Dramatic new body camera footage showing Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Houston, Texas, opening fire through a window while responding to a reported break-in has been released.

In the new body-worn video of the incident released by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), which spans about four minutes in total, two officers can be seen approaching an upstairs Houston apartment in the early hours of Feb. 3. After encountering a window screen out of its window frame and set aside in front of the apartment, an officer can be seen knocking on the door before announcing, "Sheriff's Office."

The video shows that she then moves away from the door, joining the other officer at the top of the staircase.

A car alarm then begins to go off, and one of the officers says something to the other, and the two begin shooting after one of the officers allegedly spots that the person inside had a gun, according to HCSO. One of the officers re-loads their weapon and continues firing before the two retreat downstairs and notify colleagues through their radios that shots were fired. A gun was recovered near the apartment entryway after the shooting, according to HCSO.

The video contains a narrative of events from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that reads that at 2:10 a.m. local time on Feb. 3, 2024, deputies responded to a call at 90 Uvalde Road. "The caller reported someone was inside her apartment," the text on the video says.

At 2:14 a.m., the first officer responded, met the caller and a maintenance worker and "made sure the apartment was safe and secure," per the video text.

A second deputy arrived to assist when a "resident of a neighboring apartment approached the deputy and reported that someone had broken into another nearby second-floor apartment," according to text captions on the video.

According to the Sheriff’s Office account in the video, the deputies went to investigate the reported break-in and saw "the front window screen removed, broken glass and the blinds raised, near the front door." The deputies knocked, and one of them announced their presence. It is unclear from the body camera footage where the glass was broken.

The woman, who was later identified as Eboni Pouncy, a friend of the woman who lived in the apartment, sustained a total of five gunshot wounds to the leg and torso, according to her attorney, Ben Crump, who reacted to the release of the video on Monday, calling it "evidence of the unnecessary and excessive force."

None of Pouncy’s vital organs were struck by bullets, but the long-term effects of her injuries are yet to be determined, according to Crump. He told ABC News that Pouncy is traumatized by the incident.

Pouncy's friend, who was with her the previous night, said that she had forgotten her keys to her apartment. The friend told Pouncy to break the window so they could enter, she said at a news conference last Friday.

The two had been in the house for about 20 minutes when they heard a loud banging on the door, Pouncy’s friend said. Pouncy grabbed her gun and went to the door before she was fired upon by the deputies, according to the friend.

On Monday, Crump said Pouncy, 28, was the woman struck by the bullets. He told ABC News she was shot five times in the torso and legs and is lucky to still be alive today.

"This newly-released body cam footage is evidence of the unnecessary and excessive force used against her," Crump told ABC News in a statement Monday. "We demand that the deputies involved be immediately held accountable for the terrible injuries."

"The shooting of Eboni Pouncy should have never happened," Crump’s statement continued. "The video shows the deputies that responded to Eboni’s friend’s house shot first and asked questions later. It is concerningly clear by the video and Eboni’s injuries that deputies were not justified in shooting her five times."

Since the incident, both officers have been placed on administrative leave, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s department and local district attorney are investigating, and the case is being referred to a grand jury.

In cell phone video acquired by KTRK, an ABC-owned station, officers can be heard directing Pouncy's friend to come down the stairs after the shooting.

"I live here. Please don't shoot," she responds before officers order her to the ground and handcuff her.

Pouncy was taken to the hospital by paramedics for her injuries.

A transgender woman murdered two handymen before feeding their bodies to her pet pigs and is now serving time for her gruesome crime in a women's prison.
Susan Monica, born Steven Buchanan, dismembered two handymen that he hired to work on his farm in Oregon and let his pigs eat their corpses.
Family members of the victims strongly believe that Monica subjected others to her cruel and grotesque killings, and Monica herself referred to '17 other' victims in court.
Despite being a biological male, Monica has been serving her 50-year sentence in a woman's correctional facility since 2015 - with little mention of her transgender status in news coverage or legal documents.
The Oregon state Department of Corrections lists the murderer under her feminine name, Susan Monica, and is described as being 'female' in the official documents.

The murderer, who previously fought in the Vietnam war and is a U.S. Navy veteran, bought her 20-acre farm in Oregon in 1991.
Monica hired her first known victim, 59-year-old Stephen Delicino, to work on the farm in 2012.
There was allegedly a confrontation between the pair after Delicino was supposedly found to be in possession of Monica's gun.
She claims that during the altercation the gun misfired and struck Delicino in the back of the head, leaving him dead.
Police later found the remains of Delicino's dead body in plastic bags on Monica's property.

