Get rid of cable - cordcutters 2013 strategy guide

I just followed this guide….using all copper wire
CRYSTAL CLEAR HD reception…ch. 2-50
Check this site for tv stations tower locations http://tvfool.com/
Set it up in the attic…feeding 5 tv’s:yes:
Everything else u wanna watch is streaming....(google is your friend);)

they don't hear you tho

i made one that pulls in all my locals without dropouts

paid about $2.50 for a few materials i needed at home depot

Is there a site that streams live sports in HD? I can never get the firstrow HD app to work right.

Live sports is the final frontier for cable cutters. If you are a die hard sports fan then cutting cable may not seem as appealing.

The NBA, MLB, and Hockey have live streaming of games. It's just the damn NFL man. The cable and Sat companies have the NFL locked down.

But when the NFL finally break away, and I do believe it will be soon, you will then see the real decline of cable.

There are plenty of streaming sites where you can watch basically any game you want through playon, redzone included. If you're cutting the cord that lifetime playon membership is more than worth it. For the past 3 years i've watched any game I want, Monday night, Thursday night, Sunday too.... believe me, it's not difficult.

Sports devil on xbmc does that.

I use firstrowsports. But I have a dedicated HTPC to my TV running XBMC. I like staying in the xbmc environment and not having to open a browser window to watch what I want. I tried firstrow in sportsdevil but it was giving me problems.

Yeah, I have the SprotsDevil addon on my XBMC. It was giving me buffering problems so I gave up. Maybe I will tinker with it and give it another go,

I made a post recently, looking for some feedback re: streaming for NFL games:

Sup Famalam...

I have Direct TV and have had the Sunday ticket for the past 3 or 4 years. I plan on moving to another apt, probably mid-season this year, so I don't want to buy the package and then end up not using it for half the season.

Because of this, I'm probably just gonna go the local bar or streaming route this season. What sites do ya'll use? I've used firstrowsports for a while now when it comes to NCAA and MMA, but never for NFL. Is it just as dependable for NFL games? Or are the links sometimey?

Thanks in advance for the feedback and/or suggestions

...looks like Ill have to sit down someday soon and go thru this thread. Have no idea what some of this stuff is (Sports Devil, etc.), but it sounds like it would behoove me to find out...

BUT none of this shit is good if your a BOXING or MMA fan...or is it :dunno:

I watch every MMA pay-per-view via firstrow, which is good enough for me in a bind. I want to know if firstrow is as dependable for NFL too. Or if there's a better streaming option..

Been cable free for almost 3 years. Roku 2 plus WDTV, plus OTA digital plus PlayOn...fuck cable.

3 years for me too. Best decision I made. Owned a PS3 anyway. I don't miss shit. In fact I see more because most of the streaming sports sites have every game not just in market. Pay $15 a month for Netflix and Hulu plus. BGOL downloads, and with my antenna I get mad local and bbc news stations and NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CW, like 12 Spanish stations :lol:

Good write up. Word of advice for people going for an antenna. Start with the cheapest one. I bought a $75 one and it didn't work for shit so I took it back. Bought a $10 snap together flat piece of shit(so I thought) just to see what it would do and been working perfect since I got it.

I purchased a Gbox a few weeks ago off amazon and its great to watch alot of HD movies on it but it can be a pain to find a working link for the movie to stream off off. The live TV works but the quality is meant for small screens not a 47" TV like I have. Overall its a good purchase if you want to watch few movies, the kids love the children section once set up with fusion.

I live in B-more. Right now I get "Limited Basic Cable" (the big 4 networks, and some govt/educational public access channels), for free by just plugging the cord. Not sure if its necessary, but what other channels could I possibly view with an antenna?

Cus I'm thinking an antenna would only give me access to the "LBC" package I mentioned earlier, but I have that already.

Now if theres some antenna out there that can get me Philly/DC/Jersey channels...:dance:

ok just got that firetv and I put xbmc on it. what else can or should I do to it?
