Man Who Bludgeoned His Wife To Death With A Concrete Block Blames Mayonnaise!

Accused wife killer claims ‘powerful’ group infected him with mayonnaise
ByAmanda Woods

July 26, 2019|7:51am

A deranged California man accused of beating his wife to death with a concrete block told investigators that a “brutal, powerful” group had infected him with mayonnaise, according to a new report.

Nathaniel Robertson, 46, bashed his 57-year-old wife Lidia Robertson to death in their Bakersfield home early on July 11,local station KGET reported.

Her body was found lying on the floor with “major head trauma,” surrounded by a large pool of blood, with the block lying next to her, according to the report.

Robertson told detectives in a confusing, rambling statement that he bludgeoned his wife to “give her compassion and mercy” as “the alignments were not in place to protect her,” according to new court documents obtained by the station.

He also claimed that he’d been infected with mayonnaise by a group of people he only identified as “they.”

On top of that, he told investigators there was something inside him releasing information about the Revolutionary War, according to the report.

Asked if he used drugs, Robertson told detectives that he used “ice” — a nickname for methamphetamine — to help him breathe, the outlet reported.

He’d also fessed up to ingesting “crystal,” which authorities took to mean crystal meth, the court documents say.

He told authorities that he loved his wife, and called her his best friend.

“I didn’t want it to be a painful thing,” Robertson said, according to the report. “I didn’t want to hit her a bunch of times, I wanted to end it, I didn’t want her suffering.”

Robertson was arrested at Riverview Park nearby where he told deputies he’d been looking around for a place to kill himself.

He has pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge in the case, and is being held on $1 million bail.

Robertson suffered from mental illness and abused drugs — and the couple remained married only for financial reasons, a neighbor told investigators, according to the station.

A Newport Beach, Calif., millionaire who allegedly murdered his wife in 2012 and failed to appear at a 2015 court hearing has been picked up in Mexico, according to reports.

Wealthy real estate investor Peter Chadwick was apprehended Sunday and handed over to U.S. authorities, sources close to the investigation told KNBC Los Angeles.

Chadwick, then 48, was charged in the October 2012 strangulation after the body of 46-year-old Quee Chadwick turned up in a trash bin at a gas station in San Diego County, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Her husband had told the U.S. Marshals Service that the handyman did it, after first kidnapping her. He also alleged that the murderer had forced him to drive with her body to the border, but later recanted.

But he was arrested after signs of foul play were found in their home. Police had gone to the house after the couple did not arrive to pick up their children from school and a neighbor alerted them the couple was missing, the Los Angeles Times said.

Neighbor heard scream from homicide victim's home »
A neighbor told a local newspaper at the time that she thought she had heard Quee Chadwick scream early in the morning the last day she’d been heard from.

Chadwick had disappeared after his release on $1.5 million bond pending trial, KNBC said, skipping his January 2015 court hearing.

A naturalized U.S. citizen since 1991 but originally from the UK, Chadwick surrendered both countries’ passports and was purportedly going to live with his father in Santa Barbara, according to the Associated Press. But authorities discovered his bank accounts had been scoured clean of millions, AP said, and his home filled with books on how to switch identities.

Since then, Chadwick, now 54, has been on the U.S. Marshal’s most-wanted list. The hunt had even morphed into a six-episode true crime podcast written and produced last year by the Newport Beach, California police department, AP said.

The multimillionaire was arrested late Sunday and delivered to California early Monday, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times.

Riley Marcus Schwarz Pasco Sheriff's Office

A Florida state trooper has been arrested for having sex with a girl starting from when she was just 14 — at least once in the back of his car parked in a public gas station, according to authorities.

Highway Patrol trooper Riley Marcus Schwarz, 23, was busted after the girl’s parents found her journal detailing the numerous times the officer had sex with the youngster, according to the Tampa Bay Reporter.

“The contents of the journal indicate that the relationship was sexual in nature and that they had been talking to each other since Sept. 23, 2018,” the arrest affidavit says, according to the paper.