Just one year later - Monica struck again, this time choosing 56-year-old Robert Haney to work as a handyman at the farm.
Haney's children became extremely worried after they hadn't heard from their father for over two months so they filed a missing persons report with Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
His son Jesse even visited Monica's farm on January 1, 2014 to ask where his father was and retrieve his dad's belongings.
'We hadn't seen or heard from my dad for two months. We just all started to panic,' Jesse said in a documentary about the killings.
'His leather jacket was there. His dog was still running around and all his tools were there… It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up,' Jesse revealed in Oxygen.
Officers questioned Monica about Haney's whereabouts and she told them the employee had quit and left the farm.
Concerns were raised after evidence was found that Haney used Monica's EBT card at a Walmart the day after she claimed the handyman had left.
This prompted law enforcement to search Monica's farm and they were appalled at the state of the property - which had piles of garbage, rotting food and industrial waste.
'I would describe that property as eerie. There was a very strong order there, a lot of decay,' former Jackson County Sheriff's Detective Julie Denney told Oxygen.
When investigators found a human leg on the property - they brought Monica in for questioning and she told them a disturbing tale about putting Haney 'out of his misery.'
Monica said that she stumbled upon her pigs in a 'feeding frenzy' as they feasted on Haney's intestines while his guts were 'all over the place.'
'He was being eaten, what I believed to be, alive,' Monica told investigators.
'I put him out of his misery. I do that for my animals and this was the first time I did it for a human being and I knew it was wrong but if it were one of my pigs suffering out there, I would have done the same thing,' Monica said.

The top doctor for CBP tried to order fentanyl lollipops for a helicopter mission in New York, whistleblowers say

The whistleblowers also allege Dr. Alexander Eastman was already under investigation for trying to procure narcotics for a friend who worked as a chopper pilot for the border agency.

The whistleblowers said Dr. Alexander Eastman’s staff raised questions about why he would need to order fentanyl lollipops to take with him, and he answered that it was part of his duties to make sure that any injured CBP operators were cared for, making the argument that the lollipops would be necessary for pain management should an emergency occur.

For the first time since her arrest, Ruby Franke and her attorney have broken their silence regarding her criminal charges. The popular YouTube celebrity who is charged with several counts of aggravated child abuse said through her attorney LaMar Winward on Saturday that she will plead guilty to the charges against her Monday at the Washington County 5th District Court in Utah.
Franke's business partner and mental health counselor Jodi Hildebrant also faces six counts of aggravated child abuse. Both women were arrested Aug. 30 after Franke's 12-year-old son, who had been staying at Hildebrandt's house, climbed out of a window, ran to a neighbor's home and told the neighbor that he had been abused.
Hildebrant has not yet entered a plea to the charges.
The Santa Clara-Ivins police in Utah said in a statement that the child "appeared to be emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around the extremities." Upon searching the home, police said they found Franke's 10-year-old daughter in the same condition. All of Franke's four minor children were placed into state care, according to police.
Search warrants obtained by ABC News allege Hildebrandt used cayenne pepper and honey to dress the children's wounds.

Both women have remained in custody since their arrest.
In his statement, Winward described Franke as a devoted mother committed to constant improvement. He said his client was a victim of "manipulation."
"Initially, Ms. Franke believed that Jodi Hildebrant had the insight to offer a path to continual improvement. Ms. Hildebrant took advantage of this quest and twisted it into something heinous.  Over an extended period, Ms. Hildebrant systematically isolated Ruby Franke from her extended family, older children, and her husband, Kevin Franke. This prolonged isolation resulted in Ms. Franke being subjected to a distorted sense of morality."

Ruby Franke's attorneys say that since her incarceration, she has been "actively engaged in an introspection that has allowed her to reset her moral compass and understand the full weight of her actions." She is "committed to taking responsibility for the part she played" in the events that led to her arrest, and she is already communicating with family members "to mend relationships and contribute positively to the healing journey of her family," according to the statement from her attorneys.
Franke and Hildebrandt were business partners in ConneXions, an organization that promises to "encourage healing and facilitate personal growth through impeccable honesty, rigorous personal responsibility and vulnerable humility," according to its website. Hildebrandt is listed as the founder while Franke is listed as "a certified mental fitness trainer." Franke also operated "8 Passengers," a now defunct YouTube channel that offered parenting advice.

Attorneys for Hildebrandt and Kevin Franke did not immediately respond to ABC News' requests for comment.
Kevin Franke filed a petition for divorce last month. In an interview with "Good Morning America" in September, an attorney for the husband said he had been separated from his wife for over a year and had no knowledge of the alleged abuse.

The Republican-red star of The View's Hot Topics table has a steamy idea for a warm facial routine.
After a wild day of debate that, within the first 10 minutes of Friday's episode saw Sunny Hostin assert that an embryo is a baby and Sara Haines subsequently "check" her, conservative seat holder Alyssa Farah Griffin tried to lighten the mood with a frothy quip during a discussion about the Alabama Supreme Court's recent ruling that frozen embryos could potentially be considered children under state law.

After taking a few milliseconds to process what she — the table's resident wholesome Swiftie — just said on national television, Griffin quickly threw her hands up from the table and apologized... to America, to her cohosts, to Whoopi Goldberg watching from home, and, most importantly, to herself: "Sorry," she said. "That's gross."
Griffin's fellow panelists appeared to be unfazed by the stunning statement — outside of 81-year-old Joy Behar, who famously met her husband at a nudist colony and quietly giggled while looking at Griffin from across the table.
