Xbox One Console Reviews

Everything we know about the next Xbox Elite Controller 'V2'

elite-controller-buttons-close.jpg

Leaked via Chinese site Baidu and later confirmed by The Verge, the new Xbox Elite Controller looks to be an iterative update on the original controller, which came with a range of premium features (and at a premium $150 price point).

The original Xbox Elite Controller supported Xbox Wireless, but only supported USB for PC connectivity. It sported two separate profiles for configurable button mapping, as well as locks for the triggers, making them activate more quickly. It also came with four additional buttons on the reverse of the controller in the form of paddles, which could be configured and removed at will. Additionally, the joysticks on the original Elite controller came with extra options, both from first and third-party vendors. Longer joystick options increased the distance from the pivot, for example, allowing for more precision without sacrificing turn speed. The directional pad also came with more robust options too.

The new Xbox Elite Controller seems to be a little more of an "evolution" rather than revolution at this point, but from what we're hearing from our own sources as well as those posted on various forums, it looks set to improve on the original controller in every way.

It appears that the codename for the new Elite controller appears to be "Spider," according to our sources, perhaps in reference to the elongated paddles on the reverse side looking almost like spider legs.

The rumored feature set for the updated controller includes a three-stage hair trigger lock. This means that you will be able to adjust the amount of trigger depression far more than previously, which only supported a single on/off stage. When the triggers are locked, it means activation is much faster, which can be advantageous when using handguns and burst rifles in games.

Another feature rumored to be on the way to the new Elite controller is tension control for the joysticks. Microsoft filed a patent specifically to allow users to control the tension of joystick movement previously (via The Verge), the pictures leaked via Baidu appear to confirm that feature. Supposedly, this will allow users to control the amount of resistence you experience when you push the sticks. The original Elite Controller was criticized as being a little too resistive vs. the regular controllers in some circumstances.

Some other rumored features include an additional configuration profile, making for a total of three. USB Type-C connectivity, longer key travel for the reverse paddles, and, according to the leaked image above, revised rubber grips.

Bluetooth, charge dock?
According to our sources and the original leak, Bluetooth support is in for connectivity to PCs, which is also a given. The most recent versions of the regular Xbox controller support Bluetooth, so that's a bit of a no-brainer. However, more interestingly, it seems that the new Elite controller has built-in batteries too, and a unique charging port on the reverse of the device, which has been described as "MagSafe-like" by the original information.

Our sources indicate that the new Elite Controller might, in-fact, have some sort of propietary charge dock, perhaps for display and fast-charging functionality. The "docking" mechanism might simply be a propietary cable, but since the controller supports USB Type-C, it seems unlikely that Microsoft would introduce two separate cable charge methods, a full dock seems more likely.

The LED lights on the front of the controller might be specifically to show off battery life levels when the controller is docked, or in-use on PC, where battery life levels aren't as easy to see as they are on Xbox One.

Other secrets

It's entirely likely the next Elite Controller has other secrets up its sleeve. Maybe it will support the Xbox Design Lab for customization, complete with customization for the docks, similarly to the high-quality multi-color solutions offered by Controller Gear. Perhaps the front-facing LEDs have other functions beyond battery life, showing the signal strength and active config profiles.

Microsoft also previously filed patents for fully customizable and removable triggers, so that could make an appearance too.

Either way, it seems that the new Xbox Elite Controller is almost ready for the prime time, considering it's leaking presumeably via manufacturing sources. Expect it to make an official appearance anywhere between now and the end of 2018.

Patch 2.1 is live!
Hey Survivors, we’ve got another patch coming at you!
Just in time for some Independence Day themed zombie shenanigans tomorrow;)
Patch 2.1 features a variety of bug fixes, including a few related to character positioning on the Community screen.

Patch 2.1 Highlights
  • The “Purchase” DLC button on Main Menu now works properly for players with new profiles who don’t own any DLC.
  • The mission “Builder: Make Your Own Gear” can now be completed if the player has a built-in Machine Shop at their base.
  • Characters on the Community screen now re-orient correctly when changes are made to the community.
  • Newly selected leaders are now positioned correctly on the Community screen.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes newly recruited community members would overlap or be standing too close to others on the Community screen.
  • Characters now properly gain experience in their close combat specialization when fighting with their close combat weapon.
  • Characters who have earned at least 1 star in their Gunslinging specialization are now able to snap-aim with the [ A ] button as expected.
  • The in-game Independence Pack purchase confirmation banner no longer eagerly pops up with every player session.
  • Fixed several missions that occasionally couldn’t be completed due to missing items (such as Lost and Found: Search for the Mace, Eagle Eye: Sniper’s Stash, and the various resource-scavenging Radio Menu missions). These missions should now properly place the necessary items in the world.

