►►► OFFICIAL UFC 154 - GSP / CONDIT - November 17th, 2012 - Montreal

GSP has ducked Spider multiple times and he will do it again and again with no consequences. I would be shocked if he fights him.

Huh?

It's not as if GSP is calling other fighters at that weight. He never has. This is a fan-clamoring fight.

Some might say Silva is ducking Jon Jones.

Different weight and not 5 lbs. either.

At one point GSP was watching Spider's fights at ringside in anticipation of it. He later on started ducking the questions about fighting him. Dana White just keeps trying like an asshole. I personally don't wanna see the fight.

Once Jake shields gave GSP such a hard time with stand up. That was the nail in the coffin for the Silva vs GSP fight. He needed to "rethink his career".:lol::lol:

And silva is not ducking Jon Jones.

But after that Silvas a BEAST on his back so taking him down in tha end means nothing.
This. Also, Silva's take down defense is underrated, mostly because of his first Sonnen fight--when he was injured and Sonnen was juiced up. The second fight, he stuffed all the take down attempts except the one in the first, but he took zero damage in the first. GSP looks like he got his head caught in a wood chipper tonight and that's with him on top. He doesn't want any part of Silva's elbows or that triangle from the bottom. :smh:

If Silva's ducking Jones Jones is ducking Silva, too, because they both said they didn't want to fight each other.
Is Jones ducking JDS? :dunno: "Ducking" is one of the most misused terms among fight fans today.

"Some" might say Jones is ducking Junior Dos Santos.

I think jones might want to milk the light heavy thing for a while. I am not sure if he is ready for heavyweight. But who knows... sure would be easier to move up there than step in the ring with a man possessed by an evil fighting spirit.

honestly you aint ducking anyone unless they come into your weightclass and earn a #1 contender title

anyone of the champs that you could argue is ducking someone is Silva cause he has fought at 205 a few times

Other than chasing fighters out of 185 to 205.. how has anderson earned a title shot at 205 with a total of 3 fights over many years. It is clear his reasoning for not wanting to be at 205 is because his friend is in contention for that belt.

great fight...GSP almost took an L....

GSP wrestling is just too good I don't see Diaz beating him either...when GSP wants a take down you are going down :smh::lol:

i was playing devil's advocate
an arguement could be made that the most logical fight would be Silva vs Jones since Silve fights regularly at 205.

GSP has never fought outside of 170
Jones has always been a light heavyweight
and Silve has gone up not down since he been in the UFC

Who?
Why?

How many wins has Jones had at HW?

Silva has wins at a higher weight. That's NOT potential. That's fact.

Jones has yet to KO a HW contender or fighter for that matter.
Jones has wiped out his division and walks around heavy enough to fight heavyweight. Look at who Silva beat at LHW: Griffith, Bonnar and Irving. :hmm: Silva has yet to KO a LHW who was anywhere near a contender. That, too, is a fact.

Jones hasn't cleared most contenders in his division like GSP or Silva to even think about the HW right now

Jones is in his mid-20s. He has many years to go in the sport and I hope we see him dominate people for awhile. Love him or not, he's a legit talent and easily one of the best ever (already)

GSP is in his early-30s now. He turned 31 in May, and made his pro debut against Ivan Menjivar 10 years ago in 2002. Funnily enough - Menjivar fought tonight. More impressively - 10 years later and he's at 135lbs and a more appropriate weight class. I added that fight of theirs on PAGE 1 of this thread, so watch that shit if you'd like. It's a good quick scrap.

Anderson is the P4P king having owned his weight class for years ... gone up and embarassed guys a division above (from 185 to 205) ... walks around himself in the 200 - 220 range ... and has made highlight reel clips of many of his opponents. He turned 37 in mid-May and may very well have a few major fights left in him.

General verdict is the fans & UFC want to see either GSP-SILVA or SILVA-JONES. Georges and Anderson will probably be the more likely of the 2 (stadium show) with Jones making the move to heavyweight later in his career. Keep in mind Anderson's 12 years older than him, and Georges has a few years left (at a division 35lbs lighter than Bones).

Hopefully we get a superfight in any of these places ...

- TORONTO
- DALLAS
- BRAZIL
- MONTREAL

... per all the speculation & armchair quarterbacking.

WTF??

Hold on ...

WTF??

You do know Griffin beat Rampage for, oh i don't knoww the UFC LHW championship right??? Oviously not. C'mon m,an, I expect better from you.

The only significant LHV fighter in his division he hasn't fought/beat yet is Alexander Gustafsson.

Henderson? :dunno: ...they have other contenders on the way...like Texira (sp?) & Gus...IMO LHW is a much more difficult division than MW & WW

they have much more talented fighters at LHW than MW & WW

Do you mean GSP-SILVA or SILVA-JONES?

Thanks, man. Corrected my reply a few back ^ - so much hype from the fans and UFC brass. The fighters themselves don't necessarily want it (given it may affect their own individual legacies). As Georges noted this week ... he would have to size things up ... what makes sense for him ... as it's clearly something that's good for FANS & THE UFC ... but not necessarily Anderson & him.

Griffin is very overrated but a fan fav.... I'm surprise homie still gets decent fights :smh:

he will never come close to that belt again...he doesn't have the skills to hang with the top of division anymore

Silva made him look like a amateur that fight was embarrassing

honestly he (Silva) hasn't beat anybody at LHW

Griffin should have never gotten tha belt in tha 1st place.Out of all UFC title fights tha belt has never changed hands unless tha challenger clearly kicked tha champs ass.Thats why Shogun went ham on Machida tha second fight because tha judges were not gonna give him tha belt tha 1st go round cause he didn't decisively beat Machida.

Rampages head wasn't in tha fight and Griffin did nothing to show he was tha superior fighter nor did he cause any major damage.Rampage just got fucked over thats why he been acting a dick towards tha UFC cause he knows he got robbed.

Neither did Buster Douglas. But that didn't change the fact that he won the championship.

Guys, POTENTIAL is one thing. FACT is another. Let's not confuse the two.

I dont care to see Anderson fight GSP or Jon Jones. But if he does fight one or the other, Jones would be the most interesting fight. As much as I love Silva, I would have to lean towards Jones.

GSP has little chance with Silva, and could not survive an exchange with him. He would have to be on top 98% of the fight.

Shiii now that I think about it, GSP might be in deep trouble with Hendricks...

Brother H-Funk, props for holding down the MMA threads. Maybe one day we catch a UFC fight in Canada, live, then get some girls.

peace

Sure thing, brother. It's been a fun journey with the MMA and boxing content. Your IN CASE YOU MISSED IT thread we've worked on is 6+ years old now as of August ... and we started that joint back in the UFC 60s or so ... so nearly 100 PPVs later & countless other cards on tv as well (Spike/Sportsnet/Versus/Fuel/FX/Fox) :D:lol: - many more cards/events to go, and we'll keep IN CASE YOU MISSED IT going strong as well ...