They started having sex in October 2018 when the girl was just 14, the affidavit states.
Schwarz admitted to the having intercourse with the girl “six to eight times,” according to the affidavit, including once “in the back seat of his vehicle” at a Mobil gas station.

Schwarz has been charged with two felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving sexual activity of a victim 12-15 years of age, according to records, and is being held in Land O Lakes jail on $10,000 bond.

He was immediately fired by the Florida Highway Patrol.

“The alleged actions are reprehensible, and the department continues to cooperate fully with the investigation,” Captain Thomas E. Pikul said, according to the Reporter.

Armed man at Walmart says he was testing right to bear arms
1000.jpeg

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Prosecutors on Friday filed a terrorist threat charge against a 20-year-old man who said he walked into a Missouri store wearing body armor and carrying a loaded rifle and handgun to test whether Walmart would honor his constitutional right to bear arms.

The incident, just days after 22 people were killed during an attack at another Walmart in El Paso, Texas, caused a panic at the Springfield, Missouri, store. Dmitriy Andreychenko walked through filming himself with his cell phone Thursday afternoon.

No shots were fired and Andreychenko was arrested after he was stopped by an armed off-duty firefighter at the store.

“Missouri protects the right of people to open carry a firearm, but that does not allow an individual to act in a reckless and criminal manner endangering other citizens,” Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson said in a statement announcing the charge. Patterson compared the man’s actions to “falsely shouting fire in a theater causing a panic.”

If convicted, the felony charge ofmaking a terrorist threatin the second degree is punishable by up to four years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, according to the prosecutor’s office. The charge means he showed reckless disregard for the risk of causing an evacuation or knowingly caused fear that lives were in danger.

“I wanted to know if Walmart honored the Second Amendment,” a probable cause statement released Friday with the charges quoted Andreychenko as saying.

Andreychenko started to record himself with his phone while he was still in the car parked at Walmart. He got the body armor from the trunk of his car and put it on before grabbing a shopping cart and walking into the store, according to the statement.

Andreychenko said his intention was to buy grocery bags. The rifle had a loaded magazine inserted, but a round was not chambered. A handgun on his right hip was loaded with one round in the chamber.

He said he bought the rifle and body armor because of three recent shootings and a stabbing, and said he wanted to protect himself.

His wife, Angelice Andreychenko, told investigators that she warned him it was not a good idea, adding that he was an immature boy.

His sister, Anastasia Andreychenko, said he had asked her if she would videotape him going into Walmart with a gun and she also told him it was a bad idea, according to the probable cause statement.

The statement does not allege that he pointed the weapons at anyone, although patrons in the surveillance video could be seen in the background running away.

Walmart issued a statement Friday that praised authorities for stopping the incident from escalating. It said Andreychenko is no longer welcome in its stores.

“This was a reckless act designed to scare people, disrupt our business and it put our associates and customers at risk,” said spokeswoman LeMia Jenkins. “We applaud the quick actions of our associates to evacuate customers from our store, and we’re thankful no one was injured.”

Since January 2017, Missouri has not required a permit to openly or conceal carry a firearm for those 19 years or older. Roughly 30 states allow the open carrying of handguns and rifles and shotguns in public without a permit.

San Francisco-based Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence said six states generally prohibit the open carrying of rifles and shotguns — California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and New Jersey — along with the District of Columbia, the law center said.

California, Florida and Illinois also generally ban the open carry of handguns, as do New York and South Carolina.

Springfield is about 165 miles (266 kilometers) south of Kansas City, Missouri.

Black family finds a cop’s KKK application in new house they’re trying to buy

cou-fin.png

In 2009, a white cop killed a black man during a traffic stop. The Judge cleared him of any wrongdoing. Now, in 2019, a black family who was hunting for houses found a KKK application inside one of the houses. The house belongs to that same white cop who killed the black man in 2009.

Rob Mathis and Reyna Mathis were hunting for houses to purchase together.