July Xbox Update Rolling Out Today

groups.png
E3 may be in our rear view like a fall leaf inForza Horizon 4, but we’ve been busy updating the Xbox experience and adding features that you’ve requested. The July Xbox Update adds features that make finding content even easier and offers a host of improvements to Mixer. Here’s what’s new:
faststart_productux_animation.gif

FastStart Enabled for Select Titles

Announced back at E3 2018, FastStart is a new innovation from our Xbox Platform team that allows you to jump into your games twice as fast and play after downloading just a fraction of it. FastStart works by identifying which files are needed to begin playing and prioritizes the download of those files first, enabling you to quickly jump into full-fidelity gameplay while the remainder of your title downloads in the background. Simply find the FastStart-enabled title you want to play in our catalog, hit ‘Download’ and your console will take care of the rest. It’s that simple. What’s more, it’s now enabled for select English language titles in our Xbox Game Pass catalog, and will expand to more games in more languages over time. You can learn more about FastStarthere.

Group Your Games and Apps

With so much content available, fans have asked for more options to organize libraries of games and apps. Today, we’re introducing a powerful new enhancement to Pins, which we call “Groups.” With Groups, you can create multiple collections of content made up of anything from within My Games & Apps. You can also assign custom names to each Group, organize and order them, and add individual Groups to Home. Groups will appear across My Games & Apps, Home and Guide, so you’ll be able to access your Groups at a moment’s notice. Best of all, Groups are tied to your Xbox Live account, so they will automatically sync across multiple Xbox One consoles. We’ve started you off with a Group that should look very familiar — your Pins!

More Search Options

Searching for content is now even easier! Now pressing the Y button anywhere in the dashboard will bring up the search dialog, allowing you to easily launch your content, sift through Settings, or find products in the Store. This process is found in many apps, but now you can do it anywhere within the dashboard. Not seeing enough results for your search? Hit enter or click the “more results” button to view a full page for your search results.

Mixer Share Controller Improvements

We’ve made it easier to use Share Controller on the web. First, we’ve enabled full mouse and keyboard support for PC users, along with Share ControllerKey Bindings.

Second, we’ve added multi-touch support for touch-enabled devices. This allows multiple controls to be used at the same time! For example, you can control the joystick and press A at the same time on your touch laptop.

And lastly, we’ve added a per-channel leaderboard that spotlights viewers who have contributed to a streamer’s channel the most during a Share Controller session.

Full Screen Broadcasting on Mixer

Mixer streamers can now go full screen with their webcam while broadcasting. You can switch to full screen webcam broadcasting at any time you want. While in this mode game audio is muted, making it perfect for talking to your audience while switching from game to game or setting up before you start playing. You can even do all IRL broadcasts!

For the best experience we recommend using one of these cameras:

  • Microsoft LifeCam Studio
  • Logitech HD Pro Webcam C922
  • Logitech Webcam C930e
  • Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000
Console broadcasting quality and stability improvements

We’ve made a number of changes and fixes to improve overall broadcast video quality. You will now experience improved performance when broadcasting bandwidth-heavy multiplayer.

All of these updates are available because of the Xbox Insiders who have helped shape these features, so big thanks to all of you for your valuable input. If you’d like to help create the future of Xbox and get access to early features, download theXbox Insider Hub appon your Xbox One or Windows 10 PC. You can also visit the Xbox Insider blogherefor the latest release notes and to learn more. Happy gaming!

What is the biggest difference between the one x and the one s?

What is the biggest difference between the one x and the one s?

about $200 cocksucker

sorry that was too easy...‘streets is watching’ reference

*edit*

the major difference is the X can play games in 4k and the S can do so in 1080...if you don’t have a 4k TV or not planning on getting one soon then it don’t make sense to get the X...what country are you moving to if it’s cool to ask?

2K Games has announced that it will publish arcade basketball title NBA Playgrounds 2, which will now be known as NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 to complement the company’s NBA 2K simulation franchise and further expand its footprint in the basketball game space.

They need to make the series more like NBA Jam going forward. I didn't play the last one but the gameplay didn't look appealing.

Lot of celebs hooked on Fortnite..Dave Chappelle,Tiffany Haddish,Adam Sandler and Norman Reedus amongst them

Even William Shatner and Gordon Ramsay into it

game is addictive...I was so opposed to it initially lol...I think I’ve played close to 500 matches between the different modes...I love 50 v 50

I think the NBA should always have an arcade game, either street/playground based or an NBA Jam game..

Sim based basketball is great but nothing like some fun over the top basketball.

But on the other hand, I think about FIFA Street 4, The previous FIFA Street games were over the top, arcade soccer games in the same vein as NBA Street but FIFA Street 4 introduced a realistic street soccer, futsal and indoor soccer simulation, I kinda wish EA would so something like that with basketball.

Yeah EA should take Live the arcade route. I would probably purchase it if they could do like a collaboration between Live & NBA Street. Make it like a broadcast view 3 on 3 with Live graphics but Street styled gameplay.
