The vast majority of sequels are not as good as the originals.

I don't think anyone thinks sequels should be as good or better than an original story. But I think the expectation is that the sequel should continue the story in a way that makes sense, to either further the lure or explain some shit that wasn't fleshed out in the first. This movie's sequels really didn't do either and it was mostly because they lost their source material and had to make shit up. If you ask that sista that wrote the Martix what a sequel would look like she'd probably tell you something that seemed way better than what we got.

I'm glad I watched the movie first before coming in here and reading the reviews... y'all are harsh!!

It was good not great... 2 is still my favorite... this one was solid though.... my biggest gripe was the fighting seemed like it was in slow motion... I'll watch it again later.... re-watching the sopranos now

I can't say that I share the hated this movie is getting in here. That being said there are some elements in here that left me baffled. More than anything else, I confused a.f. as to what they did with the Morpheus character.

So even after the third movie Morpheus still went down fighting the machine world. Which honestly makes a lot of senses for his character. But someone thought it would be a good idea to download his consciencesness into a sentient computer program. That seems like the absolute last thing in the world that Morpheus or anyone who knew him as a human man would have EVER wanted for him.
neo created him as an algorithm that was a mixed between morpheus and agent smith. that was some bs. that and the machines who work with humans not wanting to be identified by the term machines

Right! The guy who dedicated his entire life to free will and human choice is now going to spend his after life as a computer algorithm.

I can't believe they thought that was a good decision.

So looks like the events of The Matrix Online are canon..

It was a way better improvement.. it definitely feels like a diff movie

I've heard it's better. Still 4 hours long. I have the time to watch it but the base of the story doesn't change. Guessing here. They flesh out some characters like Cyborg. I'd expect so since it's 2 hours longer than the original. The goal doesn't change. Superman is still dead & they need him as they form a team. Steppenwolf is still the end bad guy. Snyder gives his character more of a reason(s) for his motivation (magic mcguffin). They added Darkseid to be the Thanos of this movie. Instead of doing something yourself you send your flunky to go & fail. This teases a sequel. I would expect the movie to be improved with more money & years of criticism for why people felt the original was a failure. To my knowledge, there's gonna be no follow-up. This de-incentivizes me from watching it. It leads to nothing. WW84 didn't reference anything that I noticed. The Flash is a DCEU reboot. The Batman is another version of Batman unrelated to anything before. Cyborg gets nothing but a settlement. Maybe Aquaman 2? But at that point who cares.

Trust it’s a much improved story..with more action and an element of surprise at the end.. the ending is diff as in the final battle and it catches you b4 they switch it up which they actually do.. like it gives a what could of happen if they failed than flips it and shows them pulling out of failure.. that right there showcases a particular individual who you might didn’t care about in the original but now gives you their complete attention

I may give it a chance one day. But right now I'm more apathetic about the movie. I give Snyder & the fans props for pushing WB to get this version finished & released.

Crazy thing is I heard suicide squad has a diff version to that didn’t make the final cut.. I don’t think they pushing it like the Snyder cut but if true I wish they would.. I still haven’t finished watching the first 1 cause I thought it sucked.. surprisingly I seen the 2nd 1 and went in with lowwwwwwww expectations and actually thinking it was ok

This is what happens when you steal original work from someone else (a sistah in this case) and create a movie that was a success.
they stole alright(grant Morrisons the invisibles comics where literally handed to set and costume creators, several story elements including Morpheus, ghost on the shell and several other anime) but not from that crazy bitch lol

Yo I think they release matrix 4 at the wrong time
yup, really wish the waited till after I died.

Zach Synder's Justice League was a great movie. The problem is that you can't just plop down and watch it to get the most out it. At a minimum you have to watch the full Zach Synder trilogy (10 hour investment) and I'd argue that you'd need to watch Wonder Woman before that to get the full effect.

Even if you've seen all of those movies before, watching them again back to back hits different. With BvS, you have to watch the Remastered Ultimate Edition which adds scenes and changes the movie's rating from PG-13 to R.

that poll needs a I knew it was going to be garbage option

I didn't think it would be garbage going in. I thought it would be okay. Only 1 of the previous 3 was good. So I knew going in it would be average. This was easily the worst Matrix movie. I wasn't sure where they were going to go with the story. Most likely nonsensical. But I was hoping the action & kung fu would keep me engaged. It didn't.

I've only liked 2 long gap sequels so far & that was Mad Max Fury Road & Blade Runner 2049. I'm not a Mad Max fan but that movie was entertaining. Simple premise but completely bonkers. Blade Runner 2049 had great cinematography & I liked the mystery element. It was just a well made movie.

Suicide Squad was a bad movie that really needed more time to establish the characters to make you care if their heads blew up. You got 2 1/2 fleshed out characters & fodder. The scale should have been way smaller. Should've been like a black ops squad not a world saving one.

Here's my unpopular opinion about it. I thought Jared Leto's Joker was an interesting take. No it wasn't Heath Ledger's Joker or any previous portrayal. But he was a crime boss with a weird relationship with Harley Quinn. Clearly mentally off & unstable but still charismatic to get people to follow him. I think a 2nd portrayal could have ironed out some of the rough parts. Closer to The Joker to me than Joaquin Phoenix.

also they didn't even attempt to bring laurence fishburne back?
yeah fuck this movie

they actually made morpheus a buck dancing caricature. so i am glad he is not involved.

i am watching it again for a second time. because my disappointment with the first viewing had alot to do with my lofty expectations. now that i am halfway through it for the second time i understand why this movie was made and while it still sucks i understand some of the choices.

once i finish it for the second time i will post my thoughts.

Negro that is like stumping your toe and trying to repeat it on the opposite foot. Good luck...I can't stomach it twice.

my initial thoughts are that the wachowskis had no plans to make another matrix movie. warner brothers now owns the i.p. and offered the wachowskis an opportunity to revisit the franchise. warner brothers told them that this is happening regardless of their involvement. and now we have this clusterfuck. the first scene with the new "smith" and neo pretty much says that verbatim.

it does not have my undivided attention. the action was derivative and pointless. there was nothing revolutionary about the action scenes like the original movies.

i am more so "listening" to the movie while i do other things. and after viewing the movie without the context that it will be great it is giving me insight to why this should have never been made. and why another should not be made.

This shit is stupid af. It's poorly shot and the fight choreography is terrible. The dialog is written for the local actors troop that no one gives a shit about. M3 shot it and M4 remove it from lifesupport.

lol. and you agree with me about the action.

the dialogue was not written for us. it was written as a fuck you to whoever forced them to make the movie.

and i bet that the person's name is tiffany. they harped on that way too much with no context about what that meant.

and to add to this:

they continually kept harping on "forcing a woman to do something" or "controlling a woman."

this reinforces my theory that "lana wachowski," who now identifies as a woman, was forced and controlled to make this movie. they beat us over the head with that shit and the original trilogy had nothing to do with anything like that.

since the wachowskis had gender alteration surgery they are going all out with the tranny agenda and attempting adopt the feminist agenda.

this is literally the tranny feminimatrix.

Yep. That shit was plain as day.

side note.

i am now no longer excited for top gun: maverick.

i have been disappointed too many times this year.

dune and spiderman were pretty much the best tentpole movies of the year.

.....edited to add the snyder cut.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to do another sequel or new series and veer it in the direction of a female Neo.
