The Strain Official Thread Discussion

Have yu seen 28 days later?

Man, walking dead world is a walk in the park compared to these two

The one thing I can't understand about the walking dead is how the fuck those slow moving, slow turning dumb as fuck zombies managed to take over the entire USA.

Vasily is that dude. He's the Abraham of this show.

I've been asking myself "how the fuck are they going to make 5 TV seasons out of 900 pages of story (between 3 novels combined)." Now I see, because this shit was totally off the radar.

i think that show and alot of zombie entertainment is an anaology for human nature.

in the walking dead if ppl just worked together and treated each other right they could handle the zombies easily. Imagine if the Governor wasnt crazy and was able to get along with Rick. You could potentially have 2 thriving communities and re-emergence of civilization. But every person is a threat or perceived threat.

ppl on the show are basically crabs in a bucket

Its difficult to criticize this show because it is so damn good.

Its like they STUDIED The Walking Dead and tried to correct all the weaknesses

The ONLY thing that you could say the show is WEAK on is the female characters...

But that chick in black just Running out the gas station may have actually fixed that.

The pacing is INCREDIBLE...

Plot, character development Special effects production value sound effects music stunts action scenes.

The symbolized and social commentary is amazing..

DAMN!!!

the fact that NO CHARACTER is ever safe is making it must watch TV.

And every death is EARNED even though I didn't like the way the Haitian women were depicted? The episode itself and the surprise ending was

I don't even want to try to predict whats going to happen its just sit back and enjoy the ride.

friends of mine that don't watch The Walking Dead cause they don't like horror movies i always explain this to them. it's not zombies all day it's more about how would you react in an apocalyptic situation, even w/ out zombies. will you help ppl or will you be all out for yourself. the Twilight Zone had a few episodes like that.

I feel you, but by that point the apocalypse had already happened.

I want to know how shit got that bad that quickly in the first place. Especially in a state like Georgia where everyone and their grandmother is armed to the teeth,

We also have a culture where everybody has 24/7 news access. Everyone would have known about the dead coming to life, how to kill them and that a bite is a death sentence from day one. Give people a couple days to sink in and accept it and this pandemic would have been squashed within a week.

my only criticism w/ this show is there are too many silly "that wouldn't happen in real life" situations. like the doctors constantly thinking there's a cure & wanting Jim to "hang in there" while they get him to a hospital. i understand he's your friend but there's no time to mess around. also last week, when that vampire SWAT team was looking over the kids chit chatting w/ them. i can't see any mother handing over children like "go ahead, it's ok".

^^^

the continuing doubt in the face of all this death blood and carnage IS irritating.

But I'll say this...just look at CURRENT events.

People DO try to rationale or just plain REFUSE to accept the reality of the situation and I think the writers are showing that.

And some people NEED to believe in the matrix to survive (the dude who stayed locked in his bulletproof box at the gas station (similar to the Real Time with Bill Maher skit about republicans in a box of denial)

Who could see the recent vids of police murdering Black men and NOT say there is a problem.

I think this is just a modern version of the Mulder/Scully thing.

They made the latina check do that I can't deal bullshit but brought her back to reality mad quick.

The Haitian daughter symbolized the so-called modernized woman she has lost the connections to her island roots and doesn't believe in anything outside her current reality (she died) however her mother still believed in the unexplained and evil and faith...so she survived.

But I DO hope they tone it down a little because at this point it is a little absurd but then again I have been saying that about some shit going on lately just outside my door so...

rat catcher is a G

would have him on my team any day

I bout died at that scene. He looked at the premium at the pump and was like "eh, why not?" LMAO!!!!

I wonder if the blonde chick is gonna admit to them that she's behind the internet outage.

one thing that seperates this show from the walking dead is it doesnt take itself to seriously
there are moments every episode that make me laugh out loud

This show, when it gets going, is gonna make the characters seem way more hopeless than The Walking Dead EVER could have.

A lot of people say that people (especially the women) reaction isn't realistic, think about it: if you had somebody come up to you and say that they just saw a vampire you might laugh their asses off, too. Seeing is believing, and once you believe you doubt no more. I bet that fake Haitian daughter wasn't questioning shit when they were stuck in the wine cellar.

We are programmed to believe that certain shit ain't real, no matter what we hear, read in books or hear from someone who has seen it. Shit, when I told folks that I had seen a UFO more than half the folks I told had reactions just like that lady. So, I would say it is believable. People are stupid.

Bruh but they not saying Vampires or nothing Close to that.

The Fucking Head Of the CDC Tells you its a fucking Virus going to take over NewYork, You might want to take him serious.

Like I said before, You aint see your son in years and he tells you something big is about to happen you need to leave, dont be an asshole and think he is full of shit.

SN i never understand how you all are comparing walking dead which would be zombies to The strain which would be vampires.

The Vampires on the strain appear to be zombies but they function like predators that are lead by the alpha.

The walking dead is vastly different the fact that the zombies are mindless and the only real danger is other human beings.

Two very different scenarios.

it's been a minute since i've listened to the We're Alive podcast but i'm gonna definitely knock it out now (it's finished now anyway, right)? so far, The Strain reminds me of that podcast. some vampires (We're Alive zombies) are smarter than others, these vampires (WAZ) are a lot more mobile & agile & there is a "master" in both.

Love this episode. About to start in on the books now.

And nobody is going to point out the fact that the credit card machine/phones weren't working inside the store, but Fet was able to use a credit card at the pump with no problem....with no primary power..just a back-up generator? OK

Bruh won't e'en gon' bullshit. Just went ahead and gunned buddy down so as to not have to worry about him later when ge surely turns.

I thought that was strange. Like they went off script just for the sake of making a joke and hoping you didn't notice that it dind't mesh with the storyline. Kinda like Avengers. When they reveal that Bruce Banner can now change into the Hulk at will. I was like "uuuuuhhhhh:confused:....fuck it. Just go with it."

You just can't help yourself. :smh:
How so? Did I spoil anything? No! So sit the fuck down!

What little I do know about The Strain is uncertain for the TV show that's for sure. That last episode as well as a lot of other shit so far is vastly NEW and DIFFERENT.

Dude, seriously only a complete idiot would have failed to glean from your original post that you may have knowledge about the show from having read the books so maybe you need to it the fuck down yourself and top being such a nerdy smartass.

ALL those tired of the female doc. Nora Martinezand is ready to see her whiny ass merked say AYE(even tho i know it wont happen), im about ready to shoot her myself , how much more shit needs to happen in front her before she adjusts her attitude and get with the fucking program.

Also i wouldve called both them hypocritical docs out, they all soft on killing their friend but no such qualms about killing the boyfriend. After that it woulda been never mention shit again just fucking kill or go find a damn cure and STFU.