Mathis and his wife were trying to purchase a house that would give them enough space for their children and grandchildren, and accommodate their future. They thought the five-bedroom home they viewed on Wednesday in Holton, Michichigan, in a small town of fewer than 3000 people would do well, and were ready to make an offer.

Advertisements

But their ideas of the town and the house changed when upon entry, they found a Confederate flag placemat on the dining room table, to which Mathis reacted:

“I thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if this was a Klansman’s house?’”

When the family and their real estate agent went upstairs to check out the bedrooms, Mathis and his son saw a plague that contained a yellow aged document. When they approached it they noticed it was an application to join the KKK.

Mathis wrote in a post on social media:

a1cxqWP.png

Mathis told MLive in an interview:

“It was basically also telling me that he only [wanted] whites only to purchase his home. People who had that type of hate in their heart, he wanted those people.”

Mathis’ wife Reyna said that she and her family collect memorabilia from the Detroit Red Wings and the University of Michigan because they are proud of those affiliations, and can’t understand how he would keep those items if he “doesn’t associate with them” as he said.

Reyna said:

“I was just angry, and my daughter started asking questions and she’s only 12,”

In response to Mathis’ post, the Local government made a public post stating:

“after a social media post was brought to our attention accusing an officer of being in possession of certain items associated with a white supremacy group.”

They stated that he was:

immediately placed on administrative leave, pending a thorough investigation.

The homeowner is identified as a 48-year-old white officer named Charles Anderson.

UG44NiN.png

Anderson happens to be an officer who was pursuing 23-year-old Julius Johnson during a traffic stop on September 23, 2009.

According to the investigation in 2009, Johnson allegedly beat Anderson in the head, which Anderson said prompted him to pull out his gun and shoot Johnson because he was in “Fear for his life”.

Tunisia Phillips, Johnson’s sister, told investigators that she heard her brother beg for his life before Anderson shot him. The prosecutor later cleared Anderson of wrongdoing and then charged his sister Tunisia Phillips with “lying” to police. People took to the streets to protest Johnson’s killing.

Eric Hood, the president of the Muskegon County chapter of the NAACP, has now called for a thorough investigation of Anderson and how he deals with Black people, and other people of color. He stated:

“We want a thorough investigation to be sure that when he goes out there and puts on that uniform and performs his duties as an officer that he’s being fair and impartial,”

There’s no word yet on whether or not the 2009 investigation will be reopened.

Richard Edward Inman, 50, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, has been charged with a second robbery after being convicted in 2017. He is alleged to have committed the most recent on May 24

A former police chief who robbed a bank, is accused of robbing another and was fired for sharing racist posts online claims surgery to remove a brain tumor is responsible for his behavior.

Richard Edward Inman, 50, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, says he has been 'cursed' since the operation in 2009 that he believes left him without judgment or impulse control.

He was asked to resign in 2011, after posting a picture referring to a toilet seat as 'Mexican spaceship' and claiming he could speak 'jive' on his Facebook profile.

He now stands accused of armed robbery, entering a bank with intent to steal and failure to stop for blue lights for incidents on May 24.

Prior to his most recent alleged heist, Inman was serving a 15-year suspended sentence and four years probation for a similar robbery in 2017, the Post Courier reported.

Inman in May 2019 for the alleged armed robbery in Pawleys Island, he is also charged with entering a bank with intent to steal and failure to stop for blue lights

Prosecutors say Inman went into a Bank of America in Pawleys Island where he claimed to be armed and fled with an undisclosed amount.

Later, after a high speed chase between him an officers, he was shot by 'at least two deputies' and was apprehend, according to the Courier.

His injuries were nonthreatening and he remains charged without bail.

Inman was hired as Williamston's police chief in 2009, after 15 years in law enforcement with multiple different agencies.

He had been hired with 'strong recommendations' and the 'bonus of a college degree,' according to former town administrator Phyllis Lollis, reported by the New York Times.

His life changed in 2009 when he woke up in bed with a bloodied lip from a seizure and with no idea how he got there. An MRI diagnosed he was suffering from a meningioma - usually a non-malignant tumor that can grow to a size whereby they push on tissue impairing brain function.

