Who here has surveillance cameras set up at your crib? Need advice on a nice setup.

Might get that Netgear Orbi. Bought the Ring door bell 2 with the chime pro, and im not getting a strong signal. But the signal is strong with the older Ring door bell one at my back door :dunno:

Hope the price drop during black Friday.

People ran up in the neighbors home, and wifey heard tapping on the windows. Right now I'm leaning towards the armcrest, video cams are there any other better options I'm missing

Ring is getting into smart home lighting
And introducing new cameras, too

ringbeams.0.jpg

Ring started out with video doorbells and lots and lots of security cameras, but now the company is expanding into a related but less obviously security-focused field: lighting.

The smart camera maker is announcing today that it has acquired Mr Beams, a small company that’s been making wireless LED lights for about a decade. As Ring begins to fold in Mr Beams, it’ll be able to add the company’s lineup of wireless lights, like ceiling lights and lanterns, into its connected portfolio.

That starts with a handful of products: a motion sensor, a nightlight, a stair light, a spotlight, and a path light. The lights are all battery powered and include built-in motion sensors, so they’ll only turn on at night when there’s movement. They also connect to Ring’s appso they can work in conjunction with its security cameras and doorbells. The products are all weatherproof and generally seem to be meant for lighting up the outside of a home.

While these aren’t Ring’s very first lights — it already offers floodlight and spotlight cameras — they’re the first that aren’t connected to security cameras, and they show a clear intention to begin offering a variety of lighting products. Being able to light up the outside of your home certainly ties into Ring’s security story, but it’s also just something a lot of homeowners want regardless, so that they and guests can see where they’re going at night.

Of course, Ring isn’t slacking on security cameras just because of this lighting expansion. It’s also introducing two new weatherproof cameras, the Stick Up Cam and the Stick Up Cam Elite. Both are 1080p cameras with built-in motion sensors. The main difference is that the standard version is battery powered, while the Elite version can be powered over Ethernet or through a wall outlet.

There’s no pricing or availability info for any of these products yet. And details are still pretty vague on how the new Beams-style products will connect to Ring’s products — Ring tells us a hub won’t be required though. Ring also announced that it plans to begin shipping its professionally monitored home security system sometime this spring.

If you go wireless make sure your WAP is on point. I use ubiquity. It has been going strong for nearly 2 years without a reboot. Also make sure you are using cameras in the 5.8 frequency range like 80211N or AC..

If you can checkout ubiquiti wireless access points.

Not sure why so many people are stuck on wifi cameras .. No matter what the camera needs power

I prefer having a NVR to record 24/7 , I want audio recorded with the Video
Which is Not very common because of privacy wiretapping laws
BUT if someone is on my property or in my home , They lost all exception of privacy

Synology is probably the very best come with licence for four cameras and can record upto 12
Will record audio from your cameras ,,, and works with 99.9% of all IP cameras you can get from any where

Lorex Systems will record audio from the cameras
https://www.lorextechnology.com/4k-...camera-system-with-4-hd-cameras/4KHDIP822-1-p

Reolink will record audio from the cameras - BUT they say their NVR will ONLY work with Reolink cameras
this made me say Hum

Amcrest has Good POE IP NVR's that record you video ( But not audio )

I have used Synology and Amcrest .. But are Good ,,, I prefer the synology for the Fantastic interface, the way the video files are saved and records the Audio
The Amcrest works very nice for a standard System at a good price ,,, but no audio

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I do not like being Locked into one company's cameras
I am about to try one of these
Simple. They work, they are cheaper and easier to install. With a commercial grade WAP. You should experience zero down time. The only downtime I experienced is when one of my older cameras died on me. My cameras covers 3500 sq-ft.
Edit: I have been using blue iris for years. It is rock solid.
Dont get these fucking lights! I fucking hate these stupid ass ground lights people stick in the yard! :angry:
How we sposed to cut the fucking grass?! And when one get stepped on or shattered when we clip with the string trimmer the homeowner wanna bitch and have me pay for it!! FOH!!!
And pulling em up out the ground before & after service is a pain, but of course... we rather that than have them disappear 1 by 1 during the growing season.
And the wired ones are the worst!!! :angry:
Cant pull em up, wires rarely entrenched deep enough, & stakes are janky
Get one of those doorbells with a camera. I believe it has an app that you can allow you and your family to see who pulls up. They can also hear the people who approach
I didn't read every single line of this thread, but after a quick review I didn't see any mention of security concerns with regard to the vulnerability of these devices to snooping. I was bothered by the fact that many of them constantly communicate with foreign IPs with no documentation of what data is being sent. I have a few cheap Wyzecam units because they document the servers their units work with and most of them are US based.
