Rose and Butler carried the Bulls in this one. Fyi...if you havent been watching the Bulls as of late, Butler has been playing at an all-star level.
He'll get BIG money after this year.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11931211/jimmy-butler-unusual-path-becoming-star

As for the rest.
Gasol has been a major upgrade over Boozer.
Especially on the defensive end (blocks & boards)
Him and Noah down low have been double double machines more times than not.

Brooks is doing great off the bench.
Been that way all year.

Also, Mirotic is playing great playing extra mins while Taj is out.
Its good to know we have good players that can fill in when our Stars go down.

On the flip side....
Our defense is a work in progress with all these new guys.
Our offense is now top 10, but we're allowing too many points.
And at times allowing too many opposing rebounds.

As well as he's playing Thibs needs to give Jimmy a few more minutes of rest. No need to play him like he played Deng. Let Brooks or McDermott play an extra 5 minutes and allow Butler to play 35 minutes instead of 40 or more.

Memphis ended the Warriors long streak and were rolling prior to that.
One of the top teams in the West. But unfortunately for them we rolled into Memphis and cool them right off.

No Rose again....got the flu or something. But we have our AllStar Jimmy Butler playing, so we were good.

Jimmy had a career high 35 yesterday...and had 31 today. If you dont know about what Jimmy has been doing this season..then youre not a BBall or Bulls fan.

Mirotic also had a career game. Dude was out there balling!!!

Our defense stil concerns me. We're scoring more points, but stil allowing too many as well. But its still early.....we'll be good!!

Rose been looking good. He just need to stop shooting so many 3's.
Butler is doing what he does...playing like a max player.
He posted another 30+ and should now be in the top 10 for ppg in the NBA.

Team stats:

# 7 offense (#30 last year)
# 9 defense (#1 last year...surprised we're still in the top 10 with all the points that we allow)
# 4 rebounds.....
#12 assist
#28 in steals (sucky...but our defense has never been about steals anyways)
#2 in blocks (shout of to the twin towers)

Jimmy my fav NBA player right now, all about the game, reminds me of Scottie Pippin!:yes::yes:

Dude knows how to get to the basket and draw fouls. I remember as a rookie he could get to the foul line, he just wasn't playing as much as he is now. Dudes growth as an offensive player has been outstanding. The Bulls can legitimately win a championship if everyone stays healthy.:yes:

Fingers crossed on the health part, I just want a great run win or lose!

Not really enthused about Mike Dunleavy starting.
I wish the Bulls had tried to get Wilson Chandler from Denver.
I hear Denver may be cleaning house and rebooting...

Why TT left him on the bench last night and left Brooks on the floor made no sense though; Dunleavy was having one of his better game of the season in terms of rebounds and actually made a few shots.

Bulls been doing great with Rose and Brooks both on the floor. I think they had a 20 point lead once he benched Mike...but i could be wrong. But why he didnt bring him back in once the BUlls started struggling for points confused me.

They blew a 20 lead in the forth quarter and almost loss. if it wasnt for paul hitting that 10 ft shot and jimmy drawing a foul and then hitting that 3...we wouldve lost.

Good win vs one of the top teams in the league/west. Felt like a playoff game.
But stilll.........
Allowing all these 100+ point games doesnt rub me the right way.
The defense has obviously been compromised for more offense this year.
Like I stated before....im surprised we're still in the top 10 in defense. I think our TEAM DEFENSE is what keeps us in it. Cause individually...we only have about 4 good defensive players on our team (Taj, Noah, Jimmy & Kirk). Gasol has been a beast with the boards and blocks..so maybe i'll add him later...lol. Anyways..as long as we continue to be consistent with the offense and getting wins...then im cool!!

Same kats getting it done.
Jimmy, Rose (whos still tryna find his jumper), Gasol (who is having one of the best years of his career), Aaron, Taj, Nikola blah blah blah.

Doug Mcdermut was said to be the sleeper rookie in the NBA...but he's been injured. Cant wait to see what he contributes once he's back. His perimeter shooting can open things up for us.

As of right now Nikola is doing his thang!! Glad to see Tom Tibby giving him more playing time. He still needs to wok on his defense....but that Euro boy got GAME!!!!! You all need to watch him play..dont just look at box scores.