He underwent surgery a stayed in hospital for 10 days before insisting he returned to the force a few weeks later. That's when his troubles started.

Lollis reported that after surgery Inman 'came back... totally different.' However, she put it down to 'a lot of medication.'

Inman says the surgery left him cloudy, easily confused and prone to outbursts.

In 2011, he was asked by the then-mayor Cathel Crout to resign after sharing a picture of a toilet seat with the caption that it was a Mexican spaceship.

He also listed the languages he spoke as 'sarcasm (fluent), Ethiopian, Semitic, Afrikaans and jive,' reported the Times.

According to Lollis, when Inman was asked for his resignation he 'didn't get upset' an 'was very calm.'

She added that when asking him, 'Richard, how could you be so stupid? He said, "I don’t know".'

'I had the surgery, and it’s just like the wheels came off,' Inman said. 'It’s just — every decision I made was bad. And it had an impact on me, you know, on my family life, on my career.'

After he called his wife to say he'd been fired from the force, she said 'What did you expect?'

He said she left him a few days later.

Mack Durham, a councilor who served with Inman, reported that after the surgery his behavior 'became erratic and continued to worsen,' according to the Journal Online.

'His use of racial slurs and his equally offensive comments on social media were totally unlike him prior to the surgery,' Durham told the site.

It's claimed that at the time of the posts that believed the posts were funny, not seeing anything insensitive about them, and added that he treated everyone equally.

His father died in 2015, which sources close to the accused claim worsened his state, the journal wrote.

In 2017, Inman strolled into a local bank without a mask and slid a note to the bank teller. It read: 'This is a robbery. I have a gun. No dye-packs! $2,000 cash. No alarms. Don’t cry out, stay calm.'

After the teller handed him the cash, he told her to 'have a nice day’ and promptly left.

Inman has remained in Georgetown County jail awaiting trial for the past five months.

He still can explain why he robbed the banks.

His mother, Carol Inman, often talks to her son.

'Richard’s life is ruined,' she said. 'It is. But it does not have to ruin ours. ... We want to support and love him and be there anyway we can.'

Deputies: Deltona man arrested in overseas extortion scheme
AR-190819106.jpg&MaxH=200&MaxW=200

Patricio G. Balona @PBalonaNJ
Aug 13, 2019 at 2:03 PM Aug 13, 2019 at 4:27 PM

A Deltona man arrested Tuesday forced a United Kingdom woman into paying him more than $8,000 by threatening to reveal to her husband photos and videos he got from her during an online relationship, deputies said.

Christian George Smith, 37, was charged with threats or extortion and fraudulent use of a credit card. He was in the Volusia County Branch Jail on Tuesday on $25,000 bail.

[READ MORE: Police: Man tries to blackmail DeLand city commissioner]

[READ MORE: EVAC paramedic resigns after nude coworker photo flap in Volusia ambulance service]

Detectives suspect there may be other victims extorted by Smith, said Volusia County sheriff's spokeswoman Laura Williams.

Smith, who met the woman online five years ago and had a platonic relationship with her, threatened to send photos and videos she had sent him to the woman's husband, family and employer, according to Williams.

Smith started threatening the woman and extorting money from her — a total of $8,714 — after the woman, who had considered dating Smith, decided not to pursue a relationship with him because she wanted to work on her marriage instead, Williams said.

Smith began threatening and coercing her into paying him large sums of money in exchange for his silence, including paying his child support debt, investigators said.

A week ago the victim, who lives in South Wales, emailed the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and told detectives that between July 9, 2019, and July 19, 2019, Smith made written threats and recorded video/audio threats, Williams said.

On July 20, the woman told her husband the truth about Smith. That prompted Smith to threaten her husband as well, both in audio recordings and on social media, if she didn’t pay him, Williams said.

Even though she paid Smith, he continued threatening her and contacted the funeral company where she works to file false claims against her, Williams said. Due to those allegations, she was suspended from her job and an internal investigation was started, Williams said.

