Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

I saw clowning leading to getting caught slipping. You see domination. We will leave it at that.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

You should read the whole thing boss.

I saw WINS

When I mentioned domination, I said- ANDERSON did NOT show any signs of domination, not that he was dominated. He was however BEATEN twice.

So with the WINS that Weidman has, I can't say they aren't legit.

And he did win every round they've had, both first rounds by take down.

Anderson has not won a round against Weidman, thats the facts.

First fight, he went down and got beat up a little. Scond round KO.

Second fight, went down and got beat up a little bit, second round checked kick broke his shit.

I don't think it's impossible that Anderson could have done some shit that would've had some effect on Weidman had either one of those fights went further, but as a fan, I have to accept that they didn't go further because of action on Weidmans part.

He did his thing. Anderson is still the best

THIS is the only possibility out there. Bitch needs to drop them 10 lbs. But also, the lady who Rondas fighting next MIGHT be a problem

Miesha Tate took UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to uncharted territory Saturday by extending their shootout into the third round at UFC 168. Unfortunately for Tate, Rousey ultimately bullied her way to another armbar submission victory.

Rousey is clearly the class of the women’s 135-pound division. Outside of being highly skilled, “Rowdy” is simply bigger and stronger than her peers. One lady who could out-muscle her is Invicta FC featherweight champ Cris “Cyborg” Justino, and the buff Brazilian wants a piece.

“Ronda I’m coming to get you!” Justino tweeted Sunday with the above pic.

This is the biggest female fight the UFC could arrange, yet they won’t do it unless Justino sheds the 10 pounds required to compete in the bantamweight division. Justino has claimed her doctor’s say it is medically unsafe for her to fight at 135 pounds.

Justino and manager Tito Ortiz proposed a catchweight bout in the past, but that makes no sense to UFC president Dana White.

Many pundits believe Justino is the only lady alive who could defeat Rousey, and that’s why some suggest the UFC would never arrange the tango – in order to protect their golden girl. The UFC recently added a new women’s division, but they went lighter in weight (115-pound strawweights), instead of bigger to allow Justino into the Octagon.

At this point, it’s on Justino to lose the pounds. Rousey holds all the cards and has no incentive to fight at any weight besides 135 pounds.

Tweet all you want, Cyborg. But the ball’s in your court.

Johny Hendricks cuts 40lbs to fight at welterweight, and he got the chance to fight GSP and got a good payday... So I don't see why Cyborg cannot layoff the steroids and start cutting weight, I've heard her complain that she wasn't making enough money, so here's her chance!!

she needs to leave Tito alone and go get that money.

Rousey can do it, so can she

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

I would love to see Cyborg punch Rouseys face in

Rousey wont overpower Cyborg like she did Tate last night...plus Tate really isnt that great of mixed martial artist

they need to meet at a catchweight since Rousey had a hard time making 135 anyway

This. Despite the results, Tate DID expose holes in Rousey's game.

Even though Tate was scrappy against Zingano, too, Zingano finished her more impressively that Rousey.

the belt is at 135. No sense in fighting someone who would be just jointing the league, and outside of smaller MMA circles has no name for NOTHING.

At this point, Cyborg might need to fight someone else in the UFC in order to EARN the right to fight Rousey. Unless she has a belt in Bellator- which she doesn't at THAT weight.

Everyone knows she has holes, but none of the current crop have what it takes to exploit them- because of their own holes :lol::lol:

As long as these broads depend on a standup and punch game- they're fucked.

I don't think Cyborg has a chance cuz she'll be head hunting, and before she knows it, she'll be on her back. Cyborg is used to over powering everyone. Won't be the case with Ronda.

ROnda overpowers people, but she also out techniques em.