I think this is one of the best offensive teams that we've had in 6+ years.
Our D is not #1 like in the past, but stiill top 10 & a work in progress.
If we can stay healthy and carry this good BBall into the second half....I think we're the fav to take it all.

I cant see any of the teams out East beating us in a 7 game series.
And besides the Spurs...no other team out west has the pedigree to scare me.

Fyi...
The only teams thats in our way for best in the East are the surprising ATL Hawks. Theyre up by 2-3 games.

Maybe they'll crank up the defense in the playoffs and are just coasting through the season so maybe the players won't be so wore down and injured by then?

Thank goodness for their bench. I never thought that I would say I miss Dunleavey. He opens up the floor because you have to respect his shot.

Way to much outside shooting going on. That's killing our rebounding and ability to get to the free throw line. A little better in the 2nd quarter, but that defense has to step up.

Didnt see this game. So I cant type anything on it.
But at least we won after that BS vs the Wizards last night.
Noah was getting bodied by Nene.
Noah aint got the weight to go up against Nene...but Noah also aint healthy (dont know if yall knew this or not). His knee still healing from the procedure. Hence the reason he's not playing near the level that he played at last year.

Anyways...
Check out Gasol stat line.
Had the best game of his career.
He had 40 after 3...if Tom wouldve kept playing him...he wouldve easily had over 50 for the night.

So many folks said dude was washed up...when in reality he was playing good basketball even while playing with the shit Lakers.

Lakers got Boozer....
We picked up Gasol....
Good trade off...

This is the second time the Wizards beat us in one week. Rose or not, theyve been giving us issues over the last 2-3 years....but at this point our main issue seems to be with our defense. We lost two days ago to the fucking Magic because we couldnt stop them from scoring. Tom Tibby talked about the defense and our lack of effort on the glass. But then the Bulls come out vs the Wizards and allowed them to run a thousand pick and roll's. They almost had 30 assist...we didnt crack 20 (which is rare).

Noah rolled his ankle...which aint good considering the fact he was still healing from his other injury. I wouldnt be shocked if he misses some time. Might not be back until after the break. Thankfully Taj is healthy.

We aint ending the first half on a good note....but I think (or hope) we kick things into full gear after the break. Hopefully Doug, Mike and Noah will all be healthy. And hopefully our defense will figure things out.

I wonder if we'll make any trades? Maybe get rid of Snell (cause he aint doing shit but riding the bench) next years kings pick and another player for some depth at forward or center.

BULLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i watched that bullshit and have been watching us play like shit, we have no intensity fam, and i respect noah and taj but they still look hurt and then noah sprained his ankle, dunleavy injury has affected our spacing on offense, but mainly teams feel like they can beat us if they just play harder than us and that's what's happening sadly.

Every time we scored.....our defense allowed them to score ..which prevented us from making a come back. Korver hit like 4-5 3's in a row at one point. This type of bs has happened a lot this year.

Our defense has obviously been compromised for our offense this year. Its like the Chicago Bears 2.0.....but not as bad. And im not just typing this because I saw the Bulls allow the Hawks to run the same type of bs play 5-6 straight times....but that comment is coming from a collection of games that ive saw this year.

We've allowed 100 points too many time this year. This is the first time in Tom Tibby HC career were his defense has looked like shit more times than not.

Im not in panic mode....we're still in the first half and still have a winning record. One of our best defensive players hasnt been healthy. We're also known to get our shit together, new players or not, as the season rolls along. But as of right now......we have a problem.

As I'd mentioned, the Bulls have quite a bit to correct before they start winning again. You can't pencil in a win against any teams during this stretch they're in. Only good thing is Toronto has been dropping some games, and the Cavs record isn't great, either. Noah, Taj, and Dunleavy can't get healthy quick enough.

Glad to see us get a win at home...i.e. a place where we rarely win.
And vs one of the top teams from the West.

Looks like Snell has been getting more mins than Mirotic.
I guess Tom Tibby got fed up with his recent struggles....but i hope he doesnt cut his mins too much.

