So many of them... everyone who dies turns, and at least in the beginning, you have to think that people weren't thinking "zombie/walker...kill it" they were thinking "Oh shit, what's wrong with uncle Fred... I better get him to a hospital....ouch, mufucka bit me!". So within a few days, something like that could get pretty out of hand, and like my man said in season 1, they're easy to take one on one, but when they're all hungry and in a swarm, it's a different story. For everyone you permanently kill, how many others are turned?
Yeah, that exterminator and the old man should have loudly told both the doctors to shut the fuck up, and maybe even get up in their faces.
