We got a good deal for Pau. Not too many guys will give you 18 & 12 a night and some good passing for less than 8 mil a year.
Taj just signed his extension not too long ago, he'd also be hard to replace.
They won't trade McDermott because:
1) Thibbs hasn't even really given him a chance because he doesn't trust rookies.
2) Under a new coach, he might flourish.
3) They gave up so much to get him.
4) He's on his rookie contract.
5) The FO loves him. (They love their white boys)
Mirotic has a gang of potential and he's cheap.
Snell is about to step his game up because now he pretty much has to.
I think at most, they'll use the exception money to bring Nate back or throw whatever cap space at somebody like Rodney Stuckey or Mo Williams, then draft a 3rd string guard.
Paxson said they werent gonna sign a player after Rose went down....but i wonder if theylll consider it now. Theres no SUPERSTAR fa's available....but theres a few serviceable players that can play the role of a "temp band-aid". If Tom would just test out the players that he has...maybe they can survive with signing extra players. He's looking for defense from offensive players. He has to realize that a lot of his players aint two way players like Jimmy...therefore..use them for what theyre good for.

I like Thibs being that I'm a big defense guy, but he's just too stubborn about the rookies and digging into the bench.

Bulls played some good defense overall...but did VERY well vs Gortat and Nene. Nene was basically nonexistent (fouls & weak D); which is great considering the fact he was talking shit about how he hated us a day ago.
Noah looks like he's finally getting healthy. He was moving great..passing...grabbing boards...overall he just looked more energetic. A la last year, maybe he knows he needs to step it up in order for us to win.
Mirotic had another great game. He makes mistakes here and there...aint a great defender...but that Euro boy can BALL!! I seriously believe he has 26 & 10 type potential if he were to be a starter.
Doug finally got some mins....but looked rusty. The rust was expected tho. He hasnt played much all this season.

I dont want to make it seem as if E'Twaun Moore is the PG of the future just because he played good defense vs Westbrook in crunch time and hit the game winner at the end of the game....but when i saw him play today it made me wonder what will it take for our bench players to convince Tom Tibby to give them more time?
A lot of times E'Twaun looks better than Aaron and Hinrich. Im not saying he should get most of the mins....but he should be on the floor more ..especially when we need points and a longer body @ PG.
Btw...that last play was drew for Gasol.....Westbrook fucked up and left his Man to double Pau. Pau noticed the fuck up and tipped passed it to E'Twaun. GJ Gasol!

Great game!!!
Felt like the playoffs.
Close game most of the way...but OKC actually had a 16 point lead at one point in the 1st half. OKC started pulling away again in the 4th via repetitive pick and rolls w/ Serg and Westbrook. At one point the pick and rolls started looking unstoppable because Russell kept knocking down shots over and over and over and over again. Serg was knocking down long ass jumpers as well....which was strange.
OKC got another double digit lead in the middle of the 4th ...but then the Bulls picked up the defense, suffocated Westbrook and went on a 8-0 run (27-14 run to win the game).
Mirotic missed a lot of shots. But most of those shots were attempted 3's (2-9). Other than that...he almost put up 30.

Gasol got another double double and was owning Kanter most of the game. Spinning and doing all kinds of shit.
Mike Dunlevey has been great for us since he's come back from injury.
E'Twaun almost had 20. 13 of his 19 points came in the 4th.
Noah also looked great, once again, playing the roll of a PG and making great passes most of the game.
Snell couldnt get into a groove because he had to help contain Westbrook most of the game. Which didnt turn out so great during the first 3.5 quarter.