Saw a lot of "vintage" Rose tonight. Glad to see him come out and back-up his talk after the rant that he gave 2 days ago. Lots of driving....less shooting. A few Iceman type moves. He's been cleared to play more mins...if he chooses. So hopefully he pushes himself a little more so he can get back into NBA mode.

Bulls played great team defense. Greater effort going for boards/loose balls.

Our offense seemed to be more fluid coming out the gates. Mainly because we attempted more higher percentage shots.

Yea... good win. We just need to find some consistency.

Yep!!
Golden State 19 game home win streak ENDED!!!

Rose wasnt having a great shooting night, percentage wise, also had 11 fucking to's. But he stepped up big when it counted. He made a few great moves throughout the game.

Noah and Gasol both looked great today. Glad to see Noah finally have a good game.
The rest of our boys played good games as well.

We allowed another 100 points.....but that was expected w/ this defense going up against one of the top teams in the NBA.

They out assisted us (I'd like to see us pass more), but we out rebounded them. Noah grabbed some crucial boards late in the game and Kirk got a big steal and hit a big 3 late in the 4th that gave us the lead.

We only allowed them to score 4 points in OT..which is impressive considering who we were playing against.

The game was great overall.
Felt like a playoff game.

Good to get a win after that bs for the bs Heat.
Good win vs a great team.

No stats to report.
Just know that we lost our last 3.

Lakers, Phoenix and Rockets last night.

At first it was mainly our defense that was the issue....but now it seems to be the offense as well.

For the first time in over 4 years...the Bulls dont look like a team.
Lot of selfishness...no communication....no one seems to be on the same page more times than not.

As for the defense...i wonder if Tom Tibby will consider benching Pau some and letting Noah and Taj play together more. Those two have a history together. Pau has been great for our offense....and his rebounds and blocks look good well....but he just isnt on a "Noah/Taj" level when it pertains to defense.

When we get injured players back...i think we'll improve some on offense....but still.
The lack of communication....all the bs shots (3's by Rose) etc etc....the shit looks bad. They come out the gate looking confused. They have 1 or 2 great quarters.....then they just fall apart in the 4th.

But like i stated before......im not tripping.
I think we'll bounce back after the break.

All this regular season stuff dont mean shit in the playoffs; UNLESS you carry the bs with you into the playoffs.

Rose is not looking to distribute the ball and is using games to practice his long jumper. Gasol has no equal in the East, he should be 1st option. 2nd option and team leader should go to Butler. With Noah, Gasol and Gibson under the boards how can they not get a stick back.

If they still doing this shit in March, I'll be worried.

Butler said himself that he needs to work on balancing out his good defense/good offense because when he commits to one, he slacks on the other one.

Gasol puts up good numbers but he's still hurting the team being on the floor with the wrong line-up. Mirotic needs more burn because he runs well with certain players.

Rose gotta learn that damn floater. 3 bombs and the occasional kamikaze dives into the paint aren't a good look.

I think Thibs is just waiting for Doug and MDJ to come back to start tweaking the rotations.

I think we were gonna win this game no matter what....but the reason why we won by such a large margin was because of that Anthony Davis injury. Hope my CHi Town Brethren is ok.

But anyways...
We needed this win.
Our defense still :hmm: and the offense was struggling as well.
The recent low assist totals tell a story about this "New Team"......

At this point i think we just need to get to the break. Noah can rest for a week. We'll also have our injured pieces back after the Allstar games. Hopefully we'll kick things into full gear in the second half. We need to have our shit together by April at the latest..

The Cavs are right on our asses for first in our division. But the Wizards have been playing like ass as well.....so that will keep us in that top four for the time being. I think our last game of the first half is vs the Cavs. So that should be interesting. Would be nice to get a win vs them before the break.

Btw...I wish Tom would give that Doug kid more mins.

We go into the break on a bright note. Not many serious injuries and a 4 game win streak...after being up and down (but more so down) over the last 2 weeks.

How did we do it??? More intensity on defense and more team ball on offense. Our assist totals over the last 4 games have been a tad over 25 per. D Rose passing more, (like a PG should), has been one of the reason's we've seen a uptick in assist numbers. That "extra pass" is what helped us survive back when we had a shit offense. If we passed more and took higher percentage shoots...i honestly believe we could be ranked #1 on offense. Some of our other improvements cant be seen in the box score. You need to watch the games....