In addition, on Aug. 3, Smith accessed the woman's credit card and charged more than $2,000 on it, deputies said.

Investigators believe there may be other victims and anyone who may have been involved with Smith is encouraged to contact Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jayson Paul via email at jpaul@vcso.us.

‘Damn Right, I’m a White Nationalist’ Declares Texas GOP Platform Committee Membe
A connected tea party activist says white nationalism has nothing to do with race supremacy — it’s just part of Trump’s “America First” vision.
ray_myers-illo-web-dec_2018-980x600.jpg

At the Texas Republican Party’s 2018 convention, Ray Myers was a part of a select group of activists charged with crafting the platform for the biggest and most influential state party in the country. Myers is also a white nationalist, a fact that he declared last week. “Damn Right, I’m a WHITE NATIONALIST and very Proud of it,” Myers wrote in a Facebook post last Tuesday.
Myers is a 74-year-old activist who has been involved in GOP politics for decades. But“the pivotal political moment came when Obama came on the scene. I knew immediately that America was in trouble,” he said in an Empower Texansprofile. Soon after, hefounded a tea party chapter in Kaufman County, just east of Dallas. More recently, Myers was a member of Ted Cruz’s “Texas Leadership Team” during his presidential campaign, served as a Cruz delegateat the RNC convention and went on to become a Trump volunteer, according to his Facebook profile.

Reached by phone on Friday, Myers insisted that he saw nothing wrong with labeling himself a white nationalist.“I am Anglo and I’m very proud of it, just like black people and brown people are proud of their race. I am a patriot. I am very proud of my country,” Myers said. “And white nationalist, all that means is America first. That’s exactly what that means. That’s where the president’s at. That’s where I’m at and that’s where every solid patriotic American is. It doesn’t have anything to do with race or anything else.”

Myers told theObserverthat he agrees with Trump’s claim that the media “is the enemy of the people,” and said the left is pushing a narrative to make white people ashamed of their heritage and to cast nationalists as racist right-wing Nazis, which he insisted “is the furthest damn thing from the truth ever.”
1399703_642355133716_960037572_o.jpg

“We’re just patriotic Americans, just like anybody else. I’m a tea party guy and I’ve got brown and black and American Indians in our tea parties,” he said.

Did he really not see a problem with embracing the “white nationalist” label, I asked. “Is there anything wrong with saying they’re black and proud? Is there anything wrong with being an American Indian and saying that we’re red and proud?” Myers responded. “I mean, just like Black Lives Matter, white lives matter, too. We’re all in the same melting pot. Now why can’t we say, as Anglos, that we’re proud?”

In June, Myers helped to draft the Texas GOP’splatform, a document that frequently draws attention for pushing the limits of mainstream conservatism.

The 2018 platform includes numerous planks that espouse a nationalistic view, including a demand for using “English, and only English” voting ballots; “the reasonable use of profiling” to defeat radical Islamic terrorists; a condemnation of participation in the United Nations as a threat to U.S. sovereignty; an abolition of the refugee resettlement program; the prohibition of any sort of immigration amnesty; a constitutional amendment defining citizenship “as those born to a citizen of the United States or through naturalization,” among many others.

In addition to his position on the platform committee, Myers’ Facebook profile features photos of him posing with a who’s who of the Texas Republican Party, including Senator Ted Cruz and his father Rafael, Attorney General Ken Paxton, state Senator Bob Hall and Texas Republican Party ChairmanJames Dickey.

Perv priest arrested for stealing $99,000 from parish to pay for sex with men he met on Grindr: police

By Muri Assunção

This booking photo provided by the Chester County District Attorney's Office shows Monsignor Joseph McLoone on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019. The Pennsylvania Roman Catholic priest is accused of stealing nearly $100,000 from his parish and spending it on a beach house and men he met on dating apps. The Chester County District Attorney's Office says McLoone was arrested Wednesday for theft from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Downingtown, Pa. (Chester County District Attorney's Office)

The Rev. Joseph McLoone, a priest at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chester County, Pa., was arrested on Wednesday for stealing nearly $99,000 from his parish, authorities confirmed.

