For real. As an MMA fan, I am really upset by this bullshit. This was a terrible PPV.

I was thinking the same thing. These kind of side-show fights will do nothing but hurt the sport. James Toney supposedly earned atleast $750K for this fight...this was the worst investment that Dana White ever made.

It definitely hurt the sport to me. How did this fight get fucking sanctioned? They wouldn't even let Bobby Lashley fight a newbie to MMA, how did Randy Couture fight one?

The thing about fighting within the rules of either boxing or MMA.... When a boxer comes to MMA, they can bring all the weapons they have to use, and with lighter gloves to boot.

However, if you wanted an MMA fighter to fight a boxing match with boxing rules, you'd be saying "ok, boxer, you can use all your weapons, but MMA guy, you can't use 75% of your weapons.

As for this show, I'm sure COuture will win, but I bet on Toney. Odds was too nice. Not only did I bet on Toney straight up, but I put him in a small $50 parlay bet with Gabe Rudiger that will net me over a G if they both win. So I'm cheering for Toney plus Randy irks me.

As for the rest of the card: Florian is too nice with everything. Nobody in the division has anything for him...except BJ. He would kill Frankie Edgar.

BJ looked serious at the weighins. I still think BJ won the last fight. He'll win this one.

Nate Diaz will win against Marcus. Marcus has problems against fighters with reach as Ben Saunders beat the piss out of him last time and Diaz has a similar reach.

BOSTON – Joe Lauzon, Nate Diaz and Marcus Davis earned $60,000 fight-night bonuses for their performances at Saturday's UFC 118 event.

Lauzon picked up the "Submission of the Night" bonus, and Diaz and Davis earned "Fight of the Night" honors. The usual "Knockout of the Night" bonus wasn't awarded since the the event featured no KO victories.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the award winners and bonus amounts while at the post-UFC 118 press conference.

UFC 118 took place at Boston's TD Garden. After Spike TV broadcast a two-fight preliminary card, the night's main card aired on pay-per-view.

Lauzon earned his award after launching a relentless attack on "The Ultimate Fighter 5" castmate Gabe Ruediger. In the featured bout of the night's "UFC Prelims" broadcast on Spike TV, Lauzon launched dozens of blows before taking the fight to the mat and forcing a quick first-round stoppage via armbar.

Ruediger, who posted a six-fight win streak in outside organizations to earn his way back into the UFC, appeared overwhelmed from the opening bell.

Diaz vs. Davis, meanwhile, provided one of the night's more competitive bouts. But after a first close round in which Davis landed some decent left-handed punches, Diaz continued attacking his opponent's deep eyelid gash. The wound continually bothered Davis throughout the fight and was a noticeable hematoma by the third round. With his eye swollen shut and covered in blood, Davis was smothered in the third round with Diaz's dominant ground game and went unconscious from a guillotine choke at the 4:02 mark.





BOSTON – UFC 118 drew 15,575 attendees for a solid $3 million gate, UFC president Dana White announced in the night's post-fight press conference.

The event, which took place Saturday, was hosted by Boston's TD Garden and marked the UFC's debut in the state of Massachusetts.

Official figures will be made available in the coming weeks, but it the preliminary numbers hold up, UFC 118 scored the fifth highest attendance of the UFC's 15 events this year.

The gate total ranks just seventh in 2010 and trails every show from UFC 111 to UFC 116, which all topped the $3 million benchmark.
