i got a feeling somthing bad is gonna happen at one of the screenings. theres alot of buzz and hype around this movie, alot of folks are gonna go see it, and somewhere out there theres an angry white boy looking to make a name for himself :smh:

Man, this was NOT on par with Star Trek Into Darkness.
There was a lot of action but if you are expecting any more than that, you may be disappointed. It was worth watching but it wasn't amazing by any stretch.

I agree the animated films and cartoons have some really decent storylines and arcs...just one problem

how many big budget films ever use those stories or portrayals shot for shot?

a handful? The Watchmen, 300, Sin City, Kick Ass..

but those are all outside the mainstream of marvel and dc hero stories...of all the dc hero stories the dark knight came the closest and thats after how many batman movies?

for marvel they never did get Ironman quite right story wise, nor the hulk or thor or daredevil or electra (and she and catwoman are the ONLY female ones).

The Avengers was just a great balance of bombastic action and cgi but the STORY?? meh servicable at best.

the question isn't COULD they the material is there...do you REALLY think they WOULD do WW justice??

Star Trek has better chemistry between its characters. That's about it.

Well I just got back...I was skeptical at first. But yes pretty well written, the action was top notch..I would say better than any "superhero movie" yes Any SUPERHERO" and Transformers.(don't say star Trek cause I'm not a fan)

Have never seen action in a superhero movie like this. Remember the final battle in Avengers? Imagine that times 10. The final 45 minutes was fuckin non stop action. Train throwing, city destroying ACTION! And the movie had just enough story to keep my attention between the action scenes. Definite must see movie for comic geeks and action junkies.

THERE IS SOOOO MUCH ACTION... THE TRAILERS DO NOT EVEN DO IT JUSTICE. :smh::rolleyes:

PERFORMANCES:

- Henry Cavill = Solid 'A-' performance as Clark Kent / Kal-El. (He's the real deal. :yes: Best Superman EVER, imo! This is a role he can only get better over time, if they make 2 or 3 more sequels with him)

- Michael Shannon = Solid 'A-' performance as General Zod. (He's not as legendary as Heath Ledger... as far 'bad guys' go... but he is still FEARSOME and COMMITTED. :hmm: A great 'step-up' in his career, for Van Alden :yes:)

- Amy Adams = Gave her a 'B' for her performance as Lois Lane. (She was decent. And everywhere. Agreed. lol)

- Kevin Costner = Gave him a 'A-' for his role as Jonathan Kent. (Very solid piece of work for Costner. :yes: Well done.)

- Laurence Fishburn = Gave him a 'B' also. (Just needed more 'screen time' to truly show his acting chops, imo)

THE SHOWSTOPPERS:
(Not spoilers. :smh: Just my opinion of what gives the biggest 'bang for your buck')

- Zach Snyder = SOLID 'A++'. (His special EFX are awesome this time around... so if you like ACTION... you will NOT be disappointed. At all :smh:)

- Russell Crowe = Solid 'A+' performance as Jor-el. (He bout that Krypton Life!! :yes:)

- Antje Trau = Solid 'A+' performance as Faora. She stole the entire movie, imo.
(This chic was SOO DEADLY..... I would pay cold cash to watch another 2.5 hour Superman movie... WITH HER ALONE :yes:... as the lead villain!!)

- Krypton Technology = In a single word... Incredible. :yes:

- The Soundtrack = In a single word.... Memorable. :yes:

Dunno WTF some of them 'movie critics' was talking about. :dunno:

Well, it's up there. :yes:
It's in my Top 3 or 4 (individual) superhero flicks of all-time, for sure.

It's not better than 'The Dark Knight' with Heath Ledger, imo... but Nolan's fingerprints are undeniably all over it... as far as 'pacing' and 'storytelling' goes.

If Nolan directed it... it would be a whole different movie... but I'm glad he did not... because Superman is a MUCH different hero than Batman.

Batman is a very cunning & calculated brawler / detective....
While Superman is a bulldozing tank, who uses multiple combos of 'super powers' to stampede his foes, or neutralize them.

And that's EXACTLY what he does in this movie. :yes:

Definitely THE BEST Superman flick EVER made. Hands down. :yes:
Highly entertaining. I got my moneys-worth at the box-office.
 
Like i always say: Check out shyt for yourself and be your own critic to say if a flick is great or not....no matter what a bitch paid critic may say...plus...I got better taste than they do anyways!!! :D

You know it's bad when your thinking about going to see it in the afternoon before the wife gets off work and then pretending you didn't see it on your scheduled Saturday to see it for the first time...

Nothing after the credits.

It was good. Action was great, but I thought the pacing was bad, and misplaced in the movie. Not spoiling it for the fam though. I'd even see it again, but it's not in my top 5 hero flicks.

The more I think about it...

I think these professional 'movie critics' who were trashing the movie... NEVER actually read comic books, or watched superman cartoons as a kid... and are simply judging it with 'brokeback lenses'. :cool:

(Maybe this was probably the FIRST TIME they even heard the name 'Kal-El' :rolleyes:)

Because, I cannot believe that any TRUE (hardcore) 'comic book' fan would ever leave this movie at the end, thinking... 'THIS was some ol' bullshit'. :hmm::smh:

If you have somewhat of a 'comic book' imagination...you won't be disappointed.

These are the MOST BRUTAL & DOMINANT set of Kryptonian enemies....

And the MOST POWERFUL VERSION of Superman we have ever seen on film.

As far as 'pacing' and 'direction'... there are very few minor hiccups, but 1 or 2 blatantly bad 'continuity' cuts... but after sooo much action-packed 'awesome'... it would be nitpicky to cling to those moments.

And if you compare the movie (as a whole) to EVERY other Superman movie ever made.... the mistakes are forgivable, imo.

Saw it last night with family!! Awesome fuckin movie! Ur spot on...once the pace picked up, it didn't stop until the end! Wife & kid loved it! We caught the 3d version btw....

Visually, it was an awesome movie.

Story-wise, other than kyrpton...meh.

3/5... Decent summer blockbuster, definitely not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination unless you just have shallow tastes and like to see graphics. The movie lacked suspense, built no emotional attachment to the main characters...it was a pretty hollow movie outside of the beginning. Superman himself isn't the most interesting superhero, so that didn't help.

Overall tho, it was entertaining and I'd recommend watching it at the theaters for the visuals. It was a good but not great movie.

If you were letdown because you went in there expecting to see Inception then that's your bad. That doesn't mean that everyone has shallow taste for liking what they saw because that's not the case. The movie handled the situation how it would pan out in real life. There isn't miles of dialogue in war...

Man, I fucked up last night with my girl talking about "Didn't you see Fast and the Furious 6 with me?" She looked like WTF? I forgot I saw that shit by myself when I was off work one day and have never made mention of it. :lol:
