Coco and Angel had real life issues with each other
Coco went to higher ups about Angel allegedly being back on drugs.
They go way back with each other, Coco was concerned.
(Another rumor is that this was the source of the out of nowhere scene where Coco called Angel selfish and yelled that Angel didn't help Coco when he was drugging)
Letty mother is a producer on the show

Coco is a GREAT actor and I think was an important part of that ensemble. They should have been able to work all that out.
That being said all things considered, his death does spark the story in a lot interesting ways with a lot of long lasting ripples.
But they gonna miss Coco.
