A Michigan counselor who had sex with one of her clients has been sentenced to five years’ probation, PEOPLE confirms.

Rachele Johnson, 26, pleaded guilty last week to misconduct in office, furnishing a cell phone to a prisoner and two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Authorities say Johnson, who was a counselor at the House of Commons, a court-mandated treatment center, had sex with a man who was being treated at the facility in 2017.

Ingham County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Lisa McCormick said that because Johnson worked as a mental health employee for the county, her clients could not give consent, the Lansing State Journal reports.

Johnson will also have to register as a sex offender and enter therapy as part of her sentence, according to the paper.

The judge in her case said no evidence showed that she used her position to get sex but, nonetheless, what she did was detrimental to the facility’s mission, the State Journal reports.

Johnson had also been charged with harboring escapees, providing contraband in prison and six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct — which included an accusation involving a second man — but those charges were dropped, according to prosecutors.

During an earlier preliminary hearing, the victim testified that he spent time with Johnson in the property room, which had no video surveillance, and Johnson lied about a doctor’s appointment so they could spend time outside of the facility together.

Johnson’s defense attorney could not be reached for comment on Monday

A 38-year-old Quebec man has been found guilty for starting a series of devastating forest fires - which lead to hectares worth of damage and displaced hundreds.

Brian Paré has plead guilty to staring 14 forest fires, including fires in Chapais and Lake Cavan, at a courthouse in Chibougamau in Quebec.

Paré, who has been detained since his arrest, said little during the hearing, only responding 'yes' to a series of questions from the judge.

He had been charged 13 counts of arson and one count of arson with disregard for human life.

215 people have been buried behind a Mississippi jail since 2016, attorney says

The issue became national news last fall, when several families said they had waited months to hear about a missing loved one — only to learn their relative had died months earlier, and were buried in a grassy field, their graves marked only by a metal tag bearing a number. Their attorney, civil rights lawyer Ben Crump, says he believes many more people were buried under similar circumstances.

"We know, based on the records from the coroner's office, that, since 2016, in the last eight years, we can identify 215 individuals that were buried behind that jail, and their families have not been notified," Crump told PBS NewsHour this week.

"DEXTER WADE WAS BURIED IN AN UNMARKED GRAVE WITH HIS WALLET WITH HIS STATE ID &CREDIT CARD STILL IN HIS POCKET. There is NO excuse for cops telling his mother that they didn't know where her son was, except for manslaughter and a police-orchestrated coverup. "

Judith Sheindlin, better known as reality TV’s Judge Judy, is set to stump for Nikki Haley in New Hampshire ahead of that state’s influential primary election, according to the former South Carolina governor’s campaign. Sheindlin will appear alongside Haley on Sunday, two days before the primary, as the Republican presidential candidate attempts to win over voters after a disappointing third-place finish in Iowa. In an op-ed for the Daily Mail, Sheindlin praised Haley’s “command of the international stage” and said that her experience, combined with her relative youth (Haley is 51; Trump and Biden are 77 and 81, respectively) made her the best pick. “Neither Biden nor Trump would know a Houthi from a salami unless someone whispered in their ear or spelled it out from them on a Teleprompter,” she said.
