The chief told us during the written exam about a cat who had a naked woman on his arm got it covered up with a spark plug lol. I would assume that you must keep a low cut like the military. All the candidates who were in the academy had low hair cuts when I took my CPAT.

That is so true....I use to see some brothers they were like the group 'mascot',cause they thought the white folks 'liked' them.

Strangest situation I was ever in.....

Back in the day,I was detailed out to another firehouse for the night.
The house in question was noted for being full of ass-holes.But as usual,I thought fuck em....I am gonna do whatever and go home in the morning.

So I get there,see this brother...I speak,he ignores me.
Now I expected the white guys to not be friendly,but this ass-bucket was 'one of the boys'.The entire tour,the guy did not speak to me...

It was common practice at that time for them to have meals and not invite you...which was fine,I'd just bring a sandwich.
But....their 'pet' was in there eating with them...

The shit kinda got to me...so next day I'm making calls to find out about this guy.Evidently he was known for this behavior,and truly a man without a country/race.Black on the outside...but a broken house-negro inside.

I spent 5/6 years in that district,which was the busiest fire district,per-capita in the country at that time...saw him at many fires,and he never spoke...never even pretended to notice other black folks around him.
Years later I received a call from a buddy of mine,who had just worked with him...asking me the same question,I had asked..

Funny tho...years later I saw the guy at my health plan office.
His face lit up,like he saw an old friend...and he was gonna come over and speak.The look on my face must have told him otherwise...

So yeah...fuck them 'liking you'....like yourself,and make them respect you.
When you get down to it...you think they truly respected their 'pet'?

Everybody is different. Most places are going to the National Registry now. That piece of shit test doesn't have to do nothing with being a good EMT though.

I have been thinking about doing the firefighter thing for a few months now, but the application processes are deterring me.
CPATs that you have to pay for, and 49 interviews, and months and months of waiting, all for a salary that is comparable or lower to cops in most cities (and gettin on a PD is easier)

Plus I'm in New Orleans, and they start out at 19k a year, where NOPD starts at 43k.

Id travel to other cities to test, though. ESP LAFD, since thats where I'm from.
