If you had a choice, would you send your child to an all black school?

I disagree that it is some "house niggah shit" as you put it. So trying to better my kids situation is "house niggah shit" now

It is simple: Look at your place of work. It is a mixture of races for the most part, not dominated by one race. :smh:

At the end of the day, I want my kids to go to the best school available to them.

It is evident in America today that race is now more than just black, white, or Asian. We are getting more diverse.

That's funny because last I check most companies in America were run, owned and controlled by one race. Whites are placed in positions of power such as CEOs, VPs, Directors, Managers etc. Basically they get hired and promoted because they are white and not because of merit, skill, education or talent.

Black folks at most corporations get put under a microscope and everything they do gets scrutinized to the nth degree.

Could someone please provide the name and location of an all black school (here in the states), that they would send their kids?

Most white people send their children to all white schools, so when do these children get to learn about different cultures and people? I ask this question, because they seem to be doing fine without the intergration or minimal intergration.

I just grabbed a couple of random one s but I can go on all day - stop thinking that black is inferior -

I have more respect for white people who send their children to a black school seeking diversity because whites never seek diversity they expect you to know their culture.

Where did I say blacks are inferior? I asked a simple question and you provided two schools which are schools that has very stringent entry requirements, and not all black schools. If I had a chance to send my kid to any type of school, I would focus on one that has a very strong Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program.

Hell yeah the black mind is under constant attack that they are inferior!
Funny thing is whites don't even consider this thought!

I would send my kid to the best school, with the most diverse population possible. #1 interest being able to compete globally.

I love my folks, but I can teach culture, and knowledge of self, and self confidence at home

The thread should have been done right here.

Diverse in looks or diverse in curriculum?

What is the goal? since when do black kids have problems working in diverse environments?
Isn't diversity something that has to be taught to white people in the workplace and not black people?

Isn't black people the most welcoming people already?

What is more important to you?

Diverse looking classmates or diverse curriculum that is not solely the world view of caucasians?

:confused::confused::confused:

When kids grow up only around one race, Blacks in this case, they end up like most of the dumb niggas on BGOL.

"Sammy Sosa ain't black that clown is Spanish"
"Damn Shanghai chinks and their flat asses and Sushi Eating"
"Mexicans think because they can vote in Puerto Rico they one of us, fuck em"

You betcha. I went to an all black school before I went to 1st grade. Teachers wore dashikis, taught swahili, advanced english, math & african culture. I loved it & would send my kids to that type of school.

Before 1st grade???? Does that even count?

yall know damn well this shit is sabotaged

we pray and hope for the best...but we know what time it is.:smh:

there will never be African history in public schools

you might get it in college but not during the years
where it would really benefit your drive growth and
attitude in the crucial building years.

Would this be the case if we designed our own schools?

We've all had moments when someone's name has temporarily slipped our memory. Most of us, however, don't resort to racial slurs as a placeholder. That's allegedly what one Connecticut middle school teacher did last month when she apparently forgot the name of a student and instead referred to him as "black boy." Kathleen Pyles, a math teacher at North End Middle School in Waterbury, Conn., became agitated when the student corrected her when she called him the wrong name, reportedly responding, "How about black boy? Go sit down, black boy." Pyles has been placed on administrative leave while school officials investigate.

Check out the comments.
Diversity.Where even your child can be "Black Boy".

Yeah here's a trailer from the movie that speaks about Mr.Canada school in Harlem. They seem to have a lottery system and receive a lot of corporate sponsorships (20 Million from goldman sachs). I wish this was more the rule instead of the exception.

But unfortunately in our communities, the same opportunities are not available for our kids.

In GA, Fulton County, they are closing a ton of schools. It is not about sending our kids to be with the "others," I see it as providing them a better opportunity.

Then the people in Fulton County need to fight harder for their schools.

My kid started out at an all black private school. He was getting mostly A's and some B's but when it came to standardized tests, he was doing around the 70% range. Now, he is in a mixed, mostly white school. His standardized test grades went up around 10 points.

White schools know how to teach to the tests, huh?

Let's be real, it cannot be that many.

:hmm:

You need to work on that, bruh. There are plenty.

The thread should have been done right here.

No it shouldn't. Those other things you think you can teach at home will be based on your own limited knowledge and not the knowledge of a team of men and women more educated and skilled than yourself like a child would gain from Black instructors.
That chasing diversity mentality (that only Black people have) is fool's gold. Just by being an ethnic minority, we have no choice but to be immersed in diversity. Our children don't lack for being around other people, they lack knowing how to from lack of exposure to other smart, successful Black folks.

But in the end, are we powerless to change the curriculum?

based on the amount of effort and the pta attendance i think so :dunno:

i saw this shit happen in slow motion here.

of this shit here. Now PG county schools are shit and DC

we had 10 year old books when i was in school....pages missing :smh:

Of course. Infact, I live in a neighborhood where there schools are among the worst in the nation. Because I'm a good liberal black man, I feel as though I should sacrifice my children just so the soviet style public school system won't collapse. Why send my kids to a private school which have a track record of success when I can support the salaries of teachers unions. Why I ask, why?

my nephew who was a very very good basketball player went to Laurinburg Institute ...... we both started out @ pine forge but...:smh::lol::smh::lol:....:smh: he also went to uhuru sasa school in brooklyn (6th, 7th, 8th grade) ......

Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, N.C.
[FONT=verdana,sans-serif]Laurinburg Institute reflects a history of Excellence and Achievement. It is now the only Black institution of its kind in the United States. Started in 1904 by Emmanuel Monty and Tinny McDuffie, with only a small piece of swamp land and a dream of providing quality education and guidance for black children. That dream is being realized every day, but it has not been without a tremendous challenge. The Laurinburg Institute is a private, non-sectarian preparatory school offering residential education in grades 9 through 12. Capacity enrollment is 135 boys and girls from all over the United States and many foreign countries.
The leadership of the School has remained in the McDuffie family through three generations. Frank H. McDuffie, Sr. son of Emmanuel and Tinny was President from 1953-1990 and was succeeded by his son Frank H. "Bishop" McDuffie. The family has truly dedicated their lives and committed themselves to the education and welfare of young men and women from all walks of life.

Prove me wrong.

maybe I am just going by where I live (GA), there really ain't that many here...

Just keeping it real!!!

From pre K to high school, my son has been to at least 3 different schools that were overwhelmingly Black with sprinklings of others and they've all been good public schools. The private school a few minutes from my house (Brisbane Academy) is a high quality Black school.
Somehow I doubt Charlotte is this exclusive enclave of quality schools for Black children.

Im not gonna send my son cameron to any school in the city of Chicago

Fucked up school system

All they do is shoot and shoot and shoot and come to school high and shoot some more
