Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

And you can't argue with people who refuse to realize that anything can happen in a fight and just wanna get their point across.

lol... exactly...

For one this is MMA and ANYTHING can happen.
Nevermind defending the title 10 times.
Nevermind having one of the highest finishing rates in the UFC.
Nevermind being tied for most bonus awards.
Nevermind holding the knockdown record.
It's not like he's submitted anyone before either right?
Plus we've never mentioned him being the GOAT on a daily basis.
So I guess they are right I don't see how this Anderson Silva guy could beat Weidman.
Apparently his time has come/he's washed up now for losing one fight in 7 years.

Anywhoo... Silva lost. He'll go down in UFC history as one of the if not the GOAT. He had a fantastic career.

I know what you're saying but dude is pushing 40.
He can't go on forever.
All that is the past.
Its only a matter of time before you're a step slower.
Happens to everybody.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Just saw this
Chris Weidman:
"I knew coming into the fight that what he could
hurt me most with was the leg kicks. We trained
checking the kick a lot. The idea is to pull your leg
and for their shin to land at the knee. That's exactly
what I did, and I felt his leg go right away."

"I did work on checking kicks,I figured if I (caught)
him on my knee, it could really hurt him. Crazy how
this happened."

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

I wouldnt get in a back and forth if i were you either. Ultimately you would come out looking like the fool. Especially after telling us how you train Muay Thai. Honestly, i could end the shit with one post but i have nothing to prove. Just do some research before talking in that condescending ass tone.

 right to a bunch of random unknown dudes on the internet.

look, dont forget all i do is click the X on the upper right hand corner or logoff and bgol and the screenames disappear from the screen and i still live life beyond this. its not that serious to me but im glad that it is for you brother, congrats.

Not about it being overly serious or disappearing by clicking the x. You came at me on some condescending bullshit where you accused me of being ignorant and wrong on something that i know exactly wtf i was talking about. You made matters worse by qualifying your idiocy by saying you train Muay Thai. You were loud and wrong bro. Chill the fuck out next time.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

edit: he posted this a year ago & on his fb page he said he's gonna post another video explaining why due to the fight tonight.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Gotta love the big UFC cards, all. Plenty of discussion& the Anderson Silva ones always generate the most discussion (good or bad) here @ BGOL. Just got in from the party ... and we were definitely in shock over there. First thing we could think of with the leg snap was COREY HILL & KEVIN WARE ... each with their own drastic injuries. Wow.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

This dude Voelker a bloody mess :smh:

Agreed. We watched it later in the evening as they filled the PPV timeslot to cap the night & knew the cat was a bloody mess when his opponent's hair color changed from yellow to red (a la Chris Leben) from formerly looking like Wesley Snipes circa Demolition Man in the mid-90s. Also ... when the blood was dripping from the bridge of his nose, nostrils, mouth ... down onto his chest ... shorts ... shins & feet. Dude's a fighter's fighter & has been in some scraps over the years. The opponent looked impressive out there working that striking.

:eek::puke:

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

End of an era.
:(

His fighting days might be over seriously:itsawrap:
They are.:smh:

man give that kid his props

hes won every round in the octagon against anderson

If it was Silva dudes her ewould be saying he breaks any fighter. Weidman will never get his due ... on this board. Oh Well. History will show 2 stoppage wins.

I'm deflated as fuck.:(
Mna, me too. I could accept a decision, no matter how fair or rotten in either direction, a TKO, a KO, a Tap Out. But this ... this was shoclking as hell. Still can't beleive that this would happen to a master striker.

salute to Weidman, but I have no clue how good he is yet. But a win is a win

I have to agreee somehwat with this. I never saw him as a true threat to AS. But GSP and Sonnen swore by him. And little by little he's winning me over. I think his best test is Jacare.

It's his only bet. RJJ was a favorite before, even as faded as he is. But now, I doubt it will even sell.

Props for keeping MMA on this board. On another note, I was also shocked at how Browne annihalted Barnett. I still don't see him beating Cain or Cormier.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Rousey will lose to a striker...I need to see her classless ass beat

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Fully agree with everyone's comments below from earlier in the evening. All we could talk about at the party was -

- Oh shit ... I need to go outside and smoke / drink
- That shit snapped
- Shades of Ware / Hill / Rose & many more cats w/ serious injuries
- Weidman with the KO in July & serious checking of a kick in December
- The fuck?
- One must drink their milk & maintain that calcium level & bone density
- GDamn, son!
- Oh shit ... is Vitor (Bisping/Rockhold/Henderson) next to kick his (Weidman's) head off now?
- Again ... what the fuck?
- Closing in on 39 years old ... I suppose Silva's career is over (and he's got some 7 fights left on his 10-fight contract), etc ...
- Wow ... we're still shocked & shook, fam'.

