You wanna know what's left?
A completely different movie. That's what's left.
We should all 'mentally erase' all the planet Krypton scenes… and 1 hour of 'top-notch' action… to evaluate the chemistry and dialog between.... Superman & Lois, huh? Or perform a character study between the Jonathan Kent & Kal-El?
And if there is enough suspense written into the script, without action... then it's a good-ass movie, right?
Yeah ok.![]()
Do tell what scenes & characters and story-arcs... that you 'mentally edited out'… before you even decided if it was a good movie, or not.
Enlighten us.
Exactly. Dude asked me "Other than the visuals, what did you like about the movie?". Nigga, without the visuals it's no longer a movie...it's a book on tape. You can't just omit the great parts of the movie to try to prove a point.
Dark Knight is based on a comic and told a much better story that this movie. The Avengers movie had a better story than this. Shit even some of the X-Men movies have had much more interesting stories told. Saying "it's a comic book" is no excuse for mediocre story telling.
Action without suspense is less interesting. I mean if you just want to see shit blow up and people get thrown through buildings without sitting at the edge of your seat or having interesting context around it great.
Which makes this a good but not great movie.
I said it was a 3/5 and entertaining...just nothing ground breaking and the story wasn't that interesting outside of Krypton.
This is the shit I been trying to tell folks. It is the story of how a Superman would work in the real world. How he copes with living as a god amongst men.
And how those same men fear and revile him because he is so different.
Action junkies would ruin Hollywood comic films. These dummies think all comic book based films should be mindless clusterfucks of action back to back with minimal plot. Take ya'll asses to Redbox and rent Suckerpunch then!
The movie showed Superman's father's fear, not the actual fear of humans in any way that wasn't resolved in 30 seconds.
Actually, the movie didn't show this at all. It showed how Superman thought he would be treated, not how he was actually treated.
What you're claiming to be a strength of the movie is actually one of the fuck-ups in the movie, by how it was poorly executed.
For the folks that saw the movie already what did the turn out look like?
Not true. Not to give anything away but when the military was ready to pull the trigger they also targeted Superman as well. Also even after all was said and done the scene with the general and the spy drone showed that he still wasn't trusted.
Technically Jon Kent was right.
For the folks that saw the movie already what did the turn out look like?
I'd argue this point but then we'd get into spoilers. However, beyond the military his father was wrong and military situation was easily solvable.
I'd argue this point but then we'd get into spoilers. However, beyond the military his father was wrong if you completely disregard the underlying military connections to ALL story lines and military situation was easily solvable by the scenes written into the script that, actually solved it.
Does HNIC get a kickback from all of these different "Man of Steel" threads? Even MissMighty is saying "enough!"
Unless you are one of these BGOL's resident CAC and love to see dominant race (white race) heroes.
Black in the film have been reduced to nothing...we only have a colonel and News editor.
Superman's dad is is played by Russell Crowe with a upper class posh British accent, presumably hailing from the planet far distant from that of General Zod, played by Michael Shannon with an American accent...
White people....![]()
You must've been watching a different movie.
Why you didn't choose to 'mentally erase' the red parts listed above?![]()
Alright, Imma keep it simple for simple mutha fuckas.
Who is the most famous superhero couple?
Superman and Lois Lane.
Spiderman and Mary Jane Watson are probably second but Lois & Clark are epic.
They fucked that up. Shit was forced and weak.
You want me to sit here and ignore that shit and call the movie perfect? Fuck that.
It is a Superman movie with good action and bad pacing; it has underdeveloped characters (EVERYBODY THAT WASN'T KRYPTONIAN), and it had a teleporting Lois. A TELEPORTING LOIS!!!!!! SHE WAS EVERYWHERE. Bitch was The Flash (when she got screen time, which was very little for such a long ass movie).
Its entertaining. Its not The Dark Knight. To be honest, if I had to choose this weekend, I might pick This Is The End over Superman depending on my mood. I think I liked it a little better.
You said you can't eliminate parts? Well you can't ignore the story, either. You can't ignore plots and plotholes (like everywhere Lois) and you can't ignore bad chemistry. I liked the movie enough to pay to see it but I didn't think it was the best movie this year.
Its it entertaining? Yes.
Epic? Not really.
Its not about taking out parts but rather acknowledging the movie as a whole. Simple mutha fuckas don't need story but when you see as many movies as I do, action just ain't enough.
