I feel people can view that as the coup de grâce moment in the history of this forum, but I remember folks being upset before that if we are being completely honest.

We've moved all the BGOL threads on the Coli to a section which can't be seen by unregistered folks butbut latest one mentions TWO main reasons. The paywall and that 2011 bullshit...BGOL essentially helped father the Coli, a huge majority of them old cats on there came directly from here from '08 to '11, then them chan dudes took down SOHH and the Coli came up as a result. The timing was horrible.

this is it in a nutshell...the owner there did everything that folks here had asked HNIC to do or warned him what would happen ages ago...there are simply more ppl on thecoli and the trolls are better contained...case in point someone was acting up in a nipsey hussle (RIP) tribute thread and he got banned from the thread...trolls are allowed to make their own threads but get thread banned or even IP banned depending on how far they go when they ruin other folks’ threads

At doesn't matter at this point..A lot of folks tried to help, I even crossed swords with HNIC when I gave him scripts compatible to this version of Xenforo to make the forum more interactive as the Coli, I even couldve authored a few color themes on my down time..NO CHARGE.. for here but cold shoulders. But it's whatever.

I'll always appreciate what BGOL is and it's history especially all the years I've been here to partake in it but I'm indifferent now just by my own interactions with HNIC going along in correlation to what the other refugees have said.

This place has been part of my routine since I was a kid in college.
At least 15+ years.
I've learned so much from so many people here, gotten job interviews, made and saved a lot of $$ on stuff because of this place.

To be honest though, atleast in the past, a forum needed the constant presence of controversy to keep people engaged. BGOL was never a usenet/fidonet/Post-Arpanet type product where clowning was never present. OCKs were also something that kept people around. Banning people from threads would have really hurt that.

A major thing is the changing landscape of the internet though. When you didnt need slam to exclusive post porn videos for you, something was lost. I mean tube sites in general changed things. I remember thinking I was the only black atheist until I met guys like JD walker and started posting here. It was really ahead of the game as a black community, but thecoli was able to expand it further. Thats the natural order of things though probably. Kind of like how Altavista was clearly superior to google in the early days in terms of their searching algorithm. Google kept chugging along though.