That Judo game is where it's at for the women, plain and simple. Too bad for the rest. Maybe another Judo pro will come along

I'm not convinced that Judo is better than Wrestling as of yet for the women... that's why it will be very interesting to see UFC 170 Rousey vs. McMann, Olympic Judo vs Olympic Wrestling which style of fighting is better

Whoa, Kemosabe. You do realize Cat Zingano is undefeated (8-0 like Rousey), too, right? The difference between her domination and Rousey's is Rousey's won EVERY one of her fights via the same move. Zingano has won via two different chokes, arm bar, KO slam, TKO via knees, elbows and punches... plus she's gone the distance. Not to mention she's just as physically imposing as Rousey. Maybe you need to let Rousey fight a chick of that caliber before writing off that women's division as being owned by Judo. Remember when Machida was undefeated and Karate was supposedly the new shit running LHW? Right.

hey man, I feel ya.

If you think Cat can handle things, all we can do is wait and see. I truthfully think no one can fuck with Ronda in that weight class and in this current crop.

But regardless she WILL raise the bar for them- they will all be better because she's there.

To keep it real, it's not like that division is overrun with world class female fighters. Hate to sound misogynistic about it, but Rousey's a big fish in a little pond. That Sara McMann chick doesn't really impress me.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Gotta give Weidman props. He has always been super respectful of Silva before and after both fights. And Silva is a GOAT. He ate right hands and elbows that should have ko'd him.

Yeah - July through December has been something.

- Pretty much all of us MMA hardcores recognize that Anderson is GOAT level status. Straight highlight-reeling many people.
- Weidman was a formidable challenge, but we really don't know too much about him in comparison. Strong wrestling and BJJ base, etc. Doesn't have the lengthy UFC experience though.
- Other UFC athletes were talking him up saying he was a legit threat prior to the 1st fight
- Got lucky when Anderson went full Matrix and overboard and ended up getting caught back in July
- Weidman had his moments in both of these fights (once the fights were on the ground), and kudos to his team for emphasizing that he needed to check Silva's kicks effectively ... he wasn't doing much of that in the 1st fight and Anderson caught him a few times. The whole point of the checked kick is to let the opponent know you're aware ... minimize the impact to your own frame ... but also potentially damage their foot or shin in the process, and shit ... we all saw what happened. That leg was fucked

UFC 168 salaries: Weidman, Silva’s paydays lead $1.9 million disclosed payroll

By Dann Stupp December 30, 2013 12:20 pm

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva and Josh Barnett were the top earners at this past weekend’s UFC 168 event.

MMAjunkie today obtained the list of disclosed paydays from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which oversaw the Dec. 28 pay-per-view event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The total disclosed payroll for the event was $1,872,000.

Silva, who suffered a horrific leg break in a headlining loss, earned a base pay of $600,000, and he would have earned an additional $200,000 with a victory. Weidman ranked behind him with $400,000, of which $200,000 was a win bonus. Barnett, meanwhile, earned a flat rate of $170,000 in a knockout loss to Travis Browne, who earned $56,000.

The full list of disclosed paydays included:

Champ Chris Weidman: $400,000 (includes $200,000 win bonus)
def. Anderson Silva: $600,000

Champ Ronda Rousey: $100,000 (includes $50,000 win bonus)
def. Miesha Tate: $28,000

Travis Browne: $56,000 (includes $28,000 win bonus)
def. Josh Barnett: $170,000

Jim Miller: $92,000 (includes $46,000 win bonus)
def. Fabricio Camoes: $8,000

Dustin Poirier: $46,000 (includes $23,000 win bonus)
def. Diego Brandao: $20,000

Uriah Hall: $20,000 (includes $10,000 win bonus)
def. Chris Leben: $51,000

Michael Johnson: $36,000 (includes $18,000 win bonus)
def. Gleison Tibau: $39,000

Dennis Siver: $66,000 (includes $33,000 win bonus)
def. Manny Gamburyan: $25,000

John Howard: $32,000 (includes $16,000 win bonus)
def. Siyar Bahadurzada: $17,000

William Macario: $20,000 (includes $10,000 win bonus)
def. Bobby Voelker: $12,000

Robert Peralta: $24,000 (includes $12,000 win bonus)
def. Estevan Payan: $10,000

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter’s income. They also do not include any other “locker room” or special discretionary bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays. Additionally, they don’t include any pay-per-view revenue some top fighters receive.

