If you were letdown because you went in there expecting to see Inception then that's your bad. That doesn't mean that everyone has shallow taste for liking what they saw because that's not the case. The movie handled the situation how it would pan out in real life. There isn't miles of dialogue in war...

If you read my review, I said I liked the movie and it was entertaining.

I said story wise (if you stripped it of the action scenes), once you get past the Krypton story in the beginning, the story just is not engaging or deep at all. One dimensional characters, no real suspense, uninteresting dialogue, etc. all stop this from being a great movie.

I'd recommend watching it at the theaters and gave it a 3/5, so I didn't shit on the movie. It's just far from epic.

Dark Knight is based on a comic and told a much better story that this movie. The Avengers movie had a better story than this. Shit even some of the X-Men movies have had much more interesting stories told. Saying "it's a comic book" is no excuse for mediocre story telling.

Action without suspense is less interesting. I mean if you just want to see shit blow up and people get thrown through buildings without sitting at the edge of your seat or having interesting context around it great.

Which makes this a good but not great movie.

I said it was a 3/5 and entertaining...just nothing ground breaking and the story wasn't that interesting outside of Krypton.

No, she wasn't some weak idiot broad who slowed the movie down at every turn like in previous Superman movies. She was strong, determined, and is a welcomed part of the movie. The only thing I didn't like is the fact that she was everywhere...

I was saying it was entertaining and watchable enough, but not the greatest movie ever made. There are other movies based on comic books that are better than this, so there's no reason to call it the greatest unless you're judging greatness purely on visual effects.

Nope. You can tell when they wrote this that they wanted the sole attention of the viewer to be on Superman and his alien-ness. They didn't even really even mention Smallville or Metropolis...they wrote it kinda as if none of the comic books, previous movies, or other superheroes existed. You're in Clark's shoes the entire time...everything is brand new...you're kinda figuring out everything as Clark does. The way the film plays out though I know it'll be an easy tie in later on...this definitely isn't a Superman that'll be out of place in Gotham City.

The special effects are top notch, no doubt. The action is good. The pacing is not.
We see more of Krypton in this movie than probably any other Superman story. They worked that out well.
I'm not going to spoil it but when you look outside Krypton and Kryptonians in the movie is where it falls apart.

Perry White - one dimensional character. Underusage of Fishburne.
NO CHEMISTRY WHATSOEVER between Lois and Kal-El (which is who he was most of the movie). Then allofasudden....WUB.
Is Zach Snyder gay or something? Its like he had a 10 year old's understanding of M/F relationships, if any at all.
The appearance of Lois EVERYWHERE was annoying as fuck. Somehow she developed super speed or teleportation powers.
One minute Supes can fight; the next, he can't. Then he can again.
I'mma stop right there. Sorry. I could shit on this movie all day long but it was entertaining. It did not suck like the previous Superman flicks. Just because its the first one that didn't doesn't make it brilliant. Its just better than Superman Returns.

Visually, it was an awesome movie.

Story-wise, other than kyrpton...meh.

3/5... Decent summer blockbuster, definitely not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination unless you just have shallow tastes and like to see graphics. The movie lacked suspense, built no emotional attachment to the main characters...it was a pretty hollow movie outside of the beginning. Superman himself isn't the most interesting superhero, so that didn't help.

Overall tho, it was entertaining and I'd recommend watching it at the theaters for the visuals. It was a good but not great movie.

Spiderman and Mary Jane Watson are probably second but Lois & Clark are epic.

It is a Superman movie with good action and bad pacing; it has underdeveloped characters (EVERYBODY THAT WASN'T KRYPTONIAN), and it had a teleporting Lois. A TELEPORTING LOIS!!!!!! SHE WAS EVERYWHERE. Bitch was The Flash (when she got screen time, which was very little for such a long ass movie).
Its entertaining. Its not The Dark Knight. To be honest, if I had to choose this weekend, I might pick This Is The End over Superman depending on my mood. I think I liked it a little better.
You said you can't eliminate parts? Well you can't ignore the story, either. You can't ignore plots and plotholes (like everywhere Lois) and you can't ignore bad chemistry. I liked the movie enough to pay to see it but I didn't think it was the best movie this year.
Its it entertaining? Yes.
Epic? Not really.
Its not about taking out parts but rather acknowledging the movie as a whole. Simple mutha fuckas don't need story but when you see as many movies as I do, action just ain't enough.
