two prior undercards stole the show. UFC needs to stop this pro wrestling shit and go back to matching up fighters who can actually put on competitive fights for the title. :smh:

No, he didn't. I am so sick and tired (as MANY MMA fans have become slowly) of the takedown being the start all-end all, which is why they started breaking the fighters up and standing them up when nothing is happening (the Gracies are staunchly against this).

Yes, a takedown should count (it favors American wrestlers).

But what about elbows, punches, submission attempts, stuffs and scramble? Does that NOT count for something? Apparently so.

And this is why MMA has been waning in PPV sales and ratings as well. I hope this trend changes as I will always be a fan of MMA not just the takedown part.

Takedowns are not the problem..the problem is people winning on ground control and are not making an attempt to do serious damage and finish. Ground with no real pound. In a fight you should always be either truly setting your opponent up for a finish or attempting for the finish after the setup worked.

I don't think anyone has accused GSP of whipping an ass in a long time. Even when he battered Kos' eye it wasn't a real ass whippin.

both are very good working off the bottom but they seem to quit/give up when they are grappling superior/stronger wrestler. Is it a function of them quit or getting dominated by cats like GSP & Henderson.

it just looks bad

the matt siera ruined GSP. He got KOd by a lesser fight and hasnt been the same sense. He ridiculously conserative and relies on wrestling more than any fighter I've seen.

it dude wasnt super popular and wrestled outside of Canada he would get booed outta buildings.

It's mentally checking out...that's what they both do, you may not know what I mean by that unless you actually have known dudes that conduct themselves like they are high even when they are not. They are like rain man. They are genius at fighting but somehow socially retarded ( and I mean that as a fact and not an insult) and they can just lose it mentally at any time, even during a fight. I have known a few like that.

It has been for Condit, especially in this fight.

He was able to scramble to his feet. He was able to inflcit damage from the bottom (as he did with GSP), but he STILL lost. Why? The takedowns, of course.

I meant takedowns are not the problem that's turning people off from MMA..it's the takedowns without the real damage. But takedowns are the problem with scoring for many guys. Shit Sonnen was gonna win on takedowns even though his face was a trainwreck and Silva was fresh faced enough to go to the club right after.
