Post that joker. We had eight tracks in the crib but a mix tape? :smh::smh:

Don't hold your breath, homie. 8-track mix tape? GTFOHWTBS.

Who remember when you had to wait until Saturday to watch cartoons? Then, when they started showing cartoons on the UHF, your mornings started out with The Little Rascals, The Three Stooges, and Speed Racer. Came home after school to find The Flinstones and Tom & Jerry... then you went outside to "get booty" w/Renee' who always wore tube tops and jellybeans and would be your girlfriend if you would show her your dick.

Can it be that it was all so simple then?

Oh, shit! Me too! Back in the 70's, grownups didn't give a fuck about that! "Hey, run up to Majik Markit and get me a pack of Kool longs. Get yourself something and bring my damn change back.":lol::lol::lol:

Yep. I remember doing the same. And when corner stores would keep a "tab". You didn't have to pay for anything, you just walk in the store and get it and the owner knew who you were so they just put it on your parents "tab".

I'm 32 so I'm right in the middle of it all. I'm old enough to remember when there were no cell phones, but young enough to use a smartphone with ease. I remember things like floor tv's, playing football in the street, and life without Internet. Shit, y'all know they're bringing the show Dallas back right? I'm old enough to remember the original show.

No no. I wasn't sleeping on it. I was saying, back then encyclopedias were my best bestest friends. I'd just sit there and read from them, all the time. We had an old set, and i remember my mother sometimes would take me to the rich peoples houses when she worked. And i'd sit in their libraries and read their encyclopedias and other books. I'm laughing because really i haven't even looked at 1 in ages. Not since the internet lol.

I was considered fortunate because I had a 13 in color tv in my room as a kid . there was no cable you had 2-13 and they would all stop broadcasting aroud 10:30 - 11:00 except ch 5 on the weekends would have " movies til dawn"

Cigarette machines (Swooooooooooooooon) My brothers used to hijack those and just we'd be smoking till the cows came home lol. You remember the bottled soda dispensers? When soda was a quarter?

Remember soda fountains!!! Black and white tv's yep. How easy it used to be steal your neighbors cable. Cassette tapes, i still have a bunch of mine. Even though i can't even remember the last time i saw a casette player. Remember when the Sony Walkman FIRST came out! How GIANT that thing was.
Yeah I remember that thing. I remember getting orange Nehi out of one for 25 cents.

I remember soda fountains too. When dude behind the counter would make you a cream soda or a cherry coke using flavored SYRUP. I also remember Lawrence Welk. I used to DESPISE that show. My mom would have it on after my naps on Sunday evening. I'd be sitting in front of the tv, before dinner, not all the way awake - getting depressed having to hear white people songs from 1910 and whatnot ("Bicycle Built for Two", "While Strolling Through The Park One Day"). :hmm:

Toys:
Duncan butterfly yo-yos, Bat Kites, Marbles, Evel Knievel, Vertibird, G.I. Joe w/ Kung Fu grip, Sizzlers, Hot Wheels, Model Kits, Barrel of Monkeys, Pick-Up-Sticks, talking ViewMaster, Big Jim, Micronauts, SSP racers...

Who remembers Johnny Socko and Giant Robot?, Ultraman? Space Giants? Hot Fudge? The Big Blue Marble?

or THIS:

Anyone remembers those gas pumps you had to put money in to get gas? It might just be a country thing but they had a slot similar to a vending machine. They were real easy to rig to get gas for free. My uncle used to go to this one spot every week with a dollar and a piece of tape and fill up for free.

Yeah, my dad used to buy them. They were just 8 track tapes that had a collection of the current hot songs on them, and some used to have dope album cuts and B sides.

Exactly...8-track recorders were not as common as cassette recorders.

The guy at the store would let you pick the cuts...

Except once when he had Junior do it,and he recorded a 20 minute scratched record:angry:

We called it "Catch a girl, freak a girl". That garden in the church was befouled many a time.

We called it hide and go get it! Same concept. Damn it's some old ass dudes up in here! Not excluding myself. I remember all of the above.

Especially....

Penny candy
Cheap gas
No seat belts or car seats
b/w television
come home when the street lights come on
$1.00 Movies (not the throwbacks, the new shit)
8-tracks (I had an 8-track boom box, it was heavy as hell)
Jheri curls and curl activator
Hi top Fades (that shit is coming back now)
Duece and a quarter was a car not money.
a nickel bag would last for a whole week
Hit it raw and not be afraid to die!!
A fresh pair of sneaks (Converse Chuck Taylor's) cost about 20 bucks!
Drive-In Movies (getting some pussy in the back seat)
Cassette mixed tapes
Wild irish rose - cheap ass wine
Malt Liquor!!
Block Parties and blue lights in the basement.

I could go on and on.....

The good old days. I'm just hoping this era has some good memories because we live in a fucked up society today!

Man those were the days.....

My first drank.

I begged for this thing and never got it. If i found a working one today I would buy it.
Well if it helps, when I got mine for my birthday, I only played with it for like a week. After that it wasn't all that fun anymore. Something about seeing stuff like that on tv commercials that made them seem larger than life lol.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:
When I was little I used to pretend I was Hayata and act like the toilet paper roll holder was the "beta capsule". Mom was like. :hmm:

I used to wish for a pair of A.J. jeans. I remember when my Puerto Rican mother used to tell the teachers it was OK to hit me of I got out Off line. Ahhh the good post days.

I went to catholic elementary school for a few years and got beat by nuns in class...old cranky penguin lookin bitches  They would call our parents up if we were really acting up. A few times you'd see someone get called to the doorway and their parent would be there waiting for them, then they come back minutes later with that snivelling, snotty, sneezy, crying, just-got-that-ass-whipped look on their face

My 12 yr old nephew bawled his eyes out to my sister because even an old man like me had a PS3 and he doesn't. I'm in my fucking 30s, dammit!

I remember being in High School and watching game 6 of the 1980 NBA finals, Magic's rookie year (Lakers vs Sixers) on tape delay Friday Night on WCBS. The game was at 8pm in Philly and wouldn't be shown in NYC until after the 11pm news.

People don't realize how much the league changed after He and Bird entered.

I'm 21 and know what a record is.. 16 is a bit old too not know what a record is.

Off the Wall = Best MJ album btw

The first time I felt old was when I was mentoring a kid from Newark at my job. We were talking rap and he said "I don't listen to old school like Method Man" when I pulled up the LL Cool J - 4,3,2,1 video. :smh:

The 90s ain't 10 years ago anymore

remember having a tape set to record so that when your fav song played on the radio you could record it and being mad as all fucking hell when the dj talked too long and ruined it so you had to reset and wait lol.

When you heard the National Anthem, :itsawrap: :lol::lol:

:lol::lol::lol:
Because that loud ass static was next.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

and those color bars. mom would yell, "git yo ass in that bed... and if ya feet hit the floor, i'm whoopin yo ass."

We called it "Catch a girl, freak a girl". That garden in the church was befouled many a time.

we used to call it, "catch. kiss. get a lil bit." the girls would run, and if you could catch them, they'd let you dry hump their booty.

nicca had a hump in his back like the letter, "C" humping like a motherfucker against straight-up Lee jeans.
