►►► OFFICIAL UFC 183 - Silva vs. Diaz - Saturday, January 31st, 2015 - Las Vegas

This fight was for his conscious ...after the last 2 losses he needed to regain his confidence
Yep. He needed to get that monkey off his back. A full 25 minutes is actually better for him than if he'd stopped him early. He needed to get into the mix and test his tools.

looks like Silva will do the smart thing and fall back. He looked good but he got hit more than I cared for. And age is age. Just let go, I still say. At least he returned and accomplished that.

Joe is a funny fuckin dude. He talks up a fight and the fighters before the fight to hype it up and then after the fight gives you a list of reasons the fight doesn't really tell you shit because of all the disadvantages the loser faced and questions about the winner. He missed his calling as a WWE/RAW script writer.

Agreed. The full 25 mins gives you a much better feel for where the athlete's at mentally and physically.

UFC 183's Ed Herman: 'People can laugh,' but I'm a bad matchup for Anderson Silva

Says the guy who lost to Brunson in 30 seconds on the prelims earlier in the evening ...

He sure can talk the talk..

Despite his age and some mixed results as of late, he feels like now would be the time to try such a tough fight against someone of Silva’s caliber.

“I feel like I’m in my prime, man,” he said. “I feel like I’m peaking. I’m doing things better than I ever have. I feel faster than I ever have. You know, I am 34 years old, but I’ve continued to get better. I’ve continued to learn over the years.

Sometimes its not good to look ahead of your opponent like that...

he shouldve known better, always worry about the fight at hand...

thats what real professionals do...

Yeah - sometimes you have to wonder about athletes' self-confidence. Listened to a number of breakdowns of the card on radio shows and podcasts, and general consensus from most media types is that Herman's one of the slowest mixed martial artists they've ever seen. "Molasses watch(es) Ed Herman fight and thinks ... damn, that's slow ..." with others asking what his legit method(s) of victory would be in that he's slow and plodding ...

My thoughts:
1- I TOLD yall to bet on Woodley. My new betting strategy is to almost always bet on the brutha in a supposedly close match up. I have a variety of reasons for this....

2- Silva fought a really smart fight against Nick. Nick does his best when guys come forward or if he has them against the fence. I'm a big Diaz fan but he really did loose every round of that fight. Regardless of the antics,Silva won most of the exchanges and NICK was the one backing out of the exchanges when they happened. That said, I really hope Silva retires because he looked much slower and tentative than i've ever seen him. I don't see him winning a title again, and anything less wouldn't add to his legacy. As of now, he is one of the GOATS and he should call it quits going out on a win at 40 years old.MAYBE fight a chump but most of the contenders would beat him IMO.

3- That Fight Night card is some BS.

4- Why isn't Lombard being mentioned to fight for Interm title? He has done more than McGregor.

I don't think the way Silva fought this fight is an indication of how he can/will fight from this point forward. It was obvious after they announced his win that he had a major mental mountain to conquer in this fight. It took him 2-3 rounds to even throw the repaired leg with regularity. He was fighting a very conservative fight, but he was still faster and more accurate than his opponent. He even intentionally took some decent shots to the chin without getting wobbled. This was a 'comeback' fight, not his new style or capabilities. Though, Inthink Dana is buggin out if he thinks Silva's ready to fight for the title next. Weidman getting injured is a blessing to stop all that crazy talk. There are actually a lot of great marketable fights in that division for Silva, not that he's vulnerable. Fights we would have blown off before. If Silva is truly back, he could have some of his most exciting and suspenseful fights ahead of him.

Nick didn't fight his normal fight so this fight wasn't what I hoped for. But it was a good fight for Spider. I still wish he would retire. But we'll see how he looks with a little rust off of him.

I thought it was just me,

compared to some of the quicker fighters,

its like you can almost hear him think,

about his next punch...

and he is not even that intimidating at least

look intimidating talkink all that shit..

arrogance will just get your ass kicked

faster in the ufc...

I think Silva should go for his belt then retire, I did not see what you did.

I saw silva go up against one of the craziest fighters in the ufc today, say what you wnat diaz always comes to fight..

Silva is so professional he made diaz look like a slow retard tryin to throw round house kicks

Did you see the round house kick silva almost missed him with,

the velocity in which he whipped that shit..??

did you see that bullshit ass roundhouse diaz executed:lol::lol::lol:

and you say SILVA looks slow..

Nah I saw a cautious silva, who also had his chin tested

by some hard punchs that lands squarely on his jaw

and silva didnt flinch....

To go three rounds with a psycho like diaz after being a year off..

Looking cautious but sharp..

Hes Back!

and should continue on to the belt!!:)

The only thing I noticed slightly off was his

timing and that he can easily acquire after one or

two more matchs..

Go back and watch that insane round house kick anderson

missed him with... the form and speed at which it was executed..

then go look at that sloppy ass round house diaz try to execute..

and THEN tell me if you think he still lost a step...

Looking forward to his next bout...

Silva even went for his uppercut elbow against Diaz. He was conservative, but did show flashes of his former form. Once he gets his timing back... :itsawrap:

This fight reminded me of this.

If he decides to keep going everyone better be careful once his confidence comes back.

It's crazy how many [white] people are trying to compare Diaz's antics in their fight to Anderson's in previous fights, as if they forget that unlike Diaz, Anderson was actually beating up his opponents while antagonizing them, not just trolling while refusing to advance.

folks forget, when he lost the first time

weidman had a serious advantage, he had tons of

tape to study on silva... to analyze him

silva has a little more to study on him now, plus he

can train with machida who fought weidman...

its going to be much different the third time around..
