How has the Coronavirus impacted you directly, to this point?

Thanks for sharing.

From my limited first hand observations, it seems to me that black communities are not taking the proper precautions. Poorer communities, specifically.

12/14 being under 50 is surprising and sad.
with the younger folks yes they are fucking hard headed and i mean they will huff and puff when some store clerks tell them they cant
enter without a mask i mean its even worst with these lil bitches and be having the nerve to be dragging the're kids with them with no
facial protection..the whole thang my mans has done gone wrong,,, everything....its just a complete mess just keep your mask on and social
distant....

to keep it 100 its been great... and I mean that as no disrespect to anyone that has lost people. I can't even imagine how completely and utterly infuriating it would be to loose a loved one with this buffoon in office. Any president or administration would have struggled with this but you couldn't possibly pick a more incompetent idiot to "be in charge"...that said...I was in some bad credit card card debt, like alot of people, and I used the cares act to take enough bread out my 401k to pay that off. Idk I'm 43 and have what 25 plus years to make it up, if I make it that long lol. Live good now vs money for when I'm 70...And I'm not dumb I know you will need money when 70..Man will I even make it to 70?? Or should me and my fam benefit now with that bread with no penalty... Wasn't even a question really. At 70 or 67 whatever age it is why would I need more money than I need now? House should be paid off, kids grown...Idk man they throwing money around out here. Saved myself about 700 a month. I know some people that have passed, none close like that but I knew they names and who they was. I think we opening to soon. Stay safe out here

Just got sent home from work. Coworker I worked with got sick and tested positive. Sent us straight to get tested. We probably shouldn't have even come in. Cant came back until I get my results.

On Sunday, Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered that bars in seven California counties close bars and nightspots as cases surge in the state. These counties include Los Angeles, Fresno, Kern, San Joaquin, Tulare, Kings and Imperial.
He also recommended that eight other counties in California to take action on their own to close bars. These counties include Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Sacramento, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara and Stanislaus.
COVID-19 is still circulating in California, and in some parts of the state, growing stronger,” Newsom said in a statement given to media. “That’s why it is critical we take this step to limit the spread of the virus in the counties that are seeing the biggest increases.” Newsom also tweeted out the news on Sunday.

This news comes after California passed of 200,461 coronavirus cases on June 26. The state saw a 2.5 percent rise in new cases over the previous day’s total. As a result, Newsom asked officials in Imperial County, near San Diego, to increase COVID-preventative restrictions.

Only have had contact with 4 human beings since march, quarantined in my SF Loft this whole time and haven't seen my girl this whole time

Talked with an oncall worker a week back or so. She's been with us for about 2 years, and typically does a good amount of coverage. She hasn't worked with us since approx' Feb'. She was focusing her time on doing some training for another job (diff' organization - same field). Turns out she and her roommate both got covid. His battle was more serious and he ended up being hospitalized. He also works at the hospital. Whereas she was able to quarantine at home with less severe a condition. Both are feeling better now in the months since. Each in their mid- to late-20s. Thankfully she wasn't asymptomatic and around our workplace (having been gone from late-Feb' to late-June). So we hadn't had any contact with her in just over 4 months.

Another coworker's husband fell ill. Back in March or early-April. He works away from home & hadn't been home in a few weeks, and was able to quarantine away from the home further. He's mid-40s and her early-50s. They don't have kids, but have had international students living with them for 10+ years. Really glad for them that things didn't progress quickly with several people falling ill - given all the travel restrictions, etc. Haven't seen her (coworker) in awhile. Need to check in with her.

Mom's common-law boyfriend has been over in Alberta recently. Helping his mom relocate and move to his city. She turned 100yo last year and is in reasonably good health, all things considered. She'd been planning to move for some years, and had been feeling down/depressed in recent months given the pandemic. He was like - "Let's make the move ... no one's getting any younger" and they did so yesterday. Happy for them. She's now living 15 mins from her 3 kids, and some other relatives. People can keep an eye out for her. Ensure that she's keeping well. I'm hoping to meet her later this year or early-2021. 100yo still with her quick wit. Fortunately she wasn't a hoarder, and didn't collect much over the many decades. Just had the essentials to bring along & he was able to contact a handful of organizations over there to donate furniture, appliances, etc. Her old home is for sale now.

Yeah she lives in LA at her rich aunt and uncle's big house, during non covid times I live between SF, LA and NYC since I have rent controlled lofts in SF and NYC from way back where rent is under $1k/month each and when in LA I just live at her Aunt and Uncle's house with her so I always have to explain to ppl that I live between 3 of the most expensive cities without being near a multi millionaire myself that most think I would have to be etc. But yeah they're good, this quarantine life just been hard for me to stay in 1 same place for so long, especially since this SF loft I'm quarantined in is not much space at all although I'm grateful to have it at such a low price. I just been ordering food and consuming content everyday since March, and only have had minimal contact with 4 ppl that I know that have also been on strict quarantine. I haven't seen any of my friends that I know been moving all nonchalant and shit during this time

Staying safe and smart. Good approach. Everything healthy with her & her family too?

Well played, man. Smart. Like you said - keep your distance from those who have been moving around without concern the past 3 - 4 months.

Talking to my mom in recent months, she said the only contact she's had with friends is from a safe distance (i.e. - in a yard, or from a front lawn to someone's door). She's weary with her core friend group being 67 - 80yo, and many with underlying conditions. Asked her how she's kept busy in recent months, and she joked it's that endless cycle of watching tv & movies, reading, doing some stuff in the garden, working on a puzzle, listening to music or podcast, working out, some Zoom chats. Rinse, repeat. Rinse, repeat. She said last week - "yeah, I think I'm going a bit stir-crazy ... what day is it?"