According to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, the 56-year-old resident of Downingtown, Pa, “accomplished this theft by diverting parish funds into a secret account, misappropriating fees charged to parishioners, and other fraudulent activity.”

He’s charged with several counts, including theft and receiving stolen property.

The pastor’s scheme started in 2011, after he took over as the congregation’s pastor.

He opened an account at a TD Bank, which he named “St. Joseph Activity Account.” For the next six years, McLoone allegedly diverted approx $125,000 in donation checks written to the St. Joseph’s Parish into this account.

The source for the money came from donations for the use of church by schools, fees paid to the parish for weddings and funeral services, as well as gifts made out to the parish.

The pastor quickly increased his income by, among other means, doubling his stipend for Masses and weddings he performed, and stealing checks and cash from a yearly celebration named “All Souls,” which totaled nearly $40,000, according to Chester County District Attorney Chief of Staff Charles Gaza.

Some money has been recovered, but McLoone ultimately stole $98,405 from the parish, and “took full advantage of the lack of control over the activity account and used it to fund his personal lifestyle,” Gaza said in a statement.

“His lifestyle included a beach house, travel, dining and spending on adult men with whom he maintained sexual relationships,” he added.

McLoone sent thousands of dollars to men he met on Grindr, Philadelphia Magazine reported. He paid them using online payment methods such as Square and J-Pay.

He has been released on $50,000 bail, and expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 18

A 12-year-old boy dove from a moving vehicle to escape a suspected kidnapper in South Florida, police say.

The child was treated for abrasions to his forehead, arms and hands, while the suspect, 26-year-old Timothy Miller of West Palm Beach, was arrested on charges of kidnapping under the age of 13, resisting an officer with violence and child neglect, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The boy told detectives that he got off his school bus and was walking home in Boynton Beach on Wednesday afternoon when a man driving a white pickup truck pulled over and offered him a ride. The man, later identified as Miller, told the child that he gives rides to kids "all the time" and "not to worry" because he "won't do anything weird," according to the affidavit.

The boy said Miller "seemed nice and had a friendly smile," so he accepted his offer and got in the truck. But then, the child said, Miller started to "act different" and looked at him "strangely," while driving erratically and asking if he had any drugs, according to the affidavit.

The boy said he became frightened and tried to open the passenger door to get out, but Miller told him he couldn't leave and sped up in an effort to prevent him from doing so. Still, the child managed to open the door and jumped from the moving vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Onlookers who saw the boy land on the pavement stopped to help him, while two others went after Miller and followed his truck onto Interstate 95. When Miller got off at an exit, the other drivers used their cars to block in his truck until police arrived. Miller "repeatedly violently resisted officer's attempts to detain him" but was ultimately taken into custody, according to the affidavit.

Miller told detectives that he picked up the boy because he thought he was a teenager and could sell him drugs, according to the affidavit.

"We are grateful to the Good Samaritans who assisted us with taking Miller into custody," the Boynton Police Department said in a Facebook post. "We encourage parents to use this as an opportunity to remind their children about the dangers of getting into a car with someone they do not know."

More than 300 former students are suing or plan to sue Ohio State University for allegedly failing to stop decades of sex abuse by one of its doctors.

The first allegations against Richard Strauss, who killed himself in 2005, came to light last year when dozens of former athletes shared their stories. Since then, the list of accusers continues to grow, and more than half of the 300-plus men are already listed as plaintiffs in federal lawsuits.

The men claim the doctor fondled them during medical exams, groped them, showered among young athletes multiple times a day to watch them naked, and harassed students to go home with him.

The alleged incidents happened from 1979 to 1997, spanning most of Strauss’ career with the university. A 2018 complaint estimates he may have “sexually assaulted, abused, battered, molested, and/or harassed 1,500 to 2,500 male student athletes."

“This is, from our perspective, aside from the Catholic church, one of the biggest sexual misconduct cases in the country,” attorney Michael Wright, whose legal team represents more than 100 Ohio State alumni, told The Associated Press on Friday.

