Learning Daz 3d

Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. My side hustle is freelance digital artist and I've been using Poser for about 15 years, and Daz Studio for about 5. So if anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

To answer your question, with a little Practice Face Gen works really well with Daz Studio. I often get requests for self portraits, so I created a googledrive folder to show clients my digital clones. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jyVCOgqu3CMeecj6TYPEyDicVaKOKF2P?usp=sharing . All those characters were made using FaceGen, Genesis 3 (Male and Female) and a little photoshop.

and for anyone who doesn't want to use the googledrive link, you I have some facegen examples on my website. RLPattersonART.com.

What is the best face program to use with DAZ? Then you can make anyone or very close to it. I've heard of FaceGen and feedback would be great for anyone with experience with it. Here is another one. This one looks promising.

I also hear good things about Keentools with Blender for faces.

Bro, your work is dope! Thanks for the input. If you don't mind, how much do you charge for self-portraits?

I appreciate the love. the prices vary depending on what kind of picture you want. For example a simple portrait with a solid background is about $60, but the more complicated the picture, the more the cost. If you have a particular idea in mind you can PM me or email (RLPatterson75@gmail.com) and I can give you a better estimate on pricing.

One last render for the night. Still gotta fix the eyes. Gotta apply shadows and highlights to the mouth, and trying to get the nose shadows right. Still got a lotta work to do, but once I'm done I'm done. That's the beauty of the 3d thing.

Edit: Had to to try this before I shut it down, lol

I think Illustrator would be good for what you are trying to do as well.

Yeah it would, but my angle is to do animation, which is way easier in 3d than drawing frame by frame in 2d. I can draw but I don't have the time to do traditional animation by myself. I would need a whole team of people like they do in Japan. But with 3d, you can be a one-man team.

I saw this hentai that was done in 3d. Once I saw this was possible, I jumped on it. (I'm not a fan of the storyline itself, but the technical aspect was groundbreaking)

The new standard for 2d animation is quickly becoming to do it in 3d and make it look like it's done in 2d. South
Park is done in Maya for instance. Also, Guilty Gear XRD was the first video game to delve into 3d with a 2d look.

Have yall heard of this? I might cop this just to fuck around wit it. I'm assuming you can bring the creations int Daz.

This looks good! I assume you can import anything into daz or poser.

Thanks for answering about illustrator. At the very least like you said it will save you time on your 2D renders before you animate them. If there is a better more efficient way to get the same results go for it. I like this thread a lot.

I am not up to speed on the unreal engines. I was wondering though. Are there dedicated sights that uses unreal engine pre-loaded with animations that you can load your characters into? I am talking Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, Action, Fighting, and dare I say it:scared: even porn?

I have never used Character creator personally, but I have some friends that swear by it. and yes, you can import Daz character into CC

Character Creator 3 Tutorial

You can import them from CC to Daz/Poser also I assume? If so I would probably go this route where I begin my characters heads and faces in CC first and then send the head/face morphs from there to Daz figures to finish.

Once you have all your head and face dials, don't sleep on using the free models even if they are white. I made plenty of ethnic/black chicks just off the free white chicks that are available. I always download free morphs no matter the race. Once you get them you can change the mats and make adjustments to facial and body features by morph dialing. This shit is limitless.

Just a little progress, testing out making the face wider, more in the anime realm. Finished the lip shadows and highlights Gonna create my own eye reflections in Photoshop next. Fixed the eye colors, added more contrast. I still am gonna try out something with the pupil. And add more detail to the face, to make it look more like it was drawn. I also figured out how to slice up the eyebrows. Gonna do some dope designs with that later on. Also gotta make the ears more cartoonish.

Slow and steady. Working on that tut above then there's another Russian guy that's modeling this action female. I don't work on dudes. I have to do shit that interest me and building a dude is not one so I do females or monsters in my tuts.

I don't mind building dudes but man it sure is much nicer building some fine ass women.

This is a good article explaining the differences between a bump map, a normal map and a displacement map.

As far as I know,

There's the bump map, normal map, displacement map and the alpha maps. These four affect the surfaces of the 3d mesh in different ways.

This 3D shit really pulls you in!!
