Electric Blue jacks are wimps almost to a fault. My female green terror would have kicked their asses (RIP....jumped out of the tank). Other Electric Blue Cichlids might be aggressive like the Texas Blue (I want to get a few of these), but blue jacks......punks. my two are living with some skirt tetra and giant danios and they are 4-5 inches long

Yep, my green teror killed the jack first day in the tank

Oh ok. Any recommendations for what I can use to help clean that up. I have cory catfish and nerite snails as my cleaners but am wondering if I should maybe add some Siamese algae eaters
Lights are the biggest cause of algea. Is your tank near a window? And how many hrs a day are you running the lights?
How many hrs a day are yo

UV light filter will kill the algae bloom

actually its the sunlight that causes it.
i covered the back of my aquarium with blue poster board (any color would do), since its against a window that lets in sunlight,
and i havent had an issue with algae since.

There is a window across the room as well. I can try closing the blinds to see if that helps. I typically turn the lights on around 7AM when I feed the fish and turn them off around 6PM

Had some issues with the plants staying alive in my tank and replaced the lights with a Fluval Plant LED 3.0. Not only are the plants doing better but I'm also seeing a green algae bloom. I'm going to adjust the schedule for how much light the plants get as well as get some more Nerite snails but overall I'm pleased with the difference.

I use root tabs and Seachem Excel on a regular basis. The plants were turning brown and transparent even with that prior to me replacing the LEDs I had with the Fluval Plant 3.0 that I have now. What I really like bout the Fluval is I can better schedule when the lights come on from my phone as opposed to me remembering to turn the lights on & off manually. I think seeing the green algae is encouraging cuz now I know sufficient light is getting to the plants. I just now gotta curb the algae growth with refined light scheduling and Nerite snails.
