Sports Biz: Qatar bans alcohol at World Cup stadiums in late reversal Update: FIFA boss makes horrible speech

:roflmao3: You can't be serious right now.

So you they don't have the money to do that now?!!! They need the money from the WC to build up that region?!!! Gimme a break!!

All the money will go to the top 1% of those in charge in the country and the poor will still struggle.
:hithead:

Wow

I wrote a whole bunch of shit to school you but deleted it all cause you clearly can't interpret what you read and are also supremely ignorant about Qatar if you think there is even one poor Qatari citizen living on that little peninsula. Also, no country ever makes money from hosting these types of games, WC, Olympics you name it. Good luck to you. Damn you are slow my guy.

Again, geopolitics. Qatar is stunting like a motherfucker:dance:

Nope, I'm not pro this shit, but it's the reality of the power dynamic, just like Black people have to eat shit and grin when it comes to being pushed around and abused from literally every other cultural and ethnic group in the world that has a nation state, including African nations.

I w
Sadio Mane engineering leg injuries to avoid going
giphy.webp
I was thinking the same thing...

Your little grade school girl insults don't bother me.

I get how this shit works. You are blissfully naïve if you think people don't make money of these types of events.

Anyway.... Carry on.... BTW.. I didn't delete shit!

Bro to be honest, I'm saddened by your lack of critical thinking skills, I don't enter this engagement with any glee at all. The way you operate is endemic and you aren't the onlybone who suffers from these types of mental feedback loops. You are still lost because you're so focused on trying to land your talking point that you manufactured an argument that I actually made the opposite claim to. That's very disturbing.

Yeah, sure I made the point that Qatar would need to buy energy from Europe to heat their homes throughout the brutal winters that they endure. That makes perfect sense.

Again, :hithead: .

You're a weird dude.

Carry on....

It might be too late now, but this is a great opportunity for Qatar's equally shitty rival Saudi Arabia to step in and buy the World Cup up from under Qatar and allow alcohol to be sold. Pull the rug out from under them.

Yeah dickhead, but you didn't say that.

Fuckin' clown :smh:
I don't think you do though. They won't be complaining about having heat this winter in their homes. That also means running water and a whole host of modern conveniences as well as absolute necessities that, when you start to consider the ramifications of, color the situation entirely differently. I hate the world's dependence on fossil fuels but objectively speaking the Qatari's are getting a deal worse than Elon Musk's Twitter acquisition. Without Qatar Russia would be conquering Europe right now
You are seriously brain dead

I know you're exagerating to make a point but Russia is struggling to conquer Ukraine by itself. I doubt they'd have conquered Europe if not for Qatar.

I mean yes if we're talking physical occupation but no if we are referring to the economic subjugation that would effectually take place. Nordstrom/Crimea etc. is a real problem for the Europeans.

I assume you mean "Nord Stream" the pipeline not "Nordstrom" the clothing store. Even so, there are other countries Europe can buy oil from including Qatar's rival Saudi Arabia.

yeah that was the auto fill I'm driving rn. I don't think that the solution is as simple as just "buy from the Saudis instead."

Let's face it -- everything is being simplified on this thread. You think the World Cup is only about Europe's dependence on Qatari oil? Sure that plays a role but there's more to it. I think they're trying to send a message to Saudi Arabia.

That's the real issue, all of history is connected and leads us to the point at which we find the state of things. You can't compartmentalize the historical legacies, most especially the toxic legacies of European colonial and cultural global infection, and expect to come to a balanced understanding of the root issues.

In as much there will always be paradoxially opposing and valid arguments for many sides of these conflicts as well as the fact that those that suffer the most tend to be the historically least affluent and furthest from the reigns of power.

Agreed, particularly about the last part. Keeping all of that in mind, I try to be objective as possible when analyzing geopolitical activities.

The world is a very different place than it was even 50 years ago much less during the height of European colonization. And while It is true Europeans, specifically a few Western European nations, have caused much misery globally, they're not the only bad actors on the global stage in 21st Century.

Personally, I smile when any world power, because they all have blood on their hands, takes an L.

A
How does Qatar have so many clearly african players on their squad? That is some bizarre shit.
A lot of nations will recruit athletes from other countries. They give them citizenship and pay them a salary. It happens a lot in Olympic sports.

They think all those soccer fans aren’t going to find a way to get drunk or sneak alcohol on their bodies into those stadiums. Shit I’ve seen people do it at the Kentucky Derby, not because it was banned they just didn’t want to pay the high prices for watered down mixed drinks.
In the middle east??? Not saying you couldn't get away with it. But is it really worth the risk???

this world cup going to be interesting

Harry Kane said he will wear a "OneLove" armband despite the threat of a fine and a yellow card at kickoff as a battle escalates between FIFA and various European Football Associations.

Nine nations including Germany, Netherlands and Belgium agreed in September to wear the armband as a symbol of diversity, inclusion and antidiscrimination amid concerns over World Cup hosts Qatar's human rights record.

its going to be interesting embracing western values like freedom (including getting drunk), diversity and human rights at a place like Qatar
seems like FIFA really isnt taking the lead or making calls...seems like they are just winging it...surprise, surprise