The scandal has drawn comparisons to the Michigan State University case involving convicted sexual predator Larry Nassar, who was accused by hundreds of women and girls. The initial round of plaintiffs against Nassar, who worked as a sports physician at Michigan State, resulted in a $425 million settlement from the university.

The lawsuits against Strauss are also heading toward a settlement, though lawyers have not discussed the details of the discussions.

Ohio State has apologized to the victims and acknowledged its “fundamental failure” to stop the abuse.

The former students accuse the university of turning a blind eye even when they complained to other school officials.

One of the people who have been implicated in the scandal is Rep. Jim Jordan, who worked as an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State from 1987 to 1995. The Republican has denied having any knowledge of Strauss’ alleged abuse.

Kentucky Principal Who Tried to Ban LGBT Books Arrested For Possessing and Distributing Child Pornography
By Matt Keeley On 8/28/19 at 9:57 PM EDT

Phillip Todd Wilson, 54, a Kentucky principal who first came to fame in 2009 for banning books with "homosexual content" from his high school is back in the news. Wilson was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.

Wilson, the principal of the Clark County Area Technology Center, located at the George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, Kentucky, was arrested by state troopers after a complaint from someone at the school. The complainant said they saw Wilson give child pornography to another person.

According to WKYT, troopers said Wilson had about 15 images of child pornography, which resulted in 15 counts of distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor, and another 15 counts of possessing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor. Wilson was assigned a public defender, who entered a not guilty plea at Wilson's arraignment Wednesday.

In a statement, Clark County Public Schools said the district was working with law enforcement and the Kentucky Department of Education.

"The Clark County Public School System is shocked and dismayed over the recent arrest and allegations," the statement said. "The Clark County Public School System remains committed to the safety and security of its teachers and students."

Though the technology center is on a high school campus, it is run by the state's Department of Education. The department also released a statement saying it would cooperate with law enforcement, and that Wilson had been placed on leave, effective immediately.

Wilson is held in the Clark County Detention Center on $25,000 bail.

In 2009, when Wilson was the principal of Montgomery County High School, he came under fire for banning a number of books from the classroom for "homosexual content."

The controversy was over a number of contemporary young-adult books being taught next to classic works like Beowulf. Teacher Risha Mullins used books including Lessons From a Dead Girl by Jo Knowles, Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson, Deadline by Chris Crutcher and Unwind by Neal Shusterman as optional selections for her students, according to a contemporary report by the blog, Kentucky School News and Commentary.

According to a now-deleted blog post by Mullins, archived in part by the blog The "C" Word, the parent of a child who chose to read Lessons From a Dead Girl emailed the school's principal, Wilson, as well as the superintendent, school board and Mullins, calling the book "soft pornography."

The Montgomery County High School administration, backed by the superintendent, banned the books from Mullins' classroom.

"After that email, my curriculum coach told me — in the principal's office, with him present — that she had to beg the superintendent not to shut down the Moo Moo Book Club, and that she quoted him when she said, 'one more problem with books and the club is gone.' I remember asking if he could do that. And I remember her laughing," Mullins wrote at the time.

In the post, Mullins wrote that she later received a letter that every book in her classroom library and on her book club's reading list would be pulled and reviewed. She claims that no official challenge against any of the books had been filed, despite that being the school board's policy for suspending a book.

As word of Wilson's arrest spread, some of the authors of the banned books spoke out.

"Poisonous leaders use their power to protect their evil," Laurie Halse Anderson wrote on Twitter.

Jo Knowles, the author of Lessons From a Dead Girl, the book that started the controversy, shared her thoughts in a Facebook post.

"I was a very new author at the time all this happened and the press coverage was overwhelming. I was horrified by the accusations he and the superintendent made. And heartbroken for the brave teacher, Risha Allen Mullins who stood up for our books and faced so much unfair criticism," Knowles wrote.

"I am having a lot of feelings right now. As I said to some friends last night when I got the news, 'You can't make this shit up,'" she added.
