49ers

As expected, the 49ers today triggered a three-week window for rookie running back Marcus Lattimore to begin practicing with the team. They did the same for undrafted offensive tackle Luke Marquardt, who had been recovering from a broken foot and who, like Lattimore, has yet to practice with his team.

Marquardt is intriguing because of his impressive size - 6-8, 315 pounds - and because the 49ers have been without a true "swing" tackle since Alex Boone started playing guard last season. Marquardt played at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California, but his foot injury washed out his senior season. He had a follow-up surgery on the foot in April and was merely an observer during the 49ers offseason sessions.

Both Lattimore, who is recovering from a major knee injury suffered last October, and Marquardt remain on the non-football injury list. Neither is expected to be activated to the 49ers' 53-man roster at the end of the three-week practice period.

To further illustrate what i have been talking about

With no Kyle Williams to steal snaps.

out of 57 offensive plays our #2 wr was only out there 27 times. that's 30 plays of offense where we did not have our #2 wr on the field. HOW do you have a passing attack that has any rhythm when you don't even have your #2 wr in there 53% of the time? Riddle me that and Baldwin not out there 63% of the time?

hunter got a whopping 7 snaps

james got a whopping 4

Gore was out there for 47 of the 57 plays and only got 13 carries which means 73% of his snaps he was either straight up blocking or going out in the flat...

macdonald got 38 of the snaps and majority of that time was spent blocking. so we have him blocking but we're not running so who's going out for passes?

how can any qb succeed with this setup?

on defense, reid, whitner, bowman willis and rogers were the only ones who didn't come out the game at any point on defense.

aldon got 44 snaps

corey only got 4

eric wright imo did an excellent job he looked sharp and was right there with the man he was supposed to guard so that's excellent he just NOW needs to take that next step and start deflecting some of these passes the speed is there and the tackling was there im excited.

brock was still a stud.

graham didn't do anything.

So when you don't have 2 wr's on the field 53% of the game

and your primary is always 1 wr 1 te and 1 fb

you tell me how he's supposed to spread the ball around or who he's supposed to throw it to most or how many yards he's supposed to have with literally nobody viable out there. lol

kaepernick is talented but with the read option all but dead, he's just another young struggling QB, we need Alex :hithead::crying:

I don't know if we need Alex, but we gotta do something! I got love for Alex, and I'm glad he's in a good situation, but I think I'd rather have Kap. With that being said, Kap has to play better... I know the passing offense is struggling as a whole, but we've all seen what Kap can do throwing the football. Yes, defenses adjust, but it doesn't seem as if the coaches or Kap are making the counter adjustments.

We have too much talent to not average at least 28-31 points per game... we gotta find a way to get more balanced on offense. This season is slipping away from us one tough NFC loss at a time. :smh:

let me further illustrate to you guys what i am talking about and why it is roman and not kap.

When the 49ers went to their standard twin tight-end, two running-back set, Ryan typically responded with four linemen, four linebackers and only three defensive backs. Ryan even unveiled that defense when the 49ers faced a third-and-2 from the 49ers' 48 with 11:14 left in the second quarter.

The 49ers responded with two running backs, a tight end and two receivers. One of the running backs was LaMichael James. It means the 49ers could have put James in the slot and run four receivers (James, tight end Vernon Davis, wide receivers Anquan Boldin and Mario Manningham) on the "all go."

With four receivers streaking down the field and only three defensive backs, someone has to be open for a possible touchdown.

Instead the 49ers decided to run up the middle with James. With nine Saints on the line of scrimmage, James was smothered by defensive linemen Akiem Nicks and Broderick Bunkley for no gain.

now tell me if this makes sense to anyone else here

if LMJ isn't getting any burn why should we believe they gonna let Lattimore spin

because he's frank gore 10 years younger. there will always be a spot for a frank gore. and ideally we'll have 2 frank gores at one time and then hunter and lmj anthony dixon will be cut.

He isn't playing at all this season. He was drafted for the future.

