I'll give this a shot and see how it works...thanks.

tried living w/o comcast when i moved into my new place. long story short. im back with comcast after 6mo. this shyt is a hassle. and its difficult to entertain when you gotta depend on a service thats homebrewed and not stable

if u entertain alot, its important to work the user experience into the setup.

thats my challenge. i can currently access way more content than u can w/ ur cable box but its not a smooth process at all. only people comin over are my girl, fam n my homies these days tho n they all know im on some fake mad scientist shit w/ my tv.

but by this summer imma hopefully have it smooth as using a cable box n 360 w/ the same access to content + games.

Finally got rid of Comcast. Already have Roku and Netflix. I just signed up with Hulu Plus and ordered two Mohu Leaf Paper-Thin Indoor HDTV Antennas. I have PlayOn but none of the scripts worked, so I must have some old ones.

Am I missing anything else? Not trying to go back to dropping all that money on Cable when they don't even give a damn.

this thread is fuckin awesome..

I am paying 100 a month just to rent the fuckin boxes..

I was thinkin about just keeping the extreme internet and dumping the boxes..

and this thread is EMPOWERMENT!!!

that XBMC sounds fuckin lovely!!

???

everyone who paid for one got one. total of 5-6 people got one from this site. only one person stepped forward and admitted to getting his. no money, no home theater

Not to take sides here, but Da Don sent me my shit!! Thanks, shit is fire in my bedroom.

Im back on Comcast too. Firstrowsports ESPN links dont work anymore. Got tired of missing First Take and Mike & Mike.

I still use my Roku boxes though.

I just got the leaf 4 days ago. I live 40 miles south of Atlanta in the woods and I picked up 13 channels with it sitting on top of my tv. Moved it around a bit and got a fee more. I have not had cable for 3 years. I use netflix and hulu. Im going to get an outdoor ota version antennae and I should be able to pick up all 70 digital channels in my area. I get crystal clear full hd channels

What's the best roku channels for live football and basketball? Justin tv gets taken offline each time I try to watch a game.

I had a question. So I have a Roku and I have Playon. Whenever I try and view the channels on my X-Box, it says that it's not supported. And I can't recall what it did when I tried the Roku. What are the exact steps needed to view the scripts and watch the channels?

Man That couldnt be a truer statement.
My people used to question me. Now they look in amazement, but they either to cheap or lazy to learn for themselves

I agree. When I cancelled my Hulu Plus subscription I wrote that in the box.

For everyone who has problem streaming sports thru your Roku or other devices. I find it faster and easier to just play it on my laptop which has a hdmi output and I hook it to my TV & always select link 1. No problems ever.

gamers whats ur take on the ps4 and xbox one?

which one looks like it serve the cordcutter best?

Well from what I understand, you still don't have to pay for online with the PS4. So that means Netflix, Hulu, etc for free.

wasnt there a digital satellite service that gave you 1000+ channels american and international and it was a 1x fee of $54....i think there was a thread here about that service..for the life of me i cant remember the fuckin name of that company

i have no idea. sounds interesting.

This one is flying under the radar but I just found out about it today. For those that don't have cable this joint is a life saver. There's this new company called Aereo, apparently what they're doing is going to major cities and installing a massive TV antenna to stream the local channels to all in the area. Yes, you can get your own antenna and do it free but they also offer recording. It's $8 a month and you get all the local channels with 20 hours of recording or $12 a month with 60 hours of recording. As of right now it looks like it's only available in Boston, New York and they actually just started service in ATL today. I'm trying it out and the channels are HD, great quality. They have a roku channel which basically means I can watch all of the locals plus a few extras on tv..also the option to stream through browser.

http://www.aereo.com

Check it out, worth the $8 a month if you don't have cable.

Thanks for this info. My $180/mo (with taxes) cable bill is wearing me the fuck out. It was a promotion with Internet and phone included. So I'm trying to figure out how to tweak it. I do like the cable internet over verizon.

I'm at $30 a month. Internet onky. I never watched much TV and when I do its pin point so something I recorded or Internet sponsored. Netflix etc.. I guess not sure how folks have time to watch 3 or 4 hours a day. My son on Netflix heavy and any new movie is always on bgolplex.

Just like business a lot of your success comes from decreasing overhead.

Next mission getting rid of the escalade getting a car lol

From my oily note 3! now Free

how much speed you get for $30?

Now that brother I don't know. Its Enough To Netflix Download Movies And All that. I'll check next week getting an updated box. The key is tell them to disconnect and reconnect will start you back off at promo price. 6 months then goes to like 40 then like 50 at a year. I'll quit and do it again. At saving 100 to 150 a month it's worth it.... almost buy my monthly ticket to the crib. Just did jump on T-Mobile so between both saving a good 200 a month

From my oily note 3! now Free

I'm tired of XBMC. The best plug ins are 3rd party and you have to constantly watch the forums because they change/break all the time. I just want something that plays Netflix, Youtube and my local movies consistently with the openness of XBMC.

I see no one here mentioned Mediaportal. I'm gonna put it on my box this weekend and fuck around with it.

Things to be aware of:

Atom processors don't do HD Netflix or 10bit Anime. It'll turn the movie into a slide show. Get something beefier.

Powerline adapters aren't as reliable as Coax to Ethernet adapters.

Thanks for yall posting your experience. I do more movie watching on Netflix but still have cable. Watching ESPN online for free is a hassle like pop-ups city! I would not pay for any of the sports packages from the original post at $100-$250/yr though.

ok gents,,,i got a roku,,,what is the deal with playon,,i thought that someone had a deal in this thread for cheap playon service
