I looked into TVRN. The F.D.A. approved its new opioid agonist which "sent the stock soaring!" all of 10 cents :hmm: .
Sometimes you get a big bang if its approved but the real profit is made during the run up. If you gonna do biotech plays with FDA approvals you gotta be scoping the PDUFA calendar every month (https://www.biopharmcatalyst.com/calendars/pdufa-calendar) to know whats coming up, hop in accordingly and ride the waves up to the date. I got almost 30% off TRVN a week or so before the approval date. I know others made way more if they got in earlier. I'm up almost 25% on LPCN and its approval date isn't until Aug. 28th.

FDA Approvals are like earnings, good or bad, it's hard to predict which way it will go and even harder to predict reaction. I generally get out before approvals and then move onto the next although, like earnings, you can play the overreaction to the FDA decision as well.

Man how y'all be knowing when to strike when the iron is hot?
its a combination of a lot of things. gotta be in front of your computer or on your phone alot.
use Webull and TOS so you can see and follow the charts (candlestick patterns, entry points, resistance, support levels, volume, etc) follow and keep up to date with the news feeds.
After you've setup your watchlists for companies you're interested in and follow the above,....you'll be able to know when to jump in and jump out.

FACTS!!

I do all of this and still be fucking up because I don’t stick to my trading plan. I wrote that in my trading journal today.

You need to do all these things plus have the discipline to actually follow your plan to a T. Shit is a journey. Still learning but getting better day by day.

TRVN got up to 4.50 at one point Friday evening. It was a good play from my end.

i saw the stock in this thread, did some research. Now i have shares and Im following the stock on my trading platform I get notifications on things going on

i got in at $4. I shoulda bought more:mad:

Are you saying you’ll be selling yours if it’s exceeds $16.40?
I have some shares I will hold long term and some shares I will sell. If NIO becomes the Chinese Tesla, then holding long term is my plan and I will swing trade some shares on the side for profit.

agreed, I think is one of the times I should have tried options for the first time.

Still got some learning to do before I jump into that. I will get there though.

I understand your reluctance. However, like anything, you have to just take the first step. Here is a $100 play for you today. You can sell it today or tomorrow and you will make money.

Buy a $NIO call option with a strike price of $16, expiration of Aug 21st. Do this pretty close to 9:30. Watch it closely and sell when you are good with your return. Do not hang on to this past tomorrow. DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $1.10. It should be around $1.04.

So, there it is. Your first options trade. Post here if you have questions. Again, it will cost you approximately $104.00 total because you have to buy 100 per contract.

Anyone else who was curious about options, do this play to gain some experience. Remember, you can sell at anytime if you ever start to lose money. So, you should never ever lose all your money. If fact never even close to half. You always sell when the price drops. But, in this case, it shouldn't happen today.

Just took the plunge. Thanks, fam!

Cool, I am watching NIO now. It is gaining during the pre-market. If the order doesn't fill right away, be patient, and wait for the dip. It will happen.

I am also watching for drops in MGM and MCRB. Both are expected to fall today from yesterday's highs. This should be a good put order for me.

if this Russian vaccine is legit and works.......expect an uptick in oil companies' stocks.
best to find a good one and buy in now while its low.......as much as u can.
might even see a spike in some today just off mere speculation.
I bought ZN based on your logic, and I’ll buy some more. Right on.

Nice heads up! My TD account doesn't allow me to trade options. Guess it's time to sign on with Webull or Robinhood. Also, I'm missing out on these premarket gains.

OK, so NIO is taking an early morning dive. wow!!

I would wait it out at least until 11am before making a decision to bail. If you haven't purchased your option yet, you could do it now for a much lower price.
What the fuckkkkkkkk! Why is this diving?

Gonna be honest. I do not know. I did the same trade as well. If I were following my rules, I would get out now and lick my wounds. You do not win them all. However, since I am comfortable losing the $100, I will just let it ride for the day. If you are OK with the possibility of losing the entire position, wait and see where it goes. Right now you should be at a 30% loss.

I'm not a technical analysis guy by any stretch of the imagination, but I HAVE been watching NIO closely the last few weeks. IMO, I doubt it will tank or fall much farther..it probably has a better chance of bouncing right back soon. Like @sickwidit said you have the profit takers, but you'll also have (ppl like me) who are gonna want to buy the dip as well because we're long term holders.

Just wanted to add that wrinkle for yall to decide to wait it out a little longer or not..

If you look at NIO's previous earnings day that launched this current high it went the same way and was red. Then for the next quarter stock went up like $12. I hopped out in pre-market cuz the news was already priced in. I think I'll jump back in later and ride the trend up.

yeah SRNE took a steep dive as well as FLDM, which i also have shares in.
im still holding firm though.

who on here lost their shirts from fucking around with kodak? cmon cmon...i know there has to be one or two of yall

No one should have held on to that stock beyond the hype. Kodak is a company that lacked any fundementals and hence their $2.xx share prior to Trumps annoucements. Getting that loan didn't make them fundamentally a better company over night.

I'm guessing those that had "puts" in place after the market highs made a killing.