:giggle:

Yeah I knew back in march i'd have to be on strict quarantine probably for the rest of 2020 cause I knew this administration wouldn't be able to contain this virus like a lot of other countries have. Yeah I'm glad my parents have taken it seriously as well, I know its countless amount of americans that have gone a bit stir crazy including myself tho. That's why sometimes i do think maybe I should've just driven down to LA back in March and quarantined with my girl and her aunt and uncle and I'd at least be in a big ass house with tons of amenities. Instead i've been in my small loft this whole time where I don't even have a TV lol, been watching all these shows, movies, Youtube etc. on my old IMac which i only use b/c its a bigger screen than my laptop

Nice ... that's like my mom's old set-up with the IMac. She had a 24 or 27" screen and used it all-purpose for a number of years. She's mostly Ipad and Iphone now. Got a 40" set. Good point about LA back in March. These past 4 months have definitely been a challenge the world over. Thankfully technology helps out given how spread out families & friends are. Plus social media, when used effectively, to help share information & resources from all corners of the globe. I was saying to my dad the other day how helpful the digital age would have been for so many natural disasters, attacks & viruses over the decades.

It's a very good move! The interest you were paying on those debts will be far higher than what you would make on your 401k

Friend of mine has had it since June 15... still has pneumonia like symptoms, lost 30lbs, but is slowly able to get up and move around again.

What's crazy is I just missed hanging out with him.

He ties getting covid 19 back to his brother, who is a driver for UPS. They hung out Friday June 12... got drunk, high, all of that...

Saturday June 13th was a drift car racing event up in New Caney (20 minutes north of Houston) that I went to. He was supposed to meet me there, him and his daughter. He overslept and couldn't make it. He then called and asked was I going back on Sunday since it was a 2 day event. Offered to pick me up since I live right off the highway that goes up to New Caney. I had already made plans so I wasn't going back Sunday...

Dodged a bullet

"Broadway actor Nick Cordero dies at 41 after months of COVID-19 complications" https://twitter.com/i/events/1279953840129732611

Isn't this the guy that lost a limb and had all sorts of issues battling this illness? I don't wish death upon anyone but his living situation was looking so dire based on everything I'd heard about him. And I think he was a newlywed too or had a young wife or something. Gosh...R.I.P.

I've been working from home since March along with my husband. Toddler has been with us too. My family, who has been safely quarantining in NOLA, is visiting with me now. Been here almost 2 weeks, and we're all healthy, including my 76 year old mother (praise God.) I'm happy for family visiting because it's broken up the monotony of my days/weeks. Tough not really having time for myself or for just hubby and I, but we're making the best of it. We're supposed to be trying for another baby this month, but I'm worried with everything going on.

Dammit man :smh:

Flipping thru IG stories and a chic I follow that went to Lake Charles casinos for the holiday just posted a pic of a thermometer with a reading of 101.7 and right now another of her in line to get tested...

People really not taking this shit serious enough here

Yep

Yep. He was in the hospital for 90 days with all type of complications. Had he lived he would of required a double lung transplant

White boy at work was supposed to be home on self quarantine.

Instead, he went out. Partying. Drinking. Having fun.

Now he becomes the the 2nd employee at our site to test positive for coronavirus.

Fuck this dumbass state and the assholes in charge. White people get on my fuckin nerves.

contractor came to our site, he was infected
we found out and shutdown and had the place cleaned
coworker who is a germaphobe caught it from her husband, they cleaned her office and had her out for like 3 weeks
closed early today to have the place cleaned again as a safety measure, 2 workers are out sick.

at this point, I think I'm asymptomatic
I've had people over for photoshoots, no one got sick from me, nor did I get sick from them.

my biggest fear was catching it from drive thru's, they wear gloves and touch your card and others as well.
it go from the car in front of you to the cashier and then to you, all from the same gloves

I spent 9 days in the hospital. Suffered kidney failure, have been on dialysis since my April hospital stay. Lost over 60lbs, developed temporary neuropathy in my feet that caused me to need a walker for over a month. Have Covid related pneumonia, lost my sense of taste and smell for over 2 months. Was told to quarantine for 6wks instead on 2. Ended up quarantining from April until the last week of June when I took my fifth Covid test, it was negative. Wife had to take over everything. Luckily I had pretty much everything on autopay up to date or paid in advance and we were not hurting. Thank GOD because it took 6wks to get thru to unemployment. I now suffer from an unknown back ailment that none of the doctors can figure out and the pain spreads to my legs and makes it hard to walk. In addition, I sometimes burst into a ridiculous sweat when I am not hot and I can barely feel air conditioning.
All the doctors that treated me, came to see me my last day in the hospital and they all told me they had expected me to die. My nephrologist asked if they could publish the findings from my kidney biopsy because apparently I was the first or one of the first patients to suffer kidney failure and then have his kidneys produce blood clots, and then have my own body attack my kidneys.
I had a falling out with family because certain ones are staunch Trump supporters (and we are all black) and told me I wasn't sick, and that they hope I enjoy my eternal damnation in Hell for allowing a Democrat to hypnotize me into believing I am actually sick.
My PCP says I might be able to return to work in October

Damn bro, but glad you're doing better. Hell of a story, glad you're still with us.

Keep Wet Wipes and hand sanitizer in your car.

And I doubt the chance of transmission that way is very high.

that’s what I do. Two bottles. One is 70% one is 90% alcohol. And gel sanitizer. I spray until it’s saturated. Had my brother run up to me with no mask I spritzed his ass right in his face As he backpedaling screaming and told him stop fucking around man!