For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out additional $75,000 UFC 168 bonuses to Browne (“KO of the Night”), Rousey (“Submission of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” for $150,000 total) and Tate (“Fight of the Night”).

In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

:yes::yes::yes:

I got the UFC package now, so I went back and watched his fights.

The issue is that his fights are just boring. Hard to watch, so a lot of us didn't see him coming. Speaking for myself, I know I didn't.

In a lot of ways it appears he's gonna "GSP" the division now, win a bunch of boring take down and do work fights.

The wrestling aspect of the game is a reliable role, albeit boring to watch.

This I agree with this ....what I think I disagree with you on....and I am not sure if this is your position.....

But a decade or two from now when the women s divisions are prpb just as good and deep as the men s ........

I don t believe that folks will say that Rousey would have been able to dominate that class in the future like she does now.....

In other words she is benifiting from good marketting and a weak infant field.....

Cause a man with her flaws.....would never be anle to what she is doing. .....and...I am hoping that she is hi mm ble enough to work on her stand up

yeah, we agree. Thats pretty much exactly what I'm saying.

When I watch old UFC mens fights, look how long it took for people to beat the Gracies. Now those guys can't get a guy from their family anywhere near a title.

Women's fights are fun to watch. It's not like women's basketball, where it's all boring fundamentals:lol::lol::lol:

They will only get better I believe. But what she's bringing to the game- a level of Judo and Jui Jitsu from someone who's been doing it ALL THEIR LIFE?

They had not seen that yet

All female fighters should be afraid of Rousey after that fight. Unless you got Cyborg power, I don't see any holes in her game that will lead to a loss.

Yeah - the 170 and 185 divisions are going to be interesting in the years to come minus guys like GSP and Silva. Guys so dominant that they were running shit for YEARS. We all know the current crop of guys at both welterweight and middleweight won't be anywhere as dominant as Anderson & Georges, for real. Both aforementioned champs are P4P / GOAT list muthafuckas.

As for Weidman ... my ears began to perk up when a handful of those guys with the Montreal, NJ & NY ties to Tri-Star, Longo, Renzo Gracie, Serra, Farras Zihabi, GSP & others noted he (Chris) wasn't just some fluke cat going in there.

Props on getting that UFC pass, man. I'm tempted ... especially with the back catalogue of WEC and STRIKEFORCE content too. I only really started to take notice of the WEC back around WEC 33 / 34 ... and they always delivered. I need to go back on earlier ones, and not having Showtime ... missed out on lots of Strikeforce, etc.

Gonna be interesting to see how fellow Olympian Sara McMann fares in there with her in a few months.

I definitely wanna see Cyborg & RR at some point.

As well as Holly Holm (from Jackson-Winklejohn there in ABQ) ... she's been building a rep in recent years. Solid striking. She needs to make her way over to the big show from the current smaller market.

I guess so. I enjoyed seeing Andersons dominance because he was so versatile.

He won with punches, elbows, kicks, submissions... ya just never knew.

Jones is the same way.

:yes::yes::yes: thanks, will do.

I only started being a true MMA fan a few years ago, so theres so much to catch up on.

I saw a little bit of the end of strike force, whatever that league Kimbo was in, and of course whatever UFC was going on from around 06.

I try to stay up on Bellator now as well.

Right on ... yeah ... there's been so much MMA in recent years. Bellator, Strikeforce, UFC, OneFC, Elite XC, WEC, Affliction and more.

Yeah ... if you wanna see some wild shit ... go back and look over some of the key match-ups from the WEC. Those smaller weight class cats brought in ... so many wild scraps  - the blue cage, the "oh shit" moments ... ring announcer Joe Martinez always bringing it, etc.

How can one not like cats like Faber reppin' Cali and walking out to California Love for years on end? That smaller show atmosphere was always on point √
