I know that the name purple Haze is a spin-off of the Jimi Hendrix song, but I can't help but see the disrespectful Purple Hayes, dark skin black man named Hayes.

That said, Mr. Ali might be halfway to an EGOT before all is said and done on true detective

Da Hoyts own that meat packing plant that da mother of Julie & Will worked at. Probably end up being equivalent to da Tuttles of season 1.

I think they may have been zooming in on the cigarette he was smoking WHILE eating, which is unusual. They may have been showing just how scared Dan really was.

From what I hear, the Hoyts are based on the Tysons from the Tyson food company in real life, which is based in Arkansas.... And the District Attorney is supposedly based on Bill Clinton. Apparently there was a ton of real-life fuckery going on between those two back in the 70's and 80's. HBO revealed that Michael Rooker (blue dude Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy) is Mr. Hoyt.
 
In da hallucination that Hays had, not only was there Harris James but also who appears to be da son of da Trash Man present as well. Hays & Roland murked someone or a couple of folks & we don't know who yet. Harris James went missing when da case reopened in '90.

Continues to be a great season. Been trying to get my mom to watch the series over the years. Hadn't gotten around to it. She texted me the other day saying she and her boyfriend were now watching and really liking it. Asked her about her fave scenes from the first few episodes of season 3. She jokingly said "nah - just starting the 1st season!" Laughed in response and said not to worry ... that's a great place to start. If you love the 1st season, you're gonna love the current 3rd season when you finally get caught up. They also recently re-watched The Night Of (HBO) as he hadn't seen it, but she had. I gave her the 1st season on flash drive previously.

Agreed. Captioning really helps when you're following a series closely, and it provides a helpful reminder on some of the secondary characters' names, etc. It's really good for other series that are heavy on dialogue as well. We were watching that show The Terror (on AMC) last year. The accents & numerous people involved ... the captions were great. Especially for key scenes and exchanges. Or if there's background noise which is overpowering at times.

A different one eyed dude in '90 shows up wildin at her book reading probably jarred her memory - I think I rmbr somebody said the black dude with the CAC seen around the kids had a fucked up eye AND a scar like the character Steve Williams was playing did

it was reported that a one eye black man brought dolls from the lady who made them. he may have been involved in the kidnapping.

Thanks. I remember, but I had forgotten that detail. They picked up the wrong one eyed black dude in episode 2 or 3

I'm not going to say it, but I want you to know that I'm thinking it

I got to watch this show again tomorrow with the closed caption on. It's hard to believe there's only one episode left
 
The music was so intense and epic. It set the mood the entire episode.
Purple watches himself at different stages of his entire life, he watched himself when he was burning his clothes
Earlier his old self was watching his young self read to his kids, as his young self felt his own presence and looked at the door that his old self was watching him from.
 
Now we know what happened in the woods but also we know Hoyt knew too.
