Johniz - My bad. I forgot about adding my JDS-HUNT pick for the spring season. I'm saying JDS. He's looked for years, but Velasquez straight owned him in December 2012. Hunt's quite the story in recent years. The UFC wanted to just buy him out a few years ago from his old PRIDE contract. He had lost 6 in a row or whatever (in or out of Pride - I can't quite recall). Then he comes into the UFC and loses by sub' to Sean McCorkle of all people in December 2010. Now he's won 4 in a row ... and is a fan fave in his late-30s. Wild. He lacks cardio and is short in stature ... I wanna see him and JDS stand and trade, but I still wanna see JDS' ground game at some point. He's got a great ground game, but doesn't need to use it.

As for GSP ... what's most frustrating with him is that he's such a dominant champ. But just finish someone already. Hell ... 25 MINS WITH FITCH ... 25 mins with HARDY ... 25 mins with ALVES ... 25 mins with KOSCHECK ... 25 mins with CONDIT ... 25 MINS WITH SHIELDS ... and 20 with Penn back in 2009 before his corner threw in the towel. Despite dominating these guys (EXCEPT FOR CONDIT) ... he's put his body through the ringer and has sustained damage himself. I wanna see him finish people off as he closes out his final few years. Shit ... he damn near cranked Hardy's arm(s) off in 2010. Props to Hardy there. Most other guys would have tapped on that shit.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 158 - March 16th - GSP / DIAZ / Condit / Hendricks / Marquardt /

Johniz - He's huge here in Canada. He's won Canadian Athlete of the Year a few times, and Sportsnet, The Score, and TSN all give a decent amount of coverage to the UFC (especially Sportsnet and their ties to the org') and they always do a great job with PRELIMS, TUF (for those who don't have FX Canada), and event coverage (especially with GSP-headlined cards).

But shit ... he puts himself in peril in there. All it takes is something quick like a sub from Hughes ... a quick shot and follow-up ground and pound from Serra. When you're in there for 25 mins with SEVERAL different styles ... you're constantly at risk (even if you're constantly winning the bulk of the rounds). He performed well against Condit last fall, but shit ... we all saw how BUSTED UP his face was at the post-fight presser. French-Canadian homie was marked up something real. * He MIGHT be in cruise control at times ... dominating opponents, but shit ... fuck the legacy & brand ... go APESHIT on a muthafucka and finish someone off. Straight hulksmash someone for once so that your fans aren't sitting nervously watching :lol:

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 158 - March 16th - GSP / DIAZ / Condit / Hendricks / Marquardt /

One thing many have been pointing out of late is that DIAZ is very susceptible to cuts & showing damage (as is GSP). He has plenty of scar tissue, cuts easily, and has had his brow/nearby regions' bones filed down in the past. GSP can undoubtedly put on more of a striking arsenal than say KJ Noons (see either link below) ... so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a TKO stoppage at some point based on cuts ... IF GSP isn't going for a sub or KO finish. DIAZ is very durable, but can he go the full 25 with Mr. Decision Wins?

Forgot about the Noons fight. I will be very interested to see how this plays out. On the feet I want to see if gsp boxes with diaz. On the ground I wanna who tried the most submissions. Don't be surprised if condit stops Hendricks. Great fight potential in both bouts.

That would be wild. Put a COMPLETE stop to Hendricks' hype and momentum with the quick KOs of both Fitch and Kampmann. Condit is definitely more well-rounded. Just needs to be careful with J's punching power and wrestling pedigree.

Issei Tamura aND TJ Dillashaw making their way out to the Octagon now ... fight #2 in a few minutes.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 158 - March 16th - GSP / DIAZ / Condit / Hendricks / Marquardt /

I'm gonna be straight up: I hope GSP loses. I've rooted against him ever since he greased against BJ Penn.

Ming,

Nick Diaz is not a fan of vaseline, steroids, people getting their noses powdered up, wolf tickets, and opponents getting buttered up, etc.

As crazy as it sounds, I think a loss would be good for GSP. If they got a trilogy out of this, it would be big bank for the UFC, too. I think people would rather see him fight back in dramatic fashion from a loss than keep watching him win anti-climactic take down tournaments.

True - he's lacked that killer instinct for years. He's preserving the legacy & brand which is GSP (big money pay / PPV point percentage / Gatorade / Under Armour / etc). I read somewhere about his endorsements last year ... there are over 10 or whatever. It's been years of decisions now (with that long 1.5 year layoff too) ... and many would rather see the GSP of old. I.E. - HUGHES / SERRA around UFC 79 & 83, and the TKO stoppage of Penn (i.e. - Greasegate).

I'm always waiting for people to Worldstar themselves and break their necks. Shit ... Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez would backflip from atop the cage in the WEC & Bellator respectively. You've gotta think the orgs & their teams are nervous when they pull that shit

Good UFC debut from Jordan Mein. Always been a fan of his. He's been fighting since his teens, and even faced Rory M. back when they were kids coming up in the Canadian ranks a handful of years back. Tactical fighter and hits hard & stays composed. For those who haven't seen him before, watch his devastating finish of Santos in STRIKEFORCE back in 2011 or so. HELLBOWS. Elbows from hell!

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 158 - March 16th - GSP / DIAZ / Condit / Hendricks / Marquardt /

Damn, dude might have gone on to get KO'd, but that stoppage was premature as fuck. :smh:

where dem lanks at mayne?

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 158 - March 16th - GSP / DIAZ / Condit / Hendricks / Marquardt /

Damn...The Elkins/Carvalho fight was stopped a bit premature.

Carvalho was probably still gonna be finished, but Lavine could have let that go a few more seconds.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 158 - March 16th - GSP / DIAZ / Condit / Hendricks / Marquardt /

Yeah - that was a quick stoppage. Carvalho's got power in his hands, and Elkins is a durable wrestler (often goes to decisions). He caught Carvalho with a few shots, and was probably on his way to a win ... but the fight could have gone an additional few seconds just to be sure.

Yeah man - that was one of the earlier Facebook prelims (Dillashaw/Tamura). They had to fill some space on the televised portion of the prelims, so they re-aired it with the quick stoppage in the 2nd there. Good shit from Dillashaw. He's had a variety of wins in the UFC. Decision / submission / KO. Keeps improving (runner-up to John Dodson on TUF a few seasons back).
