APRIL 12TH UPDATE =

Gonna check that Blackburn fight out as well. Heard it was great too.

Props for all of the links. Silva could have finished but didn't, don't know why he said Maia disrespected him so he wanted to punish him. Anybody know where to download the prelims. I heard the prelims were better than the fights on the card. I was looking forward to watching the Demarques vs Brad Blackburn fight. Heard is was a war. Props, best thread on bgol.

Here's a few of the PRELIMS for you, brother DS ^

Official thread for the event tomorrow ... first outdoor stadium show. Should be a good one, and let's see how MAIA and EDGAR hold their own in there against the 185lb and 155lb champs respectively (The Spider and The Prodigy). Maia needs to be careful in there as although his stand-up has improved alot in the past year ... he's still much better on the ground. And we all saw what happened when Nate Marquardt dropped him quickly within the past year or two (and Marquardt actually held his own in there a few years ago against Silva) ... also ... Edgar's a tough muthafucka. Smart/crafty with good striking and wrestling ... how will he fare in there against BJ ... considering Diego Sanchez was in there for 20 minutes with Penn last year but was dominated the entire time and couldn't find his game and was overmatched.

* Keep in mind this evening is an EARLY ONE. The live airing is in the morning (as it's airing in Abu Dhabi) - so check your local PPV listings and streaming links online. The repeat/regular broadcast is in the evening per norm ... but ya'll know how that goes when the UFC is overseas in places like Abu Dhabi / Germany / England / Australia ... timezone differences and all. Enjoy the show tomorrow night ... gonna check it out with about 4 or 5 of the homies ...

Umm Anderson Dominated Nate Marquart

http://www.mma-core.com/videos/_Anderson_Silva_vs_Nathan_Marquardt_UFC_73?vid=10000868

Here's the fight right here for those who need proof. Nate Marqu. didn't hold his own at all.

He wasn't fucking embarassed like Forrest Griffin, Thales Leites and others though.

Patrick Cote actually hung around for a few rounds before his knee gave out on him ... but yo ... some of these other busters looked alot worse than Marquardt ever did.

:eek::lol:

Cote was scared to engage and did absolutely nothing. He should be happy his knee gave out, because his jaw would've given out by a pinpoint shot if it didn't. Anderson is a master seriously. He's not normal. The only way he could lose would be by way of age or injury

The Champs are gonna whip some ass. I don't think either challenger has an ice cubes chance in hell. I'm interested in Hughes and Gracie, but Hughes will GnP gracie.

Absolutely ... the only people who've looked halfway decent in there with him in recent memory = Dan Henderson and a few others.

Guys like LEBEN and GRIFFIN fucked up by trying to stand with him but were way overmatched.

Whereas guys like LEITES and COTE were too bitchmade to engage ... which is why Silva was pissed at them and put on boring displays and didn't try to buy into anything they were selling with their lame asses. They were too scared (the opponents) of ending up on highlight reels and future years worth of UFC UNLEASHED and UFC's GREATEST KNOCKOUTS episodes :lol::lol:

Plus Anderson was playing with Cote, I think he was actually trying to stretch the fight out. That's why he was so pissed Cote's leg went out before he got Ko'd.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Edgar performs, and to see if he can last in there. He's a tough dude in his own right.

He's fought some decent talent over the years.

MILLER / BOCEK / SHERK / GRIFFIN / MAYNARD / FRANCA / VEACH / FISHER / etc.

Yea Dan hendo did a decent job in the 1st round. After hat he got dominated on the feet and the ground to boot.

I think Edgar has a chance to make it a fight. But I can't see him winning in anyway. But he has surprised me before.

I can't wait to see how he'll destroy MIa. He'll probably just knock him out

Yeah - it should be an interesting match-up.

For some reason I'm unsure what'll happen ...

Put it this way ... MARQUARDT embarassed MAIA on the feet in some 30 seconds a year back or so.

Yet ... SILVA made quick work of MARQUART a handful of years ago in 2 rounds or whatever.

Should be neat to see how long SILVA takes to pick apart Damian. Hell ... watch him embarass dude like he did James Irvin in one minute back in June 2008 :lol:

Yeah, I think Anderson better make quick work of Maia. Cause evryone knows Maia is only thinking takedown.

Absolutely ... Maia's gameplan =

- AVOID EMBARASSMENT
- AVOID ANDERSON'S STRIKING AND STAND-UP
- GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM HOMIE'S MUAY THAI GAME
- TRY TO SAFELY GET THE RIGHT TO THE GROUND AND WORK MY MAGIC

I just want to see Matt Hughes get that ass whipped. All the talk about how he Grounded and pounded the other Gracies should be enough motivation for this Gracie to fuck him up. I hope the Spider and Penn go ahead and destroy their opponents. Should be interesting to watch.

Phil Davis was a beast with that roll for the anaconda choke at the end. That shit was nasty. He tapped fast.:dance::dance::dance::dance:

Wow, great lightweight fight. I'm so shocked Penn lost. Great fight though. Silva WILL NOT lose.

Yeah, I don't think the challengers are not up to par. But it should be entertaining.

I'd like to see Hughes get destroyed but I doubt its happening tonight.

Silva looked exhausted

he kept his hands on his hips searching for air

i dont know if dude was out of shape or the humidity and heat got to him

but dude took the last two rounds off

theyre booing his ass like crazy too

Damn Edgar out classed and out fought Penn. Bout time Penn was humbled again..... Silva needs to step up, that was a boring fight. If I paid to watch that main I would have been swole  just like the crowd...

I think the heat and ring rust was getting to Silva more than anything else. In any event, it's not like Maia could've ended the fight. So either way you look at it, Silva dominated and won the fight.

Maybe all that taunting tired his ass out
