Who here has surveillance cameras set up at your crib? Need advice on a nice setup.

I'm giving Lorex a shot. I went with
4K Ultra HD IP 16-Channel NVR System
With the 10 Camera setup.

Ring for the Doorbell , Synology for everything else

Use any ONVIF IP camera , google if you do not know, sold Everywhere
You will need the box + POE switch then pick your cameras
I have been using these cameras , But pick what you want
````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
This is the main issue
When you want to get the Video off the system, Sit down and really try it one day , When you need that video now you do not want to jump hoops.
I can goto ANY computer in the house and EASY get the video and in MP4 format. anywhere in the world I can put in the systems URL log in with my password and download my video. Some systems you must stick a USB into the box and then the video is in some weird format. Synology records sound. Few others do that.
Some people get so caught-up in bells & whistles ( synology does all that ) They never check how to get the video from the system.
Can also live stream to YouTube direct from your security cameras
This is a good setup. I also would recommend Synology. For me it's a easy setup and user friendly.
Seeing as how this thread is now 6 months old since the last post, any new suggestions for a hardwired camera system? Don't wanna deal with wireless as the bandwidth won't be as strong or consistent and is more prone to potential interference/hacking than a hard wired system.
I got those lil Ring mini cams. Only $50 a piece. Ring on outside. No issues at all.
Aren't those wireless though?
yep but you’d be surprised how well they work. Actually depending on your house you can get just two of those for $100 and they are super reliable. Using ring app I can see and hear everything in real time or talk to the delivery folks. One Amazon dude actually put my package in my bushes but I was talking to him on the outdoor cam and told him we good over here. Nobody takes out shit in my subdivision.
A few weeks ago during the riots Amazon basically told me their truck was stolen with my shit in it :smh:
I feel you. I would just feel more comfortable with a hardwired setup
Hardwired is always best, the cons are getting the wire from point A to B and hidden.
Wireless cons are the structure of the home (concrete walls, metal mesh in plaster walls,etc) can impede or reduce the signal getting from point A to B. Interference from other or too many other wireless electronics. Or limited range.
This. Also as someone who did it for the military you always need to have two lines of detection and some redundancy. So if the cams go out you have your motions sensors or bms (balanced magnetic switch, basically magnet and best sensor ever) infrared, passive/active etc still able to detect. Cams are so inexpensive now you’d be a fool not to have some types or even mix em.
two are hardwired but you can use other systems with those. IPOE cams are good too. I also had the Amcrest IP cam but it rusted outside. Use the analogy of 360 and X. Most common access points.Intruders will have to cross at least one line of detection. Two of you do it right and it doesn’t take a genius to do it.
Not with a great WAP. Ubiquiti for the win fam.
I have the Google nest system around my home and it works amazingly well. Anytime I get movement, an alert goes straight to my phone no matter where I am in the world. And to those complaining about the fee that's retarded since it cost the equivalent of a fast food meal per month. It's well worth it.
Amcrest does the same thing and there is no monthly fee and it works via 2nd party services like Blue Iris.
I'm kinda iffy on Nest right now. There's been far too many issues of Nest going down for both their smart thermostats & camera systems as of late. I don't have the cameras but have the thermostat & it's definitely frustrating when the system randomly goes down. Google has yet to explain the reasons why
Honeywell thermostat is very reliable. I think both of mine are T6.
Don't get it twisted. I luv my nest thermostat but lately Google has been dropping the ball on service with random system issues on their end that disturbs the service. It's been affecting their nest products across the board
Going with a new system when i get some free time. Maybe POE
