I perfer sand but gravel is a good start. put some danios in there to start the biological filtration.

I had money to burn, and I did not want to spend it at the casino.. besides its great corner piece in the game room.Just coped a 75g aquarium complete with stand, canopy and t5 lights for $225 on Craigslist. Guy I bought it from needed to make room for his new 220g tank. Not sure yet if im going fresh or salt yet but im leaning toward a planted freshwater setup.
Fish had babies.. not sure when but I see a gang of them lil shits!!

UPDATE: 5 neon tetra and 1 Zebra danio. The other danio either got eaten or sucked into the filter. No where to be found
Keep watching, you'll see that number getting smaller and smaller. Depending on which fish gave birth you should've had at least 30.
Those fish are small so I would once a month

I've had a few of them most I had at once were 2. I can't seem to keep them alive longer than a yr. Very funny fish to watch when you have more than one.

Got the tank off craiglist for $140
Pool filter sand from pool store $12
Rocks from land scaping place 20 cents a lb=$7
Had the aqueon from my old tank,got the fluval for $200 brand new last week,the aqueon was not cutting it...te fluval was WELL worth the investment!

had to drain all the water out my tank in order to move it so i could have new carpet put in. damn fish died when i had to refill it and set it back up. thinking about switching up and doing something different this time. Prolly gonna get a couple Oscars, Bala Sharks, and get a common snapping turtle. This will be my first time trying a snapper, but a friend of mine has one in his tank.....shit looks nice.

Did you test you water in the tank?
yeah,....i tested the ph, temp, all that.
the only thing i had to change was their diet, because they just would not eat
the turtle food that was purchased at Petsmart. so i switched up and started feeding
them red wrigglers instead....and they ate those voraciously. i think i'll wait on getting another one.
right now i just have 4 oscars in it and a plecostomus in it.