Taj came back for the first time in almost 3 weeks. He didnt play many mins, but he looked good while he was out there. He has 12 games to get in playoff shape...so he should be good. Jimmy Butler is inching closer to returning as well. He logged in a couple of full practices last week..but is still out. Rose is basically in phase2 of his rehab, but is said to be ahead of schedule as well.
As for this game....
Mike Dunlevy has been playing great on offense as of late. The rest of our guys have been playing their roles accordingly as well. But the bright spot over the last 10+ games has got to be Nikola. Check out the stats!
Nikola was already grabbing boards and scoring.But as of late he's starting to block a lot of balls as well. Which is great considering the fact that he lacks on defense. When u have a mofo thats almost 6' 11" shooting the ball like a guard, a la Durant, then he's going to create a ton of problems.
Nikola is stretch four. Cant think of many TALENTED stretch four's in the east. Besides LBJ, there aint many players in the east that can play PF and guard a player like Nikola. Which was one of the reasons why the Wizards bigs were having problem with him a couple of games ago. Nikola creates fouls...and shoots well. If he had better 3 point shooting, which is something he admitted he needs to work on, then he wouldve easily got over 30 a game in most of the previous games that he's played in.
There were talks about Nikola making a late season push for ROY. It would kinda suck for the other candidates if he got it tho. Mainly because Nikola aint your typical rookie. He had professional type skills prior to coming to the NBA.
My hope is that Tom doesnt bury him in the bench once his regular workhorses come back. He can be a nice weapon in the playoffs.
GAMES REMAINING
At this point of the season its all about playoff positioning. The Hawks are basically locked @ 1. Might as well say the Cavs are locked @ 2. The Bulls, Raptors & Wizards are mixing it up at 3-5. With the win tonight we move back up to #3. The problem with being #3 is that you have to meet the Cavs if you advance to Rd2. If youre #4 or #5, then you have to play the Hawks in Rd2.
I can see the Bulls making it to Rd2. Our opponent in Rd1 will be either the Wizards, Raptors or Bucks. I can say with confidence that we can beat any of those 3 in a 7 game series. Even if we're without Rose. So the question is which team would you want to face in Rd2?
If the Heat upset the Cavs in Rd1, then we might have a Bulls vs Heat Rd2...lMaO!!!

Noah was out due to soreness....but it aint nothing serious. Just typical soreness after playing hard. Jimmy played his first game in 21 days and played almost 40 mins. His timing was sorta off..but he still got 19 & 9. Gasol had a great game as well...another double double.
Mirotic is still in BEASTMODE!!! Had 28 & 8. I think he had 13 in the 4th quarter. Mirotic is currently #1 in the NBA for points averaged in the 4th during the month of March.
He almost had a new career high (current 29), but he missed a few ft's that prevented him from getting & going over 30. His defense has also improved a lot as well.

I love Thibs for what he's done in his time in the Chi, but I can't say after this season I'll miss him. I've never seen a team with as much talent on offense STRUGGLING to get decent looks. No there are no superstar players, but between Pau, Jimmy, Aaron, and Niko there's enough there to not be this disorganized, pedestrian, and predictable. It's frustrating to watch. The D sucks because there are good offensive players, but I'm convinced Thibs handcuffs his players on O. This loss was BAD!!!
The Cavs hit incredible three point shots. We will see if those incredible shots fall in the playoffs.

But all those bad 3 point shots and bs passes, which turned into turnovers, killed us. I think we'll meet the Cavs again in the playoffs. Should be interesting.
I just heard about Noah being on a 32 min cap about 4 weeks ago. Imho...there were two games that he couldve impacted and PROBABLY helped us win. That OKC game that we loss and this game. Once Noah went out vs the Cavs...Gasol came back in and the defense suffered.
TOm knows that Noah is on a limit....but always seems to run out during crunch time. Rose said he will be back this week to get maybe 4-5 games in before the playoffs, but he'll be restricted as well; between 26-32 mins.
I dont know if this min restriction shit wil carry over into the playoffs...I HOPE NOT FOR NOAH...but if it does someone needs to keep Tom informed.

Speaking of PG...the Pacers just made #8 in the playoffs tonight.
If they make it...it would be Pacers vs Hawks in rd 1.....i think that would be better than nets vs hawks. I could see the Pacers upsetting the Hawks if PG is allowed to play more mins.

Rose said he took himself out of tonight's game because of soreness in his knee. I am just not use to this NBA, this shit goes on all around the league now. Rose seemed geeked to be back in the playoffs. He showed a lot of enthusiasm. Played with a lot of confidence.

Overall good game/win. It was basically the Jimmy and Rose show. But the rest of the supporting cast contributed as well.

The Bulls looked good. So I'm just going to speak objectively about what concerned me. Too many turnovers, too many jumpers, defensive intensity lacking. I have no doubt Milwaukee won't pose a real threat. But the Bulls won't get out of the 2nd round is these issues persist. As good as they looked yesterday I'm not convinced the way they played as a whole with allot of the bad shots falling is sustainable. The talent gap and outside shooting masked some flaws I think need to be tightened up.
