Remember Ghana beating the Czech Republic last time? Winning the World Cup is the ultimate prize for a team. But seeing a so called 'superior' side taken down by a minnow is what makes the tournament so compelling

Ghana will give Germany a tough game and could draw with them, beat Serbia and could get into the next round. But Australia could spoil the party

yeah but the coach better using the right formation instead of that bullshit yesterday:smh:
I already know Ghana ain't doing shit, so is the US so I'll just enjoy the tournament.
who says ghana aint doing shit

hilarious, Drogba is my dude but I couldn't resist

to be fair, he did get a boot in the chest...

I was going to post that as well, but like you said he at least drew contact:

They struggled to qualify, having to beat Costa Rica to advance to the World Cup(and not in convincing fashion). They also lost to Argentina in their home stadium for the first time since the 70s I believe. I think they won their last World Cup in 1950 where they famously beat Brazil in front of close to 200,000 fans in the Maracanã stadium.

Maybe Forlan can change that for them, because he has a knack for scoring goals. Suarez might do some damage as well considering he scored 35 goals for Ajax in the Netherlands.

Re: >>> OFFICIAL WORLD CUP THREAD <<< ...Discuss....

Donovan is still a bitch in my eyes. He only went on loan because an old, washed up Beckham was getting more juice than him and shining on him by being on loan at a serious (well at least traditionally serious) club in Milan. Correct me if im wrong, but didnt Donovan get run out of Bayern? Dempsey is cool with me because he was willing to actually try and establish himself in a big time league. He could have been a "star" in the MLS but instead went somewhere were he would be forced to make a name.

He went on loan because he is cac. There thousands of far more talented players in Brazil who will never be invited to play in the EPL and yet you have Americans walking in like it is a public toilet. The English are playing that bullshit Zola Bud favouritism crap...

Where was Ghana playing yesterday? Are you sure you are not talking about Cameroon?

those players in that pic always disappoint

Interesting that you mention this. A guy who works at my bank is from Ivory Coast. I brought up the subject of the Elephants, but he admonished me to quell my euphoria, pointing that previous hope placed in the team had usually been dashed by their disappointing performance... It is sad but true that each of the African teams that made noise in the World Cup was led by an inspired young European coach who was on a mission to make a name for himself. Westerhof was the man for Nigeria in 1994 who gave us Amokachi, Yekini and co, the Serb gave us Essien and Appiah in 2006, I do not remember who gave us Poupa Diop in 2002 for Senegal.... Of course Roger Milla was the coach on the field who performed Miracles for Cameroon in 1990

Who cares when Brazil's best players never played in the EPL? They don't need the EPL. That league isn't the end all be all.

Look how many great players never went there(including non-Brazilians):

Zidane
Ronaldo
Romario
Rivaldo
Ronaldinho
Maradona
Batistuta
Eto'o
Roger Milla
Hugo Sanchez
Roberto Carlos
Van Basten

it goes on and on...

Nzinga, I would have credited you with more intelligence. Of course there are more talented players in South America

The physical style of the premiership is sometimes not suited to their tempo and many of them actually prefer to choose Portugal and Spain over England because they do not face many cultural differences eg language

And then there's the weather!

In addition to that there are stringent rules which dictate bringing players in from outside the EU if they are not conistently representing their international teams

Donovan is a seasoned international and that was a good financial move by Everton

Come on man not everything is duplicitous. Not every US player is awful and not every South American player is Messi

Some adapt and play well whereas others....

This is an old ass team practically the same team that got sonned in the Confederation Cup they might grind out some wins but they left out alot of the creative players cassano, rossina, rossi, totti etc. Half this team will retire after the cup, the next coach is gonna have to rebuild from scratch

Im watching Brazil play zimbabwe and they are being exposed by fast zimbabwe players:smh::smh:

I woulda thought dunga had fixed the holes in his midfield, nigga aint do shit

Im thinking the same thing...Its still tied up at zero, but this is borderline embarrassing the way they are just running past brazil defense.

Yeah..Italy is completely done after this cup..

On paper they are the best European team, in reality, they will fall in the quarterfinals as usual. My money is on France because of all the Africans on their team, The Nazis because they know how to play who, the Mafia because they somehow must be cheating even if we do not it, and Brazil just because they believe they are better. Ivory Coast, if their mind is in the right place, can make noise...but with African teams, you first have to see where their heads are. Ghana is the defending under 20 Champion, they have pride and they may say something for themselves yet.

Re: >>> OFFICIAL WORLD CUP THREAD <<< ...Discuss....

There are many seasonend internationals who will never play in the EPFL. The EPFL is one of the best paying leagues; it is the one league every professional in the world would like to play in. So please, do not tell me that the many many many much more talented Brazilians, who are languishing in such Leagues as the Sao Paolo tournament for what is a pittance by English pay standards, prefer to play in there than in Egland. As for the language, most players in Europe play in countries where the language spoken is foreign to them. There are bunch of Brazilians playing in Russia, Germany, Holland, Belgium, who would love to play in the EPFL, but are not given a chance. The English are arrogant and racist, and my niece, a die hard fan who is an English citizen, tells me all the time, how the English think the black foreigners on teams like Chelsea and Asernal have destroyed English football. The Americans who play in England, would never be signed in Spain or Italy. Their talent simply insn't up to par...but they get the royal welcome in England, courtesy of that special relation.

As for the economics, Donovan who was making 1000 000 a year in MLS was not more economical than a much more talented than a Brazilian who is making 50 000 in the Rio Tournament. Furthermore, it is condescending and wrong to claim that Brazilians are less adaptable to changes in tempo and physicalness of a particular league. Brazilians play this game from the earliest age, the can play it in any way or fashion. An American play has no advantage of any kind over an African, much less a Brazilian. Sorry.

They are godly on paper messi, millito, tevez, aguero, higuan, Mascherano etc but their manager is a clown, great players usually make shitty coaches he's no different he damn near fucked up their qualification and some of his call ups are questionable this nigga called up Veron and dropped cambiasso and riquelme :smh: if Argentina fails it will most likely be Diego's fault

I'm not knowledgeable about soccer....can someone explain why African teams can never compete? is it just economic resources?
