HBO's True Detective Premiers tonight

Now we know what happened in the woods but also we know Hoyt knew too.
The ring is officially confirmed
Same universe as season 1
I have a theory that I won't share because it could ruin the show so I'm gonna bask in this episode and ride out.

Their dad was never near a type writer but typed out that vague ass note?
Fuckin da has to have a hand in it, keeps wantin to close it out

Roland showed up to make sure dawg dont fuck around & say da wrong shit. So, Mr. June = Watts = da man missing da eye. Mr. June & Dan had a connection that had sum'n to do with Laura. Hays fucked up somewhere & as a result, Ed Hoyt probably had Amelia murked. It's da only thing that makes sense. He blew da case on purpose to protect his family, perhaps??? Also led to him leaving da force in '90. :dunno:

Only Roland & Hays knew about da woods. Maybe Roland spilled da beans to cover his own ass. At this point, Hays can't or wouldn't remember.

man the wa y hays looked when he was the phone and hoyt laid out the names of his wife and kids:eek::eek:.
i think hays had to stop working that case without telling anyone the real reason for their safety. but i think it's going to be some crazy twist. i like how they show that season 1 is in the same universe. i would assume season 2 is too. i wouldn't be surprised if all these rings from the seasons are one and the same.

Jesus man is this real?

i never got around to researching further

i got this off Reddit during season one

to which season one was also supposed to be loosely based off a real case

matter of fact i think Vox did a small documentary on the town/ suspects or something, ill see if i can find it

Asides from being in da same universe, season 1 has nothing to do with season 2, allegedly.

You know what, even if it's not exactly this, these people exist and if it's not this symbol, it's another one.

Ima be looking for this shit everywhere now.

:smh:

And HOW did Hoyt know what transpired the night before?

This shit is crazy.
Nigga that’s what I asked, like how

Only way is to have a tail on Harris

Or he just knew it would be them since it’s their case and I bet Hoyt has the da under his thumb.

Donations, his eyes wide shut house parties, whores drugs and teens.

Keep a recordin on the shit as blackmail

That’s what I’d do( but no pedo shit tho)

Considering the stakes, Harris may have had people watching HIM 24/7.

Had to have been Roland. Then again, Hoyt had absolute influence in that town too.
Na, Roland did the killin. He been too good a friend to do purple like that.

Them two got a bond. Once you get into a fire fight with ya boy and y’all make it out alive, nothin will break that bond.

That’s why the old man convo was deep, no matter why they didn’t talk for a long time Roland knew once purp said he couldn’t remember he couldn’t help but get pass it.

Some real friendship shit. I had three friends like that in life, one killed himself years ago, usmc bond since boot camp and Cuba. Another got went back to church so I don’t fuck with him. Last nigga is day one down since we was 5.

He know my dirt and I know his, ain’t no lies between us.

But it makes sense though as to why Roland went further than he did career wise. Roland played politics, Hays didn't, he refused yet, he remained persistent about da case. So as such, they stayed on him as he was da one gettin' new evidence/leads alongside his wife, which also may be why she had to go because she was doin' way too much snoopin' around, gettin' too close and gettin' too involved.

Na he just knew how to play along with the bosses

All he did was make supervisor, he didn’t make top cop.

Im thinking Roland might have engaged in Batty boy activity thats why he sympatetic to old boy who lost his kids.... when Purp was getting close Rolad was getting nervous and tried to drive homie home....

Didn't Hayes say on the porch that Hoyt called him the next day after they did what they did? I gotta rewatch shit now. Roland asked him what he said and he brushed it off. How he don't remember the killing?

I must have some names mixed up. Gotta rewatch some episodes.

Da way I see it, perhaps it's to place da viewers in da same mindset as Hays where you can't remember what was and wasn't said/done.
