Sony pulls Spider-Man out of MCU!!!!

I didnt really consider the villain origins. Mysterio and Vulture come from Stark..how sony gonna fix that?

They are not thinking. They think the fans will forget. They are going to cramped a bunch of shit in and out will probably fail.

Marvel set them up. No Skrulls, no JJ, they are going to bring in Gwen Stacy, carnage and Venom. Change the back story of the Vulture.

Sad

That shit makes me sad...what a waste. Hope Sony bombs hard. I'll watch em, but IN NO WAY will I pay

Just watched the movie. MARVEL was definitely feeling themselves. They put the spiderman character on a pedestal to make him the face of the new MCU without securing him long term.

yeah -this report is bullshit

every blog reporting this is citing another blog as its source - its a circular firing squad

I swear a REAL journalistic endeavor in this media climate covering this type of news would clean up.

Can ANY of these outlets REALLY be trusted?

@fonzerrillii do you guys REALLY think Sony and Marvel will make a deal before the END of this year?

The X-Men joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still just a distant hope for fans, and Spider-Man’s future in the MCU is in major jeopardy right now in the wake of the Sony-Marvel rift. But it turns out that there were plans to include both, at least in passing reference, way back at the very beginning of the MCU.

On Saturday night at the 45th annual Saturn Awards, after being presented with the first-ever Stan Lee World Builder Award, Kevin Feige revealed a deleted post-credits scene from Iron Man that shows Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) referencing both Spider-Man and the X-Men without actually naming the (at the time) non-Marvel properties.

“We pulled some things out of that vault that we said, ‘We’ll never show this to anybody, put it away,'” Feige says about the deleted scene. “We’re bringing them out, we’re putting them on this disc, and I’m about to show you a deleted scene that has never been seen by anyone before right now.”

The clip begins when Fury approaches Tony Stark (Robert Downy Jr.) at the very end of Iron Man, the first MCU film, talking about the Avenger Initiative — just like in the actual post-credits scene that made it onto the movie. But this alternate scene sees Fury talk about “gamma accidents, radioactive bug bites and assorted mutants” before complaining about how he has to “deal with a spoiled brat who doesn’t play well with others and wants to keep all his toys to himself,” aka Tony.

It’s a short scene but one with huge implications. Despite not having access to the properties of Spider-Man and the X-Men back in 2008 when Iron Man was released, Marvel clearly still wanted those characters to exist in the MCU. Fast forward to more than a decade and a full slate of films later and the X-Men still haven’t been able to be included in the MCU, and Spider-Man joined for five films only to be tragically yanked away due to corporate red tape after Spider-Man: Far From Home. This doesn’t help answer any of the complicated questions surrounding either property’s potential future in the MCU, but it does reveal that there were attempts to include them through references at the very beginning. That’s something!

Feige also revealed that this scene along with much more teased material will be released as bonus features on the upcoming Infinity Saga DVD box set, so it sounds like there’s a lot more where this came from. What else has the MCU been hiding all these years? We’re about to find out.

Russos Say Sony Is Making A “Tragic” Mistake Trying To Replicate The MCU With The Spider-Verse

With the writing looking like it’s on the wall—the divorce about as final as it can be at this point—people are still mourning the split between Sony’s “Spider-Man” and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. By the sound of all the various reports over the last few weeks, Sony, and even Tom Holland still believe they can make a robust Spider-verse on their own and Marvel is terribly occupied given that they have a whole slate of Disney+ Marvel limited series to add to their workload. It might break the heart of fans, but it’s almost the perfect time to split: Tony Stark is no longer part of the MCU and thus Peter Parker—for all that he’s indebted physically or otherwise to his mentor—has no real connections left to the MCU. With Tony gone, Sony can quickly phase out Happy Hogan, and that’s really the last Marvel vestige aside from the legacy of the suit (and who knows how they handle that).

But people are still discussing and pouring over it. The “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo—the filmmakers who are principally responsible for bringing Spider-Man into the MCU during “Captain America: Civil War,” were recently in up north at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting “Mosul,” the latest film from their production company/mini-studio AGBO, along with Marvel screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus.

The duo reiterated recent comments given to the press: given how hard it was to get Spidey into the MCU in the first place, they’re not at all surprised, it’s all fallen apart.

“It was so difficult to get him into ‘Civil War.’ It was an extremely long and hard process,” Anthony Russo told the Toronto Sun recently. “But we were driven to help make it happen. But (Marvel Studios President) Kevin Feige pulled it off, somehow. Disney and all the good people at Sony found a way to make it work, and it lasted a few films. We had a wonderful experience with that, and I think audiences really appreciated that marriage. But we know how hard that marriage was to make in the first place, so the fact that the marriage fell apart isn’t really that surprising to me and Joe.”

Joe Russo continued, saying that the Marvel/Sony union was difficult and felt impermanent while it was happening, adding he thinks ultimately Sony is making a big mistake.

“It was a tenuous, fraught union throughout the whole process,” he said. “But, I will say, stepping back and trying to be objective as possible, that I think it’s a tragic mistake on Sony’s part to think that they can replicate Kevin’s penchant for telling incredible stories and the amazing success he has had over the years. I think it’s a big mistake.”

Well, you know where the Russos allegiances lie, though considering they’ve made four movies with Marvel, that makes a lot of sense. Indeed, Spider-Man was down to the wire originally, and Markus and McFeely had written alternative drafts were Tony Stark had recruited Ant-Man to his ‘Civil War’ team in case the deal fell apart. Well, it finally did, none of the filmmakers seem surprised, and everyone thinks Sony is going to have a difficult time trying to duplicate Marvel’s success. First off, they have way fewer characters to work with, even fewer heroes and they don’t have Kevin Feige. But all signs point to a healthy Sony—“Venom” and “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” as a big success—and the studio going it alone, at least for now.

If Sony is offering larger shares of Spidey + Venom...its cuz they know they fucked up and cant write Spider Man out of the pivotal point in the MCU that FFH placed him in and definitely know they cant make another Venom movie work without MCU momentum to piggy back off of. I would bet dollars to donuts that the bulk of the Venom profits came from 9-14 yr olds who have no context but went to see it because of the momentum, because everyone I know who has any context for the characters thought it was trash. Sony knows they are fucked long term if they go it alone. They may be able to rack in another 300-400mil off the sequel just by putting Spidey next to Venom....but they know thats pennies next to what they can make off a long term deal with a cohesive MCU story line, even with lower percentage points on the deal. Math is the next most undefeated force next to time, and neither are on Sony's side minus Disney/Marvel.

Yeah, I figured they'd work something out. Too much money at stake.

Plus Sony had a shit-load of Marvel loose ends after FFH.

Hell, I watched FFH the other day and thought I was watching a SHIELD movie there were so many Marvel characters and references.

PS - I'd still fuck Zendaya into bad health.

thanks -
based of the words he used - thats still being worked out

my guess is that in the end outside of Peter Parker cameos - the fully suited Spidey we see in the MCU will only appear in Sony Spider Verse film - if Feige / Marvel work on the production
If that doesn't work out - then they will part ways after 2021

If it was anyone else other than Amy Pascale and Tom Rothman I would say this deal does give Sony a chance to build out their slate - but those 2 are woefully incompetent

Black Panther will be pushed back.

They want Spider-Man to take over the mantle when it SHOULD be Black Panther and T’Challa and then everybody moves around them.

Now they want all the characters to move around spider man, I see why Amy wasn’t tryna fuck with them unless they pay that ticket.
Amy got Kevin by the balls.