Pau Gasol extended his double-double streak to 14 straight games with 18 points and 10 rebounds. That’s the longest streak in the NBA this season and the longest such streak by a Bulls player since Michael Jordan had 15 straight in the 1988-89 season. He leads the league with 35.

The Bulls players that were shining in the first half are already known. Gasol, "Allstar" Jimmy, Rose etc. But we always have a "GEM" that pops up out of no where every year. As of right now that GEM is 2nd year player Tony Snell. He had a great preseason, but for some reason was buried on the bench for most of the first half. Injuries forced Tony into the line up...but his great play kept him there.

Snell has averaged around 24 mpg over the last 10 games....averaging about 12ppg 4.5 rpg 1apg. He's averaged almost 20 ppg over the last four games. Over the last 10 games he's shot 15/25 from 3 point range.... around 60%.

If Tom would give Doug more playing time.....so he can find his stroke.....we could PROBABLY have 3 or 4 good three-point shooters at our disposal. Having that mainly threats from behind the arch could really open things up for Jimmy, Gasol, Taj, Brooks, Rose etc.

1st Half Team Stats

9th offense
13th defense
3rd rpg
10th fg% (shout out to D Rose for all the brick 3 pointers)
10th 3p% (Wouldve been better if D Rose didnt shoot so many 3's)
3rd ft%
16th apg (should be higher, but lots of ball hogging in the 1st half)
27th spg
1st bpg (shout out to the Twin Towers)
11th topg (High to's because of the lack of communication on offense...due to ball hogging)

Only watched bits and pieces of this game. KG wasnt playing...so i really couldnt get into the game. Kinda boring....

Gasol was out today because of a illness. But Jimmy did his thang, as usual, and Mike picked up the slack on the offensive side.

Noah was 2 assist away from a triple double...
Everyone else basically was hit or miss.
But more so "miss" for Nate Robinson 2.0 aka Aaron Brooks.

As for Rose...his injury wasnt as serious as most had thought. I heard a lot of things that eased my nerves about him.

He basically had his knee scoped.....some shit clipped etc. They say he walked out after the 15 min procedure on his own with no crutches etc.

The Bulls say he can miss 3-6 weeks. Doug had a similar injury and procedure a few months ago and came back after 4. Russel (OKC) came back even sooner. But Rose aint them (they didnt have acl injuries). So let's just say he'll miss the entire 6 weeks...or 90% of the remaining regular season.

This is our remaining schedule...

b5k55x.jpg

Besides the Clips, Memphis, OKC, maybe 1 vs Toronto....our remaining schedule is kinda weak. We have a lot of VERY WINNABLE games mixed in. So I think we'll be fine until Rose comes back.

The main concern with Roses return will be his conditioning...other than that....he shouldnt be too out-of-tune. The time he's away should help some of our other players, who werent getting many mins, come into form for the playoff run.

Bulls are @ #3 right now.....but i fully expect the Cavs to take the division lead and for us to drop to the 4-5 spot. The reason I dont think we'll drop below 5 is because theres really no other team under the wizards that gonna make a BIG push in the second half.

1. Hawks
2. Cavs
3. Raptors
4. Wiz or Bulls
5. Wiz or Bulls

Theres a lot of talk that this wil be Tibbs final year no matter what happens...and I believe it. Im a big Tom Tibby supporter....but if he goes he goes. I just hope they find a SUITABLE replacement. Despite the bs ways that he manages his players (like playing starters when your up by 20 vs the Bucks)...he's still a top 5 Coach imho.

Out of all the injuries that we've had over the years.....Deng, Rose, Noah, Butler, Taj etc...most of them play ed major mins under Tibbs. Some says that one of the reason why they always get injured...but i beg to differ. The reasons vary.....

More than likely it will be a "Warriors type" thing. Whereas the talented coach gets fired and then a UNPROVEN coach will come in a reap the benefits of what the previous coaching staff put in place.

But anyways.....despite all the bs....im one of the few that is still optimistic about this year. ANything can happen out East. That is UNLESS we dont get Rose back and most of our starters are still sitting at 65% health.