Damn that shit broke.

Sure thing, J'. Always good to have the fam' reppin' for MMA on the board. We're just under 7.5 years deep (August 2006 - present) on the IN CASE YOU MISSED IT thread, homie. We'll keep that shit going into 2014 and beyond. Props on the boxing links & MMA discussion √

watching the presser, he definitely meant for shin to hit knee.

Chris had the answer for them leg kicks.

It was supposed to just hurt, but that break was a consequence as well.

I got respect for the win.

Definitely been an interesting year for the sport.

- A fight of the year contender in Jones/Gustaffson
- Many of us thinking it would be a squash match for Jones
- Grice/Bermudez also a FOTY contender (Grice nearly being killed by a speeding driver later in the year)
- The controversial ending to Hendricks/GSP with GSP announcing his departure from the sport thereafter
- The Weidman/Silva 1 finish in July
- The Weidman/Silva 2 fight-ending injury in December
- Faber going 4-0 in the year and earning an eventual (aka - another) title shot
- The surge from the Alpha Male fighters under Ludwig's helpful coaching
- Overeem being stopped twice
- Etc.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

LAS VEGAS – Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Travis Browne each earned $75,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC 168 event, and Rousey doubled up with another $75,000.

Rousey earned the “Submission of the Night,” Browne won “Knockout of the Night” and Rousey and Tate picked up “Fight of the Night” honors. The double bonus gave Rousey a total of $150,000 in bonus money.

UFC President Dana White announced the winners at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie attended. The post-fight bonus awards typically are $50,000 – but White has said in the past he reserves the right to up them for special occasions. With a live gate reported by White at $6.2 million on Saturday, UFC 168 appears to be one of those.

**************************************************

LAS VEGAS – Anderson Silva remains in a Las Vegas hospital following successful surgery to repair a broken leg he suffered trying to regain the UFC’s middleweight title.

Silva (33-6 MMA, 16-2 UFC) on Saturday threw a kick that was checked by champion Chris Weidman (11-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC), and in the process Silva’s left leg was badly broken. The fight was the main event of UFC 168 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Following Silva’s surgery, the UFC issued a statement announcing UFC orthopedic surgeon Dr. Steven Sanders had repaired Silva’s broken left tibia as well as stabilized his broken left fibula. The UFC estimated his recovery time to be as long as six months.

“Following Saturday evening’s UFC 168 main event, former champion Anderson Silva was taken to a local Las Vegas hospital where he underwent surgery to repair a broken left leg. The successful surgery, performed by Dr. Steven Sanders, the UFC’s orthopedic surgeon, inserted an intramedullary rod into Anderson’s left tibia. The broken fibula was stabilized and does not require a separate surgery. Anderson will remain in the hospital for a short while, but no additional surgery is scheduled at this time. Recovery time for such injuries may vary between three and six months. Anderson is deeply touched by the outpouring of support from his fans and the entire MMA community. There has been no immediate decision about his future, and he would kindly ask for privacy at this time as he deals with his injury and prepares to return home to recover.”

****************************************************

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Dana needs to expand the women s division...he is underachieving. ..the fans are now used to it...he needs to add more fighters to the under cards and needs to expand to 140 and then eventually a 145 lbs weight class...

I even hear that Rousey is having trouble making weight...she fought at 160 in the olympics and folks say back then she used to walk around at 180...now I bet money she walks around at 155....

I'm looking forward to the strawweight division (115 lbs) next year and how TUF 20 eventually plays out. TUF Canada-Australia will begin airing on January 15th. TUF China is currently airing. The next US version of TUF will be that season with Edgar-Penn. These shorties from Invicta ... they've put on some good scraps throughout their careers & several are rather easy on the eyes √ - I'll watch Herrig, VanZant, Lima, Esparza, Torres, Namajunas, and others anytime, fam'. They ain't no bitches. Shout out to Nick Diaz. 209 represent.:lol:

Yeah, Weidman is getting no respect. If the break doesn't happen and Weiman wins, some cats here would say it was because Silva was too old. It would be Weidman beat a past prime Silva and Silva showboated the first fight. Weidman was in a lose/lose to some 'mma fans' here from the jump.

When Silva pulled the same shit he did in the first fight against Weidman against other fighters but won, cats said it was part of his strategy. When he loses, it's the reason he lost.

I still think Silva is the GOAT. We seen great runs by both Silva and St. Pierre end this year. We almost witnessed Jones losing too. Just goes to show cats aren't invincible.