I have no problems with letting this kid learn and heal this season.

none at all. however i want tank to get in with dial fangio needs to use the depth not just stockpile it.

right now the world is focused on kap and focused on saying he just plain isn't good.

we'll see what he and roman and jim are made of going down the stretch. i don't worry about the defense we already faced the teams that could do the most damage and they couldn't do anything. so if the defense is dialed in they'll get us a chance.

if the offense catches up, then watch the fuck out

There was a familiar face at the 49ers facility today: Dashon Goldson.

The Buccaneers safety, who is serving a one-game suspension for an illegal hit, was spotted in a side room in the locker room today. Running back Frank Gore and inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman were among the players to enter the room to greet him.

Goldson, who signed with Tampa Bay in March after spending his first six seasons with the 49ers, can’t be at the Buccaneers’ facility this week while he is serving his suspension.

that's strange to me

SANTA CLARA – Cornerback Tramaine Brock agreed to terms Friday afternoon on a four-year, $16 million contract that includes $7 million in guaranteed money, a source told CSNBayArea.com.

Brock will make his first career start Monday night when the 49ers face Washington in place of Tarell Brown, who is out with a ribs injury.

brock will be here for 4 more years at least.

He never wanted to go and his fam still lives out there.. Losing him hurt us, Reid is a lil better in coverage, but Goldson was the heart n soul of our secondary, Tampa got a gem..

our defense is better this year and it's because of reid man lol.

our defense has actually been lights out the entire year. i get what you mean as far as his spirit but the truth is reid is better and has made our secondary way way way better than it was last season. and that's no slight on dashon but we made the right decision on that one

um not have everybody so bunched up in "22" personnel where its obvious we're about to run. maybe disguise our intents a lil better. we literrally are not doing ourselves any favors so bunched up where they have 8-9 men in the box. that hampers the run game and makes the passing game obsolete (see,32 ranked passing).

right i was building on your point not questioning you lol. laying out the stuff we all see.

the confused smiley is correct though. im confused as to why we can see it but they can't

:( my bad lolz

we know they know what theyre doing, see past two seasons, but dammit they aint doing it this season :smh::smh:

Lattimore just might be Frank Gore 2. We drafted Gore after 2 blown ACL's so maybe Lattimore can do the same.. One thing I know for sure is, franky is slow as shit, he has great patience & timing, but he's so damn slow.. We need to let LMJ spin!!

During our 5 game winning streak when we were averaging 28-31 points a game what was the offense doing? Power run game and use it to set up the pass. We ran the ball all 4 quarters... In our 4 losses we ran the ball 3.5 times per game in the 2nd half. Makes no damn sense. :smh:

Have you seen at any point this season where we've bunched in 22 personnel, run the ball a few times and then hit a hard play action pass off of it?... I"m not talking about that bullshit play-action we do where Kap is in shotgun and then fakes it to no one either.

How about 22 personnel where the 2 backs were Gore & Hunter perhaps?. Send them both into the pattern. Let a LB try to keep up with them in space.

How about coming out in 22 personnel and then splitting everyone out creating an empty backfield set? That would certainly confuse the defense and create mismatches...

There is a lot you can do with a basic personnel package and formations to make the defenses life very hard. We just haven't seen it.

Kaepernick? :hmm:

Come on man, I know y'all saw that shit too
5:00mins left of the 2nd qtr.... Kaep almost throws an INT while Hunter was WIDE DA FUCK OPEN for the check down !!!

:cmonson::cmonson::cmonson:

yup saw it. he didn't see him, however can't say he wasn't looking for others in the field of play.

he's been way better. we need to pound the ball. and we keep the passing rhythm up.

its not a miracle that in a game where he has more than 1 wr option he hits more than 1 wr and goes through progressions

like we've been saying

we get the ball first.

we need to go down get a touchdown make it 17-6 and the defense needs to tighten up an play some close man instead of that soft coverage.

On a side note...
I've seen a bunch of Redskins holding us & the refs not calling anything!
Holding Justin, holding Aldon, etc!

No flag at all

But fo real, Redskins defense is one of the worst in the league
We should be blowing these dudes out
Our offense is just horrible
