If you spend BTC, ETH, CRO etc. you may be taxed on the value difference between when you brought the BTC, etc and when it was converted to fiat to make whatever purchase (if the asset is worth more than when you acquired it).
They may attempt to tax the rewards one receives however that becomes a slippery slope for all other rewards programs (think airline miles).
